The train has made it to Lilliane and the group is taken to a hotel. As they move away, Will turns back to look at Stork. At the hotel, Allison is sharing a room with Fi and is annoyed to have been separated form the guys. She’s upset that her “big plan” is about to fail, but Fi still offers to help her. In the room directly below them, it looks like Will and Benedict are discussing something important.
The next day, the girls have been told to make themselves pretty and as they wait outside the hotel, a big car pulls up. They are joined by Will and Benedict. Both men look very dashing and Benedict is wearing his dress uniform. They are taken to a beautiful little church in the picturesque countryside and Fi fusses because she forgot her camera.
They all enter the church and make their way up the aisle. Benedict tells Fi that this is a special day as he hands her a bouquet of flowers. And then he asks her to marry him! Fi isn’t sure what to do and Benedict waits in agony for her answer before she finally says yes. There is no priest and apparently none is required as they exchange vows and the kiss. Allison and Will are witnesses and I guess that is all you need to get married here. It was truly beautiful and Allison started to get a little excited. I think she was waiting for Will to propose to her as well and seemed annoyed when he didn’t take her hint.
Fi is a Princess and I thought it funny that she was more worried about how the villagers would take her marriage to Benedict than her subjects. I’m also surprised but extremely pleased that Benedict has settled down. Allison and Will congratulate the newlyweds and Fi hands Allison her bouquet. Fi winks at her, saying it will be her turn next and Allison turns to Will, gushing with happiness.
Another car stops in front of the church and Stork runs inside. He says late and Allison asks why he is there. Stork says that Benedict invited him and he also congratulates the newly wed couple. Stork also gives them an update on the Gautier case. It seems that the guilty will be punished, but then he tells them that Major Stork was never on that train. Benedict says he wonders if in fact Major Stork exists at all.
Stork informs them that they will be returning home instead of continuing on to the capital. He says that they shall probably never meet again, but it was fun. Stork says goodbye to them and walks off. Will watches him and with a determined look on his face, pulls out a gun from his bag and aims it at Stork’s back. Everyone looks on in shock as Will pulls the trigger!
The bullet hits Stork on the shoulder and harmlessly bounces to the floor – the bullet was rubber! Another man runs into the church with his gun drawn and asks the “Colonel” if he’s all right. Stork tells the man he’s fine and instructs him to return to the car. Will steps forward and says that he needs to speak with Stork.
Will presents Stork with another possible reason for his mission and why his plans changed at the last minute. Will turns to look at Allison and she questions him. He puts the pieces together and says that Stork saved her life instead of taking it and that his reason must be because he knows her. Allison says that she doesn’t remember even meeting him before, but Will encourages her to take a good look at him and think back. Fi suddenly notices something and Benedict tells her to leave it to Will.
Allison just can’t place Stork and turns to Will for an answer. Will gives her some more hints and Stork asks him what he is trying to say. Will compliments Stork, saying that without him, they might have all died. Will then thanks Stork for bringing him and Allison together at the orphanage and goes on to compliment Allison. Will thanks Stork once again and calls him by name – Major Oscar Whittington! Allison gasps and acting confused, turns to Will again for an explanation.
Will puts it plainly and says that the man standing before her that she knows as Major Stork is actually her father. As she stands there in disbelief, Stork says that Will is right. There is a flashback where a completely different looking Oscar Whittington places the care of his daughter in Lady Muto’s hands. A much younger Will bursts into the room and gets to meet Allison’s father. Back in the present, Allison is now denying that Stork is her father and says that her father was killed by his subordinate.
Stork corrects her and says that it was the other way around. He says that he switched places with the dead man and was able to complete his mission – one that prevented more bloodshed on both sides. However, this is when Gautier began his smuggling operation and why Stork accepted his current mission. He was very happy to see his daughter again, although he could not reveal himself.
Benedict asks for Stork’s current name and the Colonel tells him that it’s Acacia Cross. Will asks Allison is she believes the truth now and Allison says that she remembers her father differently. Will tells her to ask Stork about her childhood and while she ponders, Stork reminds her of her seventh birthday. After he tells her about the day, Allison finally believes him and Will. She pinches Will’s cheeks and Stork asks Will why he did this.
Will replies that he wanted Allison to know her father and Stork says that he isn’t worthy. Fi urges Allison to say something and I laughed when she waved at Stork and said – “Nice to see you again!” That was all she could come up with? Will berates her and I think they were all waiting for her to say something profound. Allison defends herself by saying that up until now, she had only known the man as Stork. I guess it will take her a little time to get used to the idea.
Stork asks Allison for her address and promises to write and send her birthday presents. Allison gets a little more excited and tells him that her birthday is the same. She says she doesn’t have an address but he can write to her at the squadron. However, she tells him that packages aren’t allowed and Stork seems saddened by this until Allison promises to answer his letters.
Allison and Will stand outside the church and Allison waves at the departing cars. Will asks why she didn’t want to leave with her father and she drags him back inside the church. Will asks Allison what’s wrong and she replies that she wants to tell him something that she hasn’t been able too. Allison says that once Will graduates from the academy, she hopes he will go to Confederate University. Will says he was considering that and an excited Allison says she will help with tuition and living expenses. Then she gets frustrated because she still can’t say “it’.
Will tells her that he might rent an apartment in the capital and if he does, maybe Allison would like to live with him. I like how she grabs Will and shaking him, asks if he’s telling the truth. Will protests that he is and Allison finally calms down. He tells her that he’s wanted to ask her for a long time and recent events have given him the courage to do so. Will says that he will probably have to rent a room in order to take the entrance exam, but Allison can use it and maybe even use the address to receive packages form her father. Allison asks if that is all, so Will mentions the rent, the cooking, the cleaning and says how things would be more convenient if the lived together.
Really angry now, Allison throws Will to the floor and straddling him, asks if there isn’t something a man and woman have to do before they live together. She then demands to know how Will feels about her and Will starts to talk about her courage, but she interrupts him. Allison says that isn’t what she means and asks to kiss him. Will doesn’t seem to want to and Allison reminds him of what they were just talking about. Will agrees to kiss her, but we don’t get to see it! Does that mean they are married too now? And how are they going to get back to town without a car? But I am glad they finally got things straightened out between them!
