http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/assassins-creed-rogue-officially-announced/Assassin’s Creed Rogue Unveiled
After months of rumours, Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin’s Creed Rogue, the new game for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Details on the game first surfaced earlier this year when it had the working title Assassin’s Creed Comet, and now Ubisoft confirms that it will thrust players into the role of a former Assassin who has gone rogue and now works for the villainous Templars. It takes place during the Seven Years’ War, a few decades before the French Revolution that serves as the backdrop for the next-gen Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Fans of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be happy to learn the gameplay will have a strong emphasis on naval combat, which will be mostly absent from Unity. Assassin’s Creed Rogue will launch November 11, just a few weeks after Assassin’s Creed Unity arrives on October 28.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/no-multiplayer-in-assassins-creed-rogue/No Multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Rogue
You will not be able to sail the icy waters of the Arctic with your friends.

In the latest issue of Game Informer, Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be single-player only. This makes it the first console game in the series since 2009′s Assassin’s Creed II to not have a multiplayer mode. The good news is that this year’s other big game, the next-gen Assassin’s Creed Unity, will have multiplayer as well as a new co-op mode.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is being made for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and offers a new story where players take the role of an Assassin who goes rogue and joins the villainous Templars. It will bring back the naval combat from Assassin’s Creed IV, which will be largely absent from Unity, and it will also allow players to explore the frozen Arctic for the first time in the series.
Yet another big game has been delayed until 2015.

The monstrous online shooter Evolve has been pushed back to February 10, 2015 from its original release date of October 21, 2014. Publisher Take-Two says the game needs a little bit more polish before it’s ready to be unleashed on the masses.

In Evolve, four players take the role of humans, with a fifth player controlling a monster out to get them. The gameplay is very well balanced between the two sides, and it’s so good that it recently took home one of our Best of E3 Awards.
One of the first survival horror games is rising from the grave, because Capcom has announced a remake of Resident Evil.

It’s based on the 2002 GameCube version of the 1996 PlayStation original, and will offer new and improved HD graphics and textures. Players will have the option of playing in 16:9 widescreen or in the original 4:3 fullscreen, and there will be two control schemes: a classic layout and another that’s more modern. It’s being built for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, where it will run at full 1080p. There’s also a version coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 that will not look as good.

Expect to see the new Resident Evil in early 2015.
The new turn-based strategy game Inner City Kids is coming to the PlayStation Vita next spring, along with the PC and Mac versions that were recently announced.

The game promises all the depth of other turn-based strategy games, with cool pixel artwork and an inner city feel. The story focuses on a group of kids who struggle to stop robots from replacing all the adults in their city. Players will be able to collect new weapon modules throughout the game and then combine them to create unique weapons that will suit whatever play style they want.

There’s no word yet if Inner City Kids will also find its way to the PS4.
Thanks to the success of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Square Enix is bringing another last-gen hit to next-gen.

They’ve announced Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition. It’s an update of the 2012 game for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, offering better visuals and audio, and all of the downloadable content that was released for the original game. It’ll launch October 10.
Prepare for some bloody 80s nostalgia on the PS4, because the original Hotline Miami is coming to the console later this month. It will have all the some levels and content and the PS3 and PC version, and this time around, players will be able to use the new features of the PS4 controller by shaking it up and down to beat their enemies to death.

This isn’t the only Hotline Miami adventure on the way. The sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, will launch on the PS4, PS3, Vita, and PC before the end of the year.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/remember-me-dev-and-square-enix-team-up-for-new-episodic-game-life-is-strange/Remember Me Dev Announces New Game
Dontnod Entertainment, the studio behind last year’s sci-fi game Remember Me, is teaming up with Square Enix for a new project called Life Is Strange.

It’s an episodic game where players take control of a young woman with the ability to rewind time. She uses this power to try and track down a missing friend in her hometown, but whenever she uses it, it will have time-bending repercussions that affect the entire story. Like most episodic games, the what you do in one episode will carry over the change what happens in the next, with each chapter building on the choices you’ve made.

