Update to Updates Received/Not Received 12/1/16 :: Time Warner Cable :: Albany, NY :: Zip Code 12203

The short version:

Out of the Abyss of Hyperspace come Girls from Beyond the Wasteland, bearing this week’s episodes…on motorcycles? The shipment is complete–but like Fallen_Kusanagi, I, too, received Bakuon#1.

The long version:

Received:

Gate 17

Girls Beyond the Wasteland 1

Haikyu!! II 9

Hayate II 7

High School of the Dead 8

Locodol 6

Norn9 12

Patlabor 22

Re:Hamatora 9

Rin-ne 21

Strawberry Marshmallow 5

Utawarerumo II 8

Wake Up, Girls! 4

Missing in Action:

None

Appearing Incongruously:

Bakuon 1

Notes:

  1. This week’s crop of name changes: Patlabor #22 goes back to “Patlabor Police”; High School of the Dead #8 goes back to “HOTD 08”, Utawarerumo II #8 goes to “Utawarerumo0108”; Wake Up, Girls #4 goes to “Wake Up0104”; and after a week cooped up in a pressure dome on Mars, the Strawberry Marshmallow girls wisely decided the marsh wasn’t so bad, and moved back to “Strawberry Marsh 05”;

  2. The On Demand Portal hasn’t now updated, yet, but there is one thing I didn’t mention from last week: Hayate II #6 is listed by itself under Season One instead of Season Two;

  3. We’ll see what happens to Haikyu!! II #6 and Wake Up, Girls! #1 when the episodes they’re merged with hit their expiration dates;

  4. OK, so what does Stan Freberg have to with laconic nonsense? Fast forward to college, when I’m fiddling with my car radio and on comes Stan Freberg’s old–but new to me–John and Marsha, where Freberg has his two characters go through the entire arc of their relationship from first meeting through falling in love, breakups, makeups, etc., saying nothing but each other’s names in varied inflections: “John,” “Marsha?” “John!” “Marsha!” “Johnnnn” “Mmmarsha.” Pretty laconic, no? And reminiscent of the very common anime trope where characters say or think someone’s name, nothing more, in a way that’s supposed to express all of their deep and complex emotions towards then. (And allows the writers to dodge actually having to write words that convey those emotions.) I mean, to give just one example, if I had a dollar (OK, ten bucks, I’m greedy) for every time this happened in Naruto (“Naruto,” “Sakura,” “Sasuke!” “Hinata”)…

And now we’ve finished this long digression.

“But Jababbi, you promised us laconic nonsense, and you’ve been as logorrheic as ever! Talking about other people’s laconic nonsense isn’t itself laconic nonsense, any more than your talking about funny, interesting people makes you funny or interesting.”

Ouch! Point taken.
Hmm…[thinking]

Quick Update to Update to Updates Received/Not Received 12/1/16 :: Time Warner Cable :: Albany, NY :: Zip Code 12203

Basically, no changes on the Cutting Edge side–everything’s fine (apart from name changes and Bakuon being there, which aren’t “mission critical”). But the On Demand Portal side still hasn’t updated, so the new episodes aren’t available there.

On the plus side, Wake Up, Girls! the movie deleted nicely, leaving just the formerly-merged
Wake Up, Girls! #1 behind–so that’s one problem resolved. I want to see what happens when they finally get around to adding Norn9 #12 to the On Demand side, and then try to summarize what we know about the merged episode stuff so far.

Thanks!

Please forgive the busybody intrusion, but do you generally watch your episodes via the old Cutting Edge channel or via the new On Demand Portal? Are the episodes missing from both?

Thanks!

When I watch On Demand, I use the Cutting Edge channel. I don’t seem to have access to the Portal you keep mentioning.

However, I almost always watch my shows on the Anime Network Online Player.

Good evening. I received an update today so I wanted to post what arrived.

December

To Love Ru season 1 part 1 (Really happy to see this one again. It was the first Sentai Filmworks show I watched when I had Bright House :slight_smile: )

Norn9 complete series
Something weird about Norn9 however, episode 11 does not show up on the Television On Demand menu, but it is available on the Xfinity On Demand app :confused:
