FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sentai Filmworks Licenses “Mouretsu Pirates”

HOUSTON, December 29, 2011— Prepare to be boarded by stellar entertainment on a galactic scale as Sentai Filmworks announces the impending escape of the rollicking, hit space opera MOURETSU PIRATES! What happens when Teen Chic meets Pirate Technique? Find out when Director Tatsuo Sato (MARTIAN SUCCESSOR NADESICO, NINJA SCROLL TV, STELLVIA) returns to the familiar waters of comedy and interplanetary adventure and deftly steers the bestselling MINI-SKIRT PIRATE novels by Yuichi Sasamoto (VENUS WARS, ARIEL) on a course to become an all new 26 episode anime masterpiece, while Noriyuki Matsumoto’s brilliant original characters designs are adapted for animation by the team of Akira Yasuda (TURN A GUNDAM) and Hiroshi Takeuchi (BIG O, XENOGLOSSIA.) There’s plenty of pillage and yo-ho-ho-ing ahead in the most plunder-full adventure epic of the year, MOURETSU PIRATES!

Most families have a skeleton or two in the closet, but Marika is understandably shocked to learn that what her family has been hiding is a skull and crossbones! And while the revelation that her late father was a space pirate would have been earthshaking enough for most teenage girls, discovering that he was the captain of the notorious pirate ship Benten Maru will change Marika’s life forever. Because, you see, pirating is a family business, and she’s just inherited the position of captain. And her father’s former crew is quite intent on making sure Marika accepts the job! So what’s a girl to do? Well, if you’re a high school student whose prior total naval experience has been working at the space yacht club, there’s really only one moral dilemma that has to be resolved: are pirates allowed to wear really short mini-skirts? Get ready for intergalactic buccaneering unlike any you’ve ever seen before as the spaceways get broad-sided by cutting lasses, curvy knaves and the sexiest pirate’s chest ever in MOURETSU PIRATES!

MOURETSU PIRATES will simulcast premier on Crunchyroll starting January 7, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (GMT-8). Additional digital outlets and TV broadcast will follow starting in February with DVD and Blu-Ray to follow.

Satelight’s Moretsu Pirates Anime Delayed Until 2012

Why is it, that I actually find myself thinking that this will get a simulcast, and then followed up with thinking…
I’m ok with this.”

'cause you’re being mesmerized by it’s yuriness potential, I know I am. And it’s by Satelight, Sentai’s released/ simulcast some SL shows…hmmm, tin foil hat don’t fail me now.

Was it just me, or did anyone else, while reading the synopsis, get the thought:

“Good to see Captain Taylor/Harlock’s kid following in her father’s footsteps.”

This is true!

I would be kind of surprised if it was actually Sentai that picked this one up for simulcast immediately.

Though I do see it as a possible later pick up by them, just because it kind fits in with their catalog.

I’ll kind of hold off on judgement on that though, at least until the first promo/trailer comes out.

Not that I would mind if they did, I’m just kind of hoping they pick up Another.

Looks like they revamped the homepage, as well as putting up another PV.

As well as adding an English website.

The English website has always been there.
That’s where I got the YT vid of the first PV.

I don’t list it because they don’t do much with it, and you can get to it from the top of the JP page.
What’s there now is how it’ll always be.
It was the same with C³.

That said, the more I see of this the more I want to see it!
I’ve watched both PVs several times now (I really like the songs) and I’m actually hoping Sentai picks this up.

There’s a rumor due to some hidden image links that CR might have it.
I’d much rather watch it here on TAN though, due to the quality difference/no commercials since I don’t have a subscription there.

ANN is slow some times!
But at least they posted a YT version (though I’m pretty sure it’s not a legit one, since it’s not on the Eng page).

-edit-

Fun Fact of the Day:

Marty Friedman (Ex-Megadeth guitarist) played the guitar solo in the new PV with Momoiro Clover.

So, the first episode is getting pretty good reviews on ANN.

Zac, of all people, even actually gave it a 5 of 5!

Those ratings are very promising. Looks like I may have found another surprise like Chu-Bra.

Starts On The Anime Network Online Player: February 14th @ 3PM EST

Language: Japanese w/English Subtitles

Rated: TV 14

Episode 01 is now LIVE on ANO

I’ve been watching it on CR and I have to say it’s very, very good! I’ll have to watch it on ANOP to see how they handle the subtitles.

Episode 02 is now LIVE on ANO

Episode 03 is now LIVE on ANO

I can’t say that I’m blown away by this show, but it is better than I expected. By Far. I’m hoping that it gets the streaming numbers to get a dub and I’m doing my part to that end.

On that, since I’m currently watching Orphen, I keep hearing Hilary Haag as the voice of the “Electronic Warfare Specialist”. I think it must be the similar glasses