Max Caulfield has been absent from Arcadia Bay, Oregon for five years now. Upon returning home she discovers that Rachel Amber, a fellow senior at school, has disappeared under mysterious and rather uncomfortable circumstances. While trying to uncover the truth Max reunites with an old friend, Chloe, and makes a startling discovery: Max has the power to rewind time.

No release window for Life Is Strange has been named, but it shouldn’t take too long to come out because it will be playable at Gamescom in Germany this week. It’s being built for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/toy-soldiers-war-chest-coming-to-ps4-xbox-one-and-pc-in-2015/Toy Soldiers: War Chest Announced
Gamers can start toying with the greatest armies ever assembled.

Signal Studios and Ubisoft have announced Toy Soldiers: War Chest, the third game in the action strategy series. It will continue the story of the self-important Kaiser and his WWI-era German army toys, and this time around, they’ll face off against their deadliest foe yet: a bright and happy doll named Starbright and her army of pixies, majestic unicorns, teddy bears, and fluffy cats.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest is being built for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, making it the first in the series for the next-gen consoles. It will deploy next year.

Seriously? I thought that we had gotten past this nonsense, especially now that that PS4, Xbone and PC are alike. Hopefully they’ll get around to a PC version :frowning:

Hopefully they won’t continue this foolishness with the pending Tomb Raider game from the original franchise (the one where Lara Croft hasn’t been made moe), the sequel to Guardian of Light.

Having 2 concurrent versions of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider still makes no sense to me.

Journey and The Unfinished Swan, two awesome games for the PS3, are coming to the PS4. Both of them will offer full 1080p visuals, but there’s no word yet on what other content might be added to the original experience. The new versions will launch later this year.

http://epn.tv/all/spotlight/new-silent-hill-game-announced/New Silent Hill Game Announced
A new Silent Hill game has been announced in a very unusual way.

Earlier today, Sony and Konami released a playable demo for a mysterious new game called P.T. on the PlayStation Network. Anyone with a PS4 can download and start playing it for free, and when you do, you eventually realize that it’s actually an interactive teaser for a new Silent Hill game called Silent Hills. It’s being overseen by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who has long expressed an interested in the series, and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is also lending his creepy talents to the game. The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus is likely playing the lead character, because a CG version of him appears at the end of the demo.
http://epn.tv/all/spotlight/biowares-mysterious-ip-is-a-4vs1-multiplayer-game-called-shadow-realms/BioWare Announces Shadow Realms
BioWare has finally revealed the first details on their new game Shadow Realms, which they’ve been teasing for the last few weeks with a series of cryptic trailers.

Shadow Realms is an action RPG that takes place in two different worlds: modern day Earth and a fantasy setting known as Embra. The gameplay is based around co-op, with four players taking control of normal-looking humans and then giving them their choice of supernatural powers. They’ll then take on a fifth player who takes the role of the villainous and powerful Shadowlord, who has the ability to lay traps and control terrifying monsters. Developer BioWare Austin, the same studio behind Star Wars: The Old Republic, wants the gameplay to bring back the feel of old school pen and paper tabletop games by having you and your friends playing together in both co-op and opposition in real time.

Shadow Realms is slated to launch late next year.
http://epn.tv/all/spotlight/warlords-of-draenor-arrives/Warlords of Draenor Arrives November 13
Start stocking up on gold, because Blizzard Entertainment has announced that World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor will hit the Mac and PC on November 13.

There are plenty of new features, and the two biggest are sexy new character models and the new Garrisons base system. The expansion won’t come a moment too soon. World of Warcraft has seen a dwindling number of subscribers in recent years, but the numbers always spike up when new content is released. The game is celebrating its tenth anniversary this November, and Blizzard is giving players a new battleground, an updated version of the classic Molten Core raid, not to mention a molten corgi pet.

In other happenings from the Land of Azeroth, Blizzard has revealed that they plan to immortalize late actor and comedian Robin Williams in the game. They haven’t said exactly how they plan to do this, although an NPC would make sense. This follows an online petition to get Williams in WoW, which makes sense, given that he was a big fan of the game.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/robert-kirkman-announces-partnership-with-starbreeze-studios-for-new-walking-dead-game/New Walking Dead Game Announced
I hope you’re not sick of zombies, because a new game based on The Walking Dead is on the way.

