Sword Art Online / Sword Art Online II / Alicization / Progressive

Alright!

The first arc is over, so I guess the next episode or two will transition us into the next arc…

Well the ending was hilarious. I think the humor was my subconscious’ coping mechanism for the illogical BS that the ending of this first part of SAO threw at me.

Though I’m pretty sure that the horribly unrealistic scene of Kirito waking up in his hospital bed after 2 years and proceeding to slowly amble down the endlessly long hallway towards the white light while muttering ā€œAsunaā€ was hilarious by itself. Seriously, Neo could barely move after being released from The Matrix, Uma Therman could barely move after waking up from her coma in Kill Bill, but Kirito can hop out of bed and amble away? It just doesn’t work.

I’m not even sure where Kirito was going, since I don’t remember him knowing anything about Asuna’s location in the real world. He didn’t even know her real name until the final moments of SAO.

Gotta say that I was hoping that the ridiculous hospital scene, with Kirito fading into the bright white light, would be like the end of the crappy novel The Giver and be a way of relating Kirito’s death to the viewer, but that wasn’t the case.

What I want to know is how they are going to explain the existence of the next online game that they stumble into, especially since the internet reports that it will use a lot of the same technology as SAO.

Aniplex USA Adds Sword Art Online, Blast of Tempest, Magi Anime

All 3 series currently streaming on Crunchyroll

Aniplex USA licensing Sword Art Online, this is the worst licensing news ever. Unless I can buy it for about $120 with an english dub.

I am not sure if I want to keep watching more episodes of Sword Art Online, This news totally ruined my weekend

Yeah, this is rather disappointing.
I was really hoping it was one of Sentai’s that they were sitting on.

Woohoo for $120 sub-only dvd half sets… :silly:

or…

$300+ sub only BDs

I just read this on ANN and I died a little inside, because I’ve really liked the series so far but not going to spend a small fortune to get it on DVD or Blu-Ray.

Since next year I’m already planning on getting at least Fate / Stay Night TV on Blu-Ray, and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, with maybe 2 or 3 more series depending on when they release next year. (If AoA gets the Yamato remake there will be Hell to pay… )

I was talking about $120 for six volumes, like the way it used to be.

Just saw episode 15… I have never ever wanted to choke the life out of an anime character til now.

Asuna’s fiance. All kinds of creepy.

I feel like a minority when it comes to wanting a dub. I know it wasn’t announced yet how it would be released but Aniplex licensing three animes dosn’t sound like our chances are good, or are people just bending over?

Maybe you are in the minority as I want a dub for SAO and I’m generally in the minority on opinions of the fandom

Though the odds are high, I’d say, of it getting a Bang/Zoom dub if it gets a dub at all. If a Bang/Zoom dub for SAO comes out like their Persona 4 dub, well, that could greatly enhance the show. If it comes out like the Madoka Magica dub then it will make the show more accessible, but not better. A dub like PMMM would make the ā€œWTF that makes no sense!ā€ moments of SAO be in my native language but it wouldn’t smooth over its flaws/really improve upon it as a Persona 4 styled dub would.

Though at aniplex prices it’d have to have a dub for me to consider buying it. Odds are that I wouldn’t buy it regardless but I did buy PMMM and I have the same dissatisfaction with its flaws as I do SAO so there’s a chance that if it is dubbed I’d get it, just not a high one. FWIW

Ep. 16

That was pretty awesome!

So, Kirito enters the new game.
Though his items didn’t carry-over, his compatible skills did, which makes him extremely over-powered as a new player.
And he got to show off his skills in a rather awesome shot battle.

You forgot about Yui! Yui is back in a big way in Alfheim Online!

Yeah, I did neglect that.

And OMG is Yui flippin’ ADORABLE in pixie form!

EP 17

I have never hated someone as much as I hate Oberon (Asuna’s Fiance) I really hope Kirito, Leafa and Yui take this scumbag down.

Ep. 17

I can’t help but laugh at the ā€œrevealā€ though, considering the OP animation and how blatently obvious it is in the OP, I’d be awestruck that ANYONE would find that as a surprise.

That being said however…

I loved how this episode played out.

Ep. 18

spoiler

Some good info in this episode, Asuna finally catches a break, Kirito and Leafa have a confrontation with her old party, and then head toward the world tree. Recon goes semi-undercover to find out some things.

Kirito is still awesome even when he can’t fight back.

Ep. 18

I just don’t get it…

Suguha is in love with Kazuto, and as much time as she has spent with him, it’s hard for me to swallow that, up to this point, she still hasn’t realized Kirito is Kazuto.

Well look at it this way, she hasn’t been able to interact with him for over 2 years, and he’s a different person than the person she knew then. Also people act differently in an MMO than they do in real life. Kazuto is more the person he wants to be, than the person he actually is.

Ep. 19

Pretty cool ambush fight at the beginning, A Declaration of friendship, Treachery revealed, Will our heroes arrive at the peace treaty in time? Tune in Next Week, Same SAO Channel, Same SAO Time!
