Win!
I still say this show needs a character modeled after the lead in “Boys don’t cry.” What a match up!
Ah good point. That was a very good film as well.
Ep. 23
Ken you dolt you have a wonderful women in love with you. Warm up those cold feet. I loved Miyuki showing the badge as a reason for not having the race. The reaction from the priest was perfect. In the end the slow race looked much harder then a fast one would have been. As soon as Sena waved Miyuki into the RV knew what she was up to. Was surprised only Natsume noticed. Sena’s hair is brown and Miyuki’s is black. I do think Ken had some idea of what happened after he saw Miyuki’s earring. One thing Miyuki sure was beautiful in that dress. As for the bouquet figured it would either be Aoi or Miyuki. I’m glad Aoi got it but I know a TS who is like a sister to me.
I loved the preview. Talking about Aoi being a rose but this one with a thorn.
I become a bigger fan of this show with every episode.
Episode 24 -
This was a surprisingly sad episode.
A man in a fancy sports car gives Natsumi a bouquet of white roses to give to Aoi, creating a mystery.
A famous actor that is multi-talented, rich and single comes to the station to be “Chief for a day” and has the whole office excited. He has requested Aoi as his personal assistant/bodyguard because they already know each other from working together before at another police station.
There is a flashback of Aoi telling him that she likes white roses best because they are the color for respect.
At an autograph signing, some of the children see Aoi and come over to talk to her. The actor watches the scene and I got the feeling that he must be thinking that she will make a good mother someday.
He asks Aoi to get some more flyers out of the storage room, but once she is alone, she is confronted by two obsessed fans of the actor that would like her out of the way. They attack her, but the actor saves her and chases the fans off. Aoi is a little shaken up and almost faints, but he picks her up in his arms and says that he will take care of her. There seems to be some strong feelings here on both their parts.
During the parade, Aoi rides in the care with the actor. He manages to ask her if she is seeing anyone and she says she isn’t, so he tries to ask her out but gets interrupted by the noise of the parade.
Back at the station, he leaves Aoi a note to meet him on the roof. She goes up to the roof and finds him standing on his hands. He says that he was trying to get up the courage to tell her of his feelings and asks her to marry him.
I don’t know what her answer was, but she is next seen coming down the stairs from the roof and she looks pretty upset. The others are waiting for her to go to the party with them, but she says that she’ll join them later.
Later, at the party, Aoi finally shows up, but she is dressed as a man. Outside, she speaks to the actor alone. The noise from the fountain drowns out what she’s saying exactly, but it’s plain that she is telling the actor that she’s a man. This was so heartbreaking!
The actor says that he feels like an idiot and thanks her for being honest with him. He compliments her on her courage to be herself. Aoi tells him not to hate her and gives him a white rose. Ok, I admit I teared up here. It was a beautiful scene.
The next day, everyone at the station is watching the actor give an interview on TV. He is wearing the white rose. One of the reporters asks him if the rose is from someone special and he says that it is. He tells them that a white rose means that you value and respect someone as a person. He says that he “met a beautiful person who will always have a special place in my heart.” As Aoi watched, I think she was very happy to hear him say this. The actor didn’t hate her after all and by wearing the rose, he sent her a message that he still respected her. And as sad as it was, it was nice to see an episode focused on Aoi.
Ep. 24
I like Aoi also so was nice to see her get an episode. The actor was a great guy the way he handled the situation with Aoi. A women who is like a sister to me is a Transsexual and I really liked how they handled this episode. They could have just made a joke of it but it was very touching.
That is very true ShawnMerrow, since this is a comedy, but I think it was handled perfectly as well.
I have to agree as well. I found this episode very touching, and I think it might be my favorite so far.
Episode 25 -
Strikeman is back! He’s calling Natsumi “Home Run Girl” and she gives the best line of the episode when she asks – “which asylum is missing its loony?” Very funny! He uses his “strike-mega-force-ultimate-universary-arranger” (I think) ball, but Natsumi still hits it out of the park. However, when Natsumi tells him to come to the station as he promised, he runs off, saying that he had his fingers crossed. The girls run to the car to chase him, only to find their tires slashed. Natsumi grabs the mini bike, but those tires are slashed as well. Strikeman says that the “strike screwdriver always gets them” as he takes off, but someone is photographing them, and the incident makes the newspaper.
Strikeman gets conned into robbing a bank and the girls figure out right away that he’s being used. Yoriko poses as the teller and just hands over all the money in three cases when Strikeman asks for it. She even thanks the confused Strikeman for his business and tells him to come again. He is just so gullible!
There is a transmitter in the cases and the plan is to catch the real crooks, but the crooks meet Strikeman and only take one case. He then runs after them, trying to give them the other two cases, but Natsumi grabs one and takes off on a juiced up skateboard. They need to get him to the crook’s hideout, so he can see for himself that they are really criminals. So, Strikeman then runs after Natsumi, calling her a “pilfering wench”. She eventually crashes, but is able to hand the case off to Aoi and Yoriko in the car and Strikeman runs after them. They hit a dead end street and Natsumi takes the case back and makes Strikeman follow her.
She finally leads him to the hideout where the criminals, as well as Strikeman discover that the cases are full of fake money. Natsumi and Miyuki try to explain to Strikeman that he had been conned by thieves, but he’d rather blame “Home Run Girl”. Natsumi says that he is aiding and abetting the real crooks and “couldn’t find a clue if it was alone in a bucket”. She tells him to come to the station, but he says that they have “unfinished business”. So, as the criminals are taken away, the episode ends as it began. There is another game, Natsumi hits the ball and Strikeman runs away. He must have had his fingers crossed again! A funny episode, but I’m still not all that crazy about Strikeman.
I thought episode 24 was well-handled too. Especially coming from a show that normally never takes things too seriously.