This one is being made by Payday developer Overkill Software, and is appropriately titled Overkill’s The Walking Dead. Like the Payday games, it will be a first-person shooter based around co-op, with you and your fellow survivors working together to slay the undead. Best of all, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is partnering with Overkill on the game, saying that he’s a big fan of their previous work.

Expect to see Overkill’s The Walking Dead take a bite out of the PC and consoles in 2016. The bar is set very high given the success of Telltale’s Walking Dead adventure games, but it will almost certainly be a big improvement over last year’s critically-panned shooter The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

Limited edition Super Smash Bros. 3DS XL console bundle slated for October

From EPN:

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/ubisoft-to-move-away-from-ps3-and-xbox-360-development-after-2015/Ubisoft Dropping PS3 and 360 in 2015
It looks like the PS3 and Xbox 360′s days are numbered at Ubisoft.

Speaking with Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that they will probably stop releasing games for the last-gen systems in 2015. He says they’re sticking with the PS3 and 360 this year with games like Assassin’s Creed Rogue because they’re still in demand, but thanks to the rapid sales of the PS4 and Xbox One, all of their studios will make the switch next year. Other publishers have made similar plans, so gamers everywhere will need to upgrade their hardware soon if they haven’t already.

As for the Wii U, Guillemot has confirmed that both of this year’s new Assassin’s Creed games will not be coming to the Nintendo console. He says that the previous games didn’t sell well enough on the system, but unlike some other publishers, they’re not going to abandon it. Ubisoft plans to release more party-style games like Just Dance 2015 on the Wii U, because Guillemot says that those kind of game’s are most popular on the console. He also says that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is still on the way, despite rumours of its cancellation.
http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/playstation-4s-share-play-feature-will-be-limited-to-60minute-sessions/PS4 Share Play Has a Time Limit
The PS4′s upcoming Share Play feature won’t be an excuse not to buy games.

Sony has revealed that the feature will only allow you to share your games with friends for an hour at a time. When the time expires, you’ll need to invite your friends to play again, which means you won’t be able to just leave the house and let them play your games while you’re off doing something else.

Share Play was shown off earlier this week at Gamescom in Germany. It’s described as a ‘virtual couch’ that allows you to invite your friends to join in and try out a game you’re playing, even if they don’t own a copy themselves. The idea is that people do this all the time when they’re in the same room, and now you’ll be able to do it online.

The new feature will launch as part of the PS4′s 2.0 system update, which will go live before the end of the year.
Warframe was first released last year on the PS4 and PC, and offers online co-op action where players join together in groups of four. The Xbox One version will include SmartGlass support, giving users new mission alerts and other in-game information.
Atari is bringing back two of its scariest franchises: Alone in the Dark and Haunted House.

Both of the franchises helped pioneer the survival horror genre. The first Haunted House game came out in 1982 for the Atari 2600, and there was a remake for the PC in 2010 followed by a recent iOS side-scroller. The first Alone in the Dark was released in 1992, and the last one came out in 2008 for the 360 and PS3.

The new Alone in the Dark game will be called Alone in the Dark: Illumination, but that’s all Atari has said for now. More details on both projects will be announced at the Penny Arcade Expo next week.

Glad to see that a major dev is putting the last-gen out to pasture and will use the ~10 year newer hardware in the PS4/Xbone.

Recently I had the opportunity to play the PS4 tech demo Knack on a 120Hz 1080 display. Something must have been wrong with the setup as the graphics were really low-res, like hooking up a GameCube to a modern HDTV. Since Knack isn’t free (??!!) I can’t test it on other PS4s to see what was up with that.

Thanks for all the vids’, Snowy. I haven’t been keeping up on it this year like I usually do. This helps to get caught up without me having to dig myself… lazy grin.
:P:)

Anyway, here is some Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer gameplay recorded from Gamescom. I truly hope that this game is not a disappointment like how Ghosts turned out. Enough crying though. Here it is…
Castle Crashers and BattleBlock Theater developer The Behemoth has released a teaser trailer for their next game.

