I’m guessing Anime Network got a little fed up with the constant issues with their old provider. It seems like this could be a good move for everyone. Not to mention, it could help them make further inroads with Comcast. I hope this goes well.
and this means what exactly?

im getting that the thursday update for TAN this week might not happen at all…such as transitions often have problems. that is about all i can read into that gibberish.

what does it mean to TAN viewers?
It means Slowhand may have nothing to do on Thursdays from now on. I wouldn’t worry about Thursday’s delivery-the people at iNDEMAND invented VOD. The company is owned by Comcast, Cox, Time-Warner Cable and Brighthouse Networks, so they know what they’re doing.
 that is funny what i bolded, and Brighthouse is a subsidiary of TWC or something like that… TWC owns them, so Brighthouse cant really own anything.

also in the matter of TWC wanting to close internet streaming to people without TWC services, this may be a foot in the door, to prevent people form subscribing to TAN site to view programs, or even guest, unless they have one of those 4 cable providers as well as have them as ISP.

very frightening to me since i follow closely the ISP wars in regards to how they want to control what is on the internet and what can be accessed if an ISP is also a TV service provider. and since TWC is pretty much writing the laws for states and even the FCC in regards to the internet AND TV services (DTV was in part because of TWC)…then it becomes even more scarier to give them ANY control over something they didn’t have before.

remember it was Glen Britt that said the average person could afford $500 for internet and TV because he is out of touch with his $16+ million per year salary and stock options.

anywho. im very skeptical about all this

People say that change is good…for people other than me, that is.

I’ve got TAN on Charter SVOD, and I’m a little worried about how this might impact me…

They are simply moving from one company delivering their content, to another. This company may be owned by several cable companies, but it provides On Demand content to nearly every cable and satellite system out there. They provide HGTV, Food Network, and others with VOD service as well and those are generally available on most providers.

No need to worry.

Brighthouse isn’t owned by Time Warner. They use to co-own several cable systems with Time Warner, and TW handles negotiation with network owners, but that is pretty much the extent of their partnership. Most of the systems the two owned together were acquired outright by Brighthouse.

well it seems a bit weird road runner still asks to choose between brighthouse and time warner as a service provider…and its listed on a TWC website. there is a hidden stronger connection between these two it seems.

and the way ALL new TWC controlled VOD works, it seems to disable the newest weeks episodes fast-forward. which i hope doesnt happen for TAN, because that means i will be waiting a week to watch anything in the event i need to skip through porn like the hooker in Golgo, and the intros. guess i will find out, if/when i get a chance to check today’s update.

EDIT: http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,183/catid,5/func,view/id,103477/limit,10/limitstart,810/#116739

so far just the delivery is a failure for the most part, havent even tried to watch anything yet in the mess of schedule to see if it has playback problems similar to disabling fast-forwarding or other things, but so far being a skeptic cynic was right on the money.

I hereby withdraw the preceding statement. :frowning:

I still think last year’s attempt to censor Free 30 VOD feeds was much more fun!

ahhh the move to try to get micro subscriptions with pay-per-porn anime…that had the exact Hidemari Sketch episodes that was on wherever TAN moved when COED disappeared. but at least then episodes were DELIVERED and TAN wasnt…teehee…missing for nearly a month on most SVOD services… oops!

not sure at this point which is a better business move…

Cartoons (that most adults feel are for kids [no pun intended]) on a porn channel so as to expose their children/young adults to porn…

OR

charging monthly fees for subscriptions and not delivering any content.

maybe the STD forum could host the SNAFU awards and let TAN forums members pick the winner?

just so nobody forgets WHY all the recent problems occur…and to have information for forum goers in a same-place type thing…

Regarding Ongoing VOD Issues

Hey Cable Subscribers - Some of our technical difficulties have persisted, but we hope AT&T, Bend and Mediacom subscribers will have new episodes starting June 14. Charter, DirecTV and Time Warner should have new content by early next week. We apologize for the inconvenience. ;____;

This is not something that has gone off of our radar. We are hands on with this every day until it gets resolved, so rest assured that we haven’t moved it aside. Thanks everyone for your infinite patience, and once again, we are all over this!
And so, after several weeks experience, how is this new relationship working out for TAN?

For us *DirecTV *subscribers, it doesn’t look too good. :frowning:

Update 11:15 am PDT: DirecTV TAN VOD updates were released while I was writing this. I offer no apology as no meaningful notice for this update was posted in advance. My question still stands - how is it working out?

Not working out too good. My bookmarker “watched” episodes are about to expire from my DirecTV DVR, and the gap of missing episodes is still there, blocking my watching the following episodes. Maybe it’s time to stop watching TAN and catch up on the three other legal streaming services which I am subscribed to. If TAN is going to make me look elsewhere for these shows, I may as well watch stuff elsewhere.

Sigh. Two months and still lots of problems for some subscribers. :frowning:

Content reduced by about half on the free30 side, to boot. And nothing from TAN officially about it.

And that is if your provider bothers to post VOD updates at all.
The update record has been poor for DirecTV, as well as others, since May.
Perhaps this is TAN’s answer.
