YuruYuri / Ōmuro-ke

This kinda makes me sad.
As much as I wanted this licensed, I was really hoping it would be a Sentai release.

NISA Adds Yuruyuri School Comedy Anime Series

1st season of adaptation of Namori’s manga to ship on BD with hardcover book extra on September 3

NIS America (NISA), the American subsidiary of the Nippon Ichi Software game company, announced on Thursday that it will release the first season of the Yuruyuri television anime series on September 3. NISA will release the series with Japanese audio and English subtitles in a two-disc Blu-ray Disc premium edition box set. Included with the boxset is a hardcover full-color art book with an episode guide, character and promotional art, and interviews with the Amusement club and student council members. Video extras include clean openings and endings and B-side episode previews. The set will retail for US$64.99.

NISA also confirmed with ANN that it will release the second season of the series, Yuruyuri♪♪, in early 2014.

The 12-episode Yuruyuri anime adapts Namori’s manga about four fun-loving schoolgirls who take over the former room of a tea ceremony club for their own “Gorakubu” (amusement club). The voice actresses who play the four club members — Shiori Mikami, Yuka Ōtsubo, Minami Tsuda and Rumi Ookubo — also perform the opening and ending theme songs.

Masahiko Ohta (Kotoura-san, Mitsudomoe, Minami-ke) directed the series at studio Dogakobo. Takashi Aoshima (Minami-ke, Brighter than the Dawning Blue, Love Lab) handled the series composition, and Yasuhiro Misawa (Minami-ke, Kokoro Connect, Mitsudomoe) handled the music.

The anime premiered in Japan in July 2011, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The 12-episode sequel series Yuruyuri♪♪ aired last year, and Crunchyroll also streamed that series as it aired. JManga and ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down last month.

I understand, but NISA does put out quality releases with enough extras to make them worth the money.

So, this is still good news.

Yeah, sure…if you’re into all those extras and whatnot, then great. But for some of us, like me, all those extras are just useless swag that’ll be forgoten and collecting dust. My days of collecting swag were pretty much done somewhere in the early 2k’s.

Just give me a soundtrack and I’m good. Artbox…meh, art book…ehhh, postcards…why?

That swag money can go instead for a Happy Meal that’ll I’ll enjoy eating while watching me some anime.

NISA releases are nice, though I’m not a big fan of the shiny, light boxes they use. But I’m sort of the same camp as Tonka. The extras are nice, but I will never use most of them and will eventually pitch them. Not to mention, I have a hard time figuring out where to put their boxes, as its deeper than the case I put my DVDs on, and it’s too tall to put on its side. I would prefer something with a normal DVD or Bluray box size.

Yeah, I’m pretty much in agreement.
My collection is big enough now, that physical extras really mean nothing to me these days. It’s like all the AoA Oreimo package stuffing, I took a look at them the day I opened it, other than that, I’ll never been looking at it again. It really is a waste.

Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi! to open in 5 theaters in November

Pony Canyon began streaming a preview video for the upcoming original video animation Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi! (a deliberate misspelling of “natsu yasumi,” or “summer vacation”) on Saturday. The OVA will open in five theaters in Japan on November 29.

Akari: Akari! Yahoo! It’s me, Akari Akaza. For this year’s summer vacation, we went to a camp! Today, I’ll give you a sneak peak at that!
Text: I’m hungry~ I want to eat meat~
Text: Meat!? I LOVE meat!
Text: I heard there was barbecued meat!
Text: We’ll take some, too.
Text: OK! We should capture a cow, then!
Text: It’s good weather, so let’s make it a barbecue!
Text: It’s obvious that the dessert will have to be rum raisin!
Akari: Huh!? What’s up with these subtitles!?
Text: Aoi Mukai, your favorite food is carrots, right?
Text: I will return bell peppers to you immediately.
Akari: Anyway, it was our first time doing a camp just with Akari and the group, so I was a bit nervous, but we did cooking and ghost walks, so it was lots of fun!
Text: Oof… I think I ate too much.
Text: Don’t forget Good Meat Day! [Ii Niku no Hi, a Japanese pun on 11-29 or November 29]
Akari: I’d be really happy if everyone would watch! Now then! Yuriyuri Nachu Yachumi! The pre-order tickets are selling very well!

Participating theaters are offering a limited number of advance tickets with two different, randomly distributed ticket holders illustrated by character designer Motohiro Taniguchi.

The cast remains the same from the earlier anime, but the staff has change. Hiroyuki Hata (Kamichu!, Recently, my sister is unusual.) replaces Masahiko Ohta as director. Michiko Yokote (Red Data Girl, Squid Girl) handles the scripts, and Motohiro Taniguchi ( To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness, Recently, my sister is unusual. animation director) replaces character designer Chiaki Nakajima and serves as chief animation director. Pony Canyon today posted the previews for the OP and ED song for the upcoming OVA YuruYuri Nachuyachumi! on its official YouTube channel. The video for the OP song “YuruYurinrinrinrinrin” features a cute dance performance by the four members of the Nanamori Middle School Amusement Club: Shiori Mikami (Akari Akaza), Minami Tsuda (Yui Funami), Rumi Ohkubo (Chinatsu Yoshikawa), and Yuka Otsubo (Kyoko Toshinou). The voice actress unit also performs the ED song “After School Days,” but its video only has sound. The CD singles for both songs will be released in Japan simultaneously on November 26.

For some reason, the OVA is animated by TYO Animations (Tamayura, La Corda d’Oro Blue Sky), instead of Dogakobo which produced the two TV anime series from 2011 to 2012. It will have limited theatrical screenings in five theaters in Japan on November 29 before the release of its DVD/Blu-ray.