There’s no title yet, so they’re just calling it Game 4 for now. Judging by the teaser, it will be a sci-fi game where players take the role of a lone survivor in a post-apocalyptic version of Earth, which has been thrown into chaos after colliding with a giant space teddy bear. The developers say that they came up with the idea shortly before the release of BattleBlock Theater, and like their previous games, expect plenty of humour and cutesy visuals.
Nintendo fans are going to miss out on the latest Call of Duty game.

Sledgehammer Games has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will not be coming to the Wii U. This is something that many fans had already suspected given that Activision had refused to commit to a Wii U version. The last two games in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Ghosts, were both released on the console.

Advanced Warfare will deploy on the PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on November 4. Watch our recent interview on the new features in the game by clicking here.

This isn’t the only bad news for Nintendo. Earlier this week, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that Ubisoft is moving away from hardcore development on the Wii U, and will stick with releasing party games like Just Dance 2015 on the console.

This means we’ll have to wait until next year before new details on the game arrive.

The new Crackdown was announced earlier this year for the Xbox One. Like the first two games, it will thrust players into the role of genetically-enhanced cops who take on powerful criminals, with plenty of comic book-inspired visuals. Original Crackdown creator Dave Jones is heading the development, and they promise to bring back all the same kind of mayhem, destruction, and co-op that made the first two games so popular.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/fez-creator-quits-game-development/Fez Creator Quits Game Development
There’s some disappointing news for fans of the hit indie game Fez.

The game’s creator Phil Fish has announced that he’s quitting game development. This comes after all of his personal information, including his financial records, were exposed online by a group of hackers out to “publicly execute” him. It seems they’ve succeeded, because along with leaving game development for good, Fish is also selling his company Polytron, saying that all the negativity isn’t worth it.

This isn’t the first time attacks and negativity from some members of the online community have forced Phil Fish to rethink his commitment to the games industry. Last year, he cancelled the sequel to Fez after a heated argument on Twitter. He also faced a lot of personal turmoil making the original Fez, which is chronicled in the documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

Whoever ends up buying Polytron will also get the rights to make their own Fez sequels, so let’s hope it’s sold to the right people. There’s likely no shortage of interested parties given the popularity of the first game.
The Legend of Korra, the new game based on the Nickelodeon anime series of the same name, is set to hit the PS3 and PS4 on October 21, with the Xbox 360 and Xbox One version following a day later.

This means her ability to bend the elements of earth, air, fire, and water won’t be as powerful as they are on the show, but you’ll get stronger and stronger as you progress through the story. The game is being written by the show’s writer and producer Tim Hendrick, and it will also use the same voice actors.

Over on the small screen, the third season of the TV show recently concluded, with the fourth and final season expected to arrive next year.

It’s being made for Windows 8 computers and Windows Phone 8 mobile devices, with controls designed for touchscreens. The gameplay promises to be more fast-paced than some of the other Age of Empires titles, and the graphics are also a lot more cartoonish. Microsoft promises that the game will still deliver all the strategy and combat that fans love, with players building and expanding their fortresses and defending them against invading armies. You can take on other players, and best of all, there will be cross-platform support between the desktop and mobile versions.

You should know that there will be in-app purchases. The MMO game Age of Empires Online, which recently shut down, also had micro-transactions.

The game features plenty of different voice actors, including Arkham City’s Troy Baker, and the 1960s Batman himself Adam West.

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/dragon-age-inquisition-fourplayer-coop-mode-revealed/Dragon Age: Inquisition Gets Co-op
For the first time ever, you’ll be able to explore the land of Thedas with your real-life friends.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the first game in the series to feature a co-op mode. It will support up to four players, and allow them to take on different missions that will be separate from the main single-player campaign. The missions are designed with quick engagement in mind, which is a fancy way of saying that they’ll be action-packed.

BioWare points out that the single-player and co-op modes will be completely separate, so playing online with friends will not affect the solo campaign in any way. This is in contrast with Mass Effect 3, which featured a co-op mode that gave you new perks in the single-player game.

