Yoriko may be a bit of an airhead but what she said at the shrine was very wise. I bet her rival would be very mad that she got a marriage proposal from a prince.
It’s Daimaru and Sena that will be tying the knot and the whole precinct is talking about the upcoming wedding. All the girls picture getting married someday, but what they envision has Aoi as the bride!
As the girls help prepare for the wedding at the bike shop, they wonder when Ken will pop the question to Miyuki. Ken sees the wedding dress and pictures Miyuki wearing it, so maybe it will be soon.
So, it looks like the wedding will be taking place outdoors in a parking lot. They built a nice altar with an interesting finishing touch – a cross made out of tools. And the bride is dressing in a RV.
The groom’s guests and the priest arrive on custom bikes. One bike looks like it’s right out of “Easy Rider”. Daimaru calls the guy “Peter” and he even looks like Peter Fonda. Too funny!
Then the bride’s guests arrive in custom cars. Between the bikes and the cars, Miyuki is in a mechanic’s heaven!
The priest gets up on the altar and talks about the “hot machines” and the “hot babes” and says “let’s party!” He announces a race and the winner will get a kiss from the bride, but the female guests want to know what they will get if they win and Daimaru says it will be a kiss from him. By their reaction, I’m guessing they won’t be racing after all. Miyuki steps in and says that they can’t have a race and shows the priest her badge, causing him to make the race a slow one.
Miyuki sees Ken on one of the bikes and gives him a hard time while he swears his dad made him do it because he can’t join in the race, since he’s the groom. She pretends that she is only teasing him, but she really is upset, because she doesn’t want him kissing Sena.
Poor ken has a dilemma. He considers losing on purpose, because Miyuki will kill him if he wins, but his dad will kill him if he loses. He exclaims – “even if I win, I lose!”
The guys race so slowly that a gull perches on one of the guy’s helmets. The rule is if you put your foot down, you’re out of the race. Since they are going so slow, it’s hard not to do that, so many are disqualified. When it is only the priest and Ken left, Ken is kind of hoping he’ll lose, but the priest runs out of gas and puts his foot down, leaving Ken to win by default. That race took all day – the sun is already setting!
Miyuki is a little sad that Ken won and Sena calls for her to come to the RV. Natsumi escorts Ken to the RV to claim his prize kiss. As the door opens, Natsumi helps the “bride” step down and sees that it’s Miyuki. Ken whispers to her that maybe they should only pretend to kiss, but the “bride” reaches up and gives him a big kiss on the cheek, leaving her lipstick behind. I can’t believe that Ken didn’t even realize that it was Miyuki! As he stands next to her, her earring catches the light and Ken looks at it.
So, they have a beautiful night wedding, illuminated by all the vehicle’s headlights. The guests sang quite a nice song that seemed very appropriate for the occasion.
When the bride throws her bouquet, Ken notices that her earrings are different and looks a little confused. Is he really that dense? And he still has the lipstick on his cheek! Anyway, Aoi catches the bouquet and the rest of the girls are a little annoyed at that.
As the happy newlyweds take off on Daimaru’s bike, Ken is standing next to Miyuki waving at them. He glances over at Miyuki and sees her earrings. They are the same as the “bride’s” – is it finally dawning on him who really kissed him???
It was a wonderful, if unusual wedding. A really great episode!
I guess that we are just supposed to take it for granted that they’ve been going out since their first date. I’ve never really seen them actually go out after work or anything. But the girls were talking like they were going out regularly. You got me!