Ep. 26
Aoi sure looks good in that red dress. Ken sure can’t dance and Natsume looks like she was in her happy place with the chief. I figured the guy who went after Aoi was just a pervert. That was a nice performance of the Nutcracker. I think Ken seeing Miyuki in the red dress just about broke him. She was very hot in that dress. I do wonder what was the slashers problem with red dresses? I wish they had him say. At least Ken scored some major points with Miyuki and Natsume was very happy at the end.
OK, I have to say it-a new open, a new end credits and… NO CREDITS! What is/was it with these people? Was the dub house going to charge them by the letter? They don’t even have the Japanese credits!
ShawnMerrow
Yes Natsume was very much in her happy place. Ken and Miyuki lack of relationship still makes me mad! but every show has that couple.
The first two episode that aired had all the animeigo credits, however, they have been credit free since then. It may be a licensing issue. Animeigo still has DVD rights to the show and produced the dub with Coastal Carolina, but TAN’s deal was with the Japanese rights holders. That may cause some issues there. Or it could be that the Japanese just didn’t supply credits beyond the first episode.
Episode 26 -
I think it’s funny that Ken still has problems asking his supposed girlfriend out. What a bundle of nerves!
Detective Tokuno needs help on a case and has come to ask Aoi for a favor. He explains that someone is attending fancy parties and targeting beautiful young women that wear red dresses, slashing the dress, but never hurting the victim. He’d like Aoi to go undercover as a guest at one of these parties and she accepts. The detective then chooses Ken as her backup, thinking they can pose as a couple, but Ken tries to get out of it until Miyuki says that he’s the perfect choice. The rest of the squad will act as support.
On board a yacht, they prepare for the operation, with Aoi wearing a beautiful red dress. Ken looks very handsome in his suit and calls himself a “babe magnet”. As Aoi straightens his tie, Yoriko says that they make a cute couple then questions Natsumi’s outfit. She is going undercover as well and gets a little cozy with the Chief as her date. Miyuki and Yoriko will pose as waitresses.
Aoi makes a real splash, but tells Ken that they need to blend in, so they should dance together. Ken doesn’t want to but Aoi leads him to the dance floor anyway and as they dance, there are comments – “oh man, is he lucky” and “don’t they make the cutest couple!" There is also a sinister face in the crowd watching them with a gleam in his eye. Miyuki is also watching them dance and is perhaps a little jealous. And Ken isn’t a very smooth dancer either – kind of looks like a monkey.
When Aoi goes to the powder room, she is followed by a man. A woman tries to pick Ken up, asking him for a dance but just as he accepts, Miyuki asks him if he’d like a drink and the woman leaves. Miyuki asks him where Aoi is and Ken realizes that she’s been gone a while. Aoi is on the deck with the man and he is backing her up against the railing. As he makes a play for her, she says “you’re him” but I get the feeling that he really isn’t. Natsumi and Miyuki are searching for her and hear her scream. They run to where she is just in time to see her knee the guy between the legs. I thought it was funny when she thought she may have done it a little too hard - especially since the guy’s face was turning blue! The man gets arrested and the detective tells them all that they can enjoy the rest of the evening, but another man is watching them.
Aoi insists that she and Miyuki exchange clothes so Miyuki can spend some time with Ken. He takes her to the buffet and stuffs his face with stew as the other man watches them. Later, Ken is still eating, but finally compliments Miyuki and she cuddles against his arm, saying that he’s sweet and calling him “Kenny”. He blushes, but then gets a stomachache and runs to the bathroom leaving Miyuki to look after him with an amused expression.
The man passes her in the hallway and slashes her dress. I knew they arrested the wrong guy! She quickly lassos him, but he cuts it and Miyuki realizes they arrested the wrong man. He knows they’re cops and tries to stab Miyuki, but Natsumi comes down the stairs and Miyuki calls for help. Natsumi tries to stop the guy, but he sprays sleeping gas and knocks her out. He then turns his attention back to Miyuki and slashes her dress again, wanting to hear her scream. Ken comes out of the bathroom and grabs the hand holding the knife, but gets gassed as well.
However, as the man steps over Ken’s body to pursue Miyuki, Ken grabs his ankle and gets sprayed again. He manages to keep his hold and tells Miyuki to run, but Miyuki tries to attack the man from behind. He grabs her and holds the knife to her, but Ken is able to pull the guy back and tells Miyuki to run again. This time she reluctantly does, but doesn’t go very far and Ken knocks the man down, finally succumbing to the gas. The guy tries to stab Ken, as Miyuki screams but he misses and tries again. A hand grabs him and it’s the detective! He easily overpowers the man and Miyuki hugs him. The detective says that he came back when they realized that the guy they arrested didn’t have a weapon, so he knew the slasher was still on board. Ken begins to snore and Miyuki gets on the floor to place his head on her lap while Natsumi stretches and rolls over.
Natsumi later wakes up in the Chief’s lap and says she’s “died and gone to heaven” and closes her eyes again. Ken and Miyuki are outside and she’s attempting to tend to his injuries, before sharing a sweet moment together. Too cute!
Am I the only person that found it a bit funny that:
despite all the women present in Bokuto precinct, they chose the tranny for this mission…lol But I guess I can see their point. Aoi is classier than most of the other girls in the precinct, and she’s actually turning into one of my favorite characters.
Well -
The detective did say that Aoi was the only one that was Vice trained, although I don’t see where that had anything to do with it when it actually came down to it - any female could have kneed that guy! But she definitely has class and after that one episode that focused on her, I think she is becoming one of my favorites as well.
Yoriko on the other hand… Well, if she had whined anymore in this episode, I was ready to throw her overboard!
Yeah, I can totally sympathize with that! LOL