The studio has also confirmed that the co-op mode will feature micro-transactions. There will be an in-game currency called Platinum, which you can get with real-life money, and then buy new items. BioWare says that you’ll also be able to buy the same items by spending the gold coins you collect in the actual game.

Age of Empires: Castle Siege Announced
:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!
Microsoft has announced Age of Empires: Castle Siege, an all new entry in the RTS series.

It’s being made for Windows 8 computers and Windows Phone 8 mobile devices, with controls designed for touchscreens.
 How stupid. No backwards comparability because it requires fondlescreen tech. Wonder if anyone has realized everyone doesnt care for fondletech yet and they should make it forwards compatible but based on normal controls. Do they think consoles will adopt Windows 8 and all will begin using fondlescreens? Most are going to MoCap type controls, so why deal with any sort of touching a device let alone the screen? If not MoCap, they will still need a controlled, because i doubt fondlescreen will be something placed into all TVs for decades to come!

reminds me, I should try playing games on my TV since both are now HD and see if they are any better due to a much bigger screen for my poor old eyes?

So Microsoft is doubling down on the failure that was windows 8? This leaves me with concern for direct x 12 being on win 7; DX 10 wasn’t on xp.

The last age of empires sucked and Microsoft recently ended it (aoe online). The previous one had issues.

The game hasn’t really been Age of Empires since The Conquerors expansion (which thankfully has a fan patch to make ot HD and fix the plan multiplayer).

I couldnt get my AoE gold to install on anything passed XP. What is the trick? I need to get my “pepperoni pizza” on!

http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/world-of-warcraft-decade/Another Decade of World of Warcraft?
Don’t expect to see World of Warcraft come to an end anytime soon, because Blizzard plans to keep releasing new content for another decade.

That’s according to game director Tom Chilton. Speaking with Game Planet, he says they’ve already begun conceptualizing six or seven more expansions, which will take another ten years to come out. He adds that they’ve already begun active development on the next expansion that will follow Warlords of Draenor, which arrives this November.

Chilton didn’t reveal exactly what will be included in any of the future expansions. Since World of Warcraft has already been around for 10 years, it means Blizzard hopes the game will have a twenty year lifespan. That’s pretty impressive. It has seen a drop in subscribers in recent years, but is still one of the most popular MMOs in the world.
The remake of the classic dungeon crawler Gauntlet has been delayed. It was set to arrive on September 3, but will now hit the PC on September 23. The developers say they need the extra time to fine-tune some of the details.

Based on the original 1985 version of Gauntlet, the remake offers completely new graphics and audio, but maintains the top-down perspective and fast-paced action of the original. There will once again be four magical characters to choose from: Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, or Elf, but instead of having four players crouched around the same arcade cabinet like in the 80s, there will be local and online multiplayer support.

I haven’t played Age of Empires I and Rise of Rome in a while as the LAN crew wanted to Get Medieval lol. I’ve only been playing Age of Empires: The Age of Kings, specifically The Conquerors expansion.

To fix the graphical and multiplayer glitches, enable widescreen HD resolutions and enable support for optional game enhancements that weren’t practical when the game came out (eg:smarter AI, more population) I’ve been using the UserPatch.

I don’t understand why this hasn’t been incorporated into the computer platform yet.:angry: Instead with Windows we are stuck with outdated tech I feel. Yes, “fondlscreen” tech works for smaller devices, but I feel that computers, whether desktop or laptop, should have MoCap by now. We’ve all seen it in countless movies and Microsoft already has the Kinect 2 tech. So…

I’m sorry but I was always taught NOT to touch the screen… LIKE DUH!

The handheld news has me super excited. After taking a step back with a cheaper 2DS model in 2013, I figured it was about time for a 3DS/XL refresh cycle. I would’ve liked this to be announced at E3 '14 but oh well. I still own the original 3DS from 2011 so I would like to upgrade mine soon and a release next year is perfect. Thanks Nintendo!

I hope they come out with a better name than “New 3DS”
