A modest gardener – ha! Arawn calls Lector the White Spirit and Arthur recognizes him as the one that killed his father. It’s confirmed and Arthur learns the reason for his father’s death. Arthur tells his sword to show the truth of their true enemy and the garden disappears to reveal skeletons. The group discovers that the tower will be the end of mankind and Lector tells them that a new power will be born. As Arthur vows to destroy the tower, a passageway linking heaven and earth appears and the skeletons rise to fight them.

Lector tells them that breaking the obelisk and smashing the cauldron wouldn’t stop his plan and that flames are about to destroy the earth below the tower. He tells them that the gods will descend to a perfect white world. Arawn disagrees with Lector and the group is determined to fight him.

As lightning scorches the earth, Ermin’s picture book mirrors the battle at the tower. “Whack, whack. They destroy them.” – I still love this line! But no one can lay a finger on Lector. However, Arthur is very determined and is finally able to place a small cut on Lector’s face. Lector is stunned and angered by the blemish to his perfect face and calls for the flame of purification to reawaken. Merkadis rises from the burning ground and Ogam tells them that it’s “a weapon of absolute destruction known as the “Chariot of God” that had killed Arawn during the last Great War. But Arawn had thought he destroyed it.
*
Lector offers himself as a sacrifice and tells Merkadis to destroy the world. Merkadis grows even bigger and the tower begins to crumble. The floor beneath the group gives way and they fall. My heart was in my mouth when the screen went black! But Taliesin and his dragon friends save them! It’s so good to see that Taliesin is alive and well!! As they break out of the tower, the beast, Merkadis, roars. How will they ever fight it? Will Arawn have to die again?
Merkadis definately has the power to lay waste to the planet with that Electrum cannon. Ogam says that there is only one way to defeat Merkadis and that is to use the “Words of Power” as found in the Sacred Book of Poems. However, the only one that can sing the incantation is Riannon because of her connection to Primula. Unfortunately, Riannon doesn’t know the words. Arawn and Arthur and their swords will buy her some time to find the words. It was wonderful to see them fighting on the backs of the dragons.
*
When Arawn gets hit, Riannon becomes puzzled when her healing magic won’t work on him. Ogam tells her that Electrum wounds are fatal to Arawn and my heart sank. I remember that Ogam had mentioned this is what killed him the last time and I thought Arawn would have to die again, but happily, Arthur gets him back on his feet. And with Primula’s help, Riannon finds her true self and remembers the words! Her song dissolves Merkadis to reveal a confused Lector, and Arthur kills him as Lector calls out to Watos to save him. The music here is amazing and fits the scene perfectly. This exciting climax combined with the beautiful music gave me goosebumps!

That night at the castle, Arawn talks with Pwyll and he tells Arawn that he’s been with Arthur the whole time. Pwyll asks Arawn to continue to guide Arthur and hands him a crown, telling Arawn that it’s time to make Arthur the Elf King. The crowning ceremony was beautiful as was the crown itself – a design of dragons. And so Arthur becomes Arthur Pendragon and a new era is born! And how appropriate to end the story with Ermin’s picture book as life in the castle goes on. Tears to Tiara ended perfectly and I wish Arawn a very long and happy life with all of his “wives” but I also hate to see this story end – it was just so good!
I noticed that, so I figured I’d let people know it was on the online player. Since it was the original Tears to Tiara thread, I just went with it.

Chris Ayres as Arthur Hannah Alcorn as Riannon Illich Guardiola as Arawn Monica Rial as Octavia Tiffany Grant as Morgan Brett Weaver as Cecil George Manley as Ladu John Gremillion as Edith & Narrator John Swasey as Drwc & Tempesta Luci Christian as Yureva
Chris Ayres with an Irish accent is interesting and when he yells, he sounds exactly like Greg. I watched the first episode off iTunes and can’t wait to watch more.
I have to admit, I wasn’t overly fond of this series when I saw it subbed the first time around.
But I have to say, Chris doing that Irish accent is just awesome!
I may actually even wind up liking this series by the end, due to the dub alone.
But we’ll see.
I like this show a lot. I have already watched the first vol. and am awaiting the release of the second vol. on netflex. I could watch the sub. but I prefer the dub.
