Since they are together it probably means a Wendy’s Frosty is not $68 since they are the Wendy’s/Arby’s Group.
Arby’s and Wendy’s are linked? That would do much to explain why every single Wendy’s near me sucks. Due to the poor local service, the gimping of the Garden Salad side option and the removal of both the fried chicken entrees and the biscuit side option, I have really cut back on my Wendy’s visits.

BTW, I’d certainly hope that a Frosty isn’t $68!

If you have a fast food business, even in today’s economy, and cannot sell your signature item for $1; you have failed.
Costs go up and the value of the dollar goes down. If only there were ways to make meat cheaper, the dollar worth more and lower the general cost of doing business…

I’m not really a fan of Arby’s. As the Simpsons put it: “I’m so hungry, I could eat at Arby’s!” “Wow, that’s hunger!”

why does meat need to be cheaper? none of them actually use meat unless it is anus beef, and nobody wants that. :pinch:

I was under the impression that only Hardees used that.

Arby’s bought Wendy’s a few years ago, but sold off thr Arby’s chain in 2011 to better focus on Wendy’s, which was the more profitable of the two. The two are no longer owned by the same company. Wendy’s did keep a small percentage of Arby’s, but over 80% is owned by a private equity firm.

I’m surprised that Arbys had the $ to buy out a conpetitor. Considering how bad arbys was, that is a pretty plausible reason for Wendy’s being as bad as it now is, though it leaves me wondering why arbys hasn’t improved.

It’s amazing what investment bankers will lend money to do and who they will lend it to.

When I started thinking about it I realized that it’s been 20 years since I ate at an Arby’s. I used to work in an office next door to one and we got food from there a lot because nothing else local was even that close to edible, never again.

We used to eat at Wendy’s quite a lot in the “Dave” era, but they overextended themselves by buying Tim Horton’s in Canada and they ended up selling it at a loss then selling out to the Arby’s owners.

There’s a new Wendy’s just a couple of miles from our house, my wife and sons say it’s good but I’m not motivated to experiment with it. :S

I actually enjoy Arby’s, at least more than most fast food places. Though I tend to enjoy their turkey sandwiches more than their beef. Wendy’s is another story. Their burgers aren’t bad, but they have the worst chicken sandwiches and their fries are terrible. They “improved” the recipe by actually making them worse. :stuck_out_tongue:

That goes without saying for not only food but other industries as well. They just don’t understand “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. For some reason they think they will change something and everyone who didn’t like it before will love it, and everyone who did like it wills till like it. No. You change something you have a whole new product and should understand that the new being the same will get you SOME return business, and some as well will still never want it. It is that vast middle ground you are competing for. (see New Coke)

They should just take a couple million each weekend to Vegas if they want to gamble all the time.

Come to think, were the fried chicken options at Wendy’s a regional-only thing?

If Arby’s really does, as their PR claims, smoke their beef for hours on end then, as a cost-saving measure, they could achieve the same results by quickly boiling and microwaving it

This isn’t related to anything being discussed currently, however does anyone know what this is from… and who this character is by any chance? It is on the tip of my tongue. I’m drawing an annoying blank though.

I’d forgotten about Reptilicus, that was one weird movie for a teenager to be watching in the early AM. I can still remember the beast’s severed foot wiggling around on the bottom of the ocean.

Yay… Power out at home. DTE’s outage map shows basically a line of outages, and my house is basically in the middle of that mess. Also, saw a news truck parked near my house at I left this morning. My area looks like a war zone.

Another Funimation QA debacle. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/07/29/funimation-clarifies-senran-kagura-release-information Sadly, Funimation’s response to QA issues has been to bury the affected shows.

If memory serves, one of the Funimation QA guys was interviewed on the extras for their War on Geminar. I’d hate to be that guy right about now.

This is just another entry on a long list of recent Funimation issues. What is going on in Flower Mound these days? :frowning:

Shipping cost are making selling large or collections of items a pain . Almost cheaper in gas for someone to come pick up in person anymore . Course some people are afraid they are going to get made to squeal like a pig .

THIS is why I hate my apartment during the summer.

5:45PM

**Outdoor Temp

85 °F / Humidity: 29%**

Indoor Temp

91 °F / Humidity: 49% / Heat Index = 96 °F

So, I had power Monday, but at some point in the day, I had caught something. I won’t go into details of how this started unless some asks.

Anyway, back to the power issue for a moment, we’ll get back to the sickness later.

As I was home on Tuesday, I noticed I had lost internet. Didn’t know why, but I assume it was because whatever DSL station near my house must have been without power too long for the batteries to last. All this time, when I reported my outage on DTE’s app, they kept sending me e-mails that my power was delayed… yet I had power… interesting. Internet did come back eventually though. (This is when DVDs are good!)

Wednesday, I went out for a bit, and saw a generator hooked to to a box I believe I seen AT&T work on before, so I assume that’s how they got internet back on before DTE said power should be working for my area. I think it was on this day I got that e-mail too.

Now back to the sickness…

Tuesday, whatever I was hit with, knocked me OUT! I couldn’t sit up (requirement to using my computer, so my computer was off all day, and for anyone who knows me, that’s a major event there!) so every thing I did, basically required me to be laying down. And I slept most of the day as well.

Wednesday, I can at least sit up, but I couldn’t really stand for long periods of time without feeling dizzy, so I had to sit after standing for a bit, so couldn’t really do much outside of the house, at the time I made my posts on the forums here (as it was my last stop online last night, and I suddenly was greeted with errors I don’t really remember now, just that they were 50x based. If I had more details, I would report it), I started feeling dizzy again, and as the time I was sitting up was no where near the time I would sit up at work, I called in today as well to be safe.

Now, I feel good, ready to get back to a normal life tomorrow.

I have a similar thermometer/hygrometer setup, also by Acurite. Currently mine reads “51% OK”…

Too much sunlight coming in (blackout shades FTW) and/or inadequate air circulation (fans, also, FTW lol) could explain the heat but what is causing the massive humidity spike? A humidity difference like that brings back bad memories of the time a family member had a disastrous experiment with one of those evaporation coolers.

Amusingly, I actually had my Vornado running on high pointed in that direction from the other side of the room.

This apartment in general is horrible for summer time.
It’s the second floor of a rather old building, with brick on the outside and has poor insulation.
It has a high celling, a Westward facing wall (which is the longest wall of the apartment), zero tree shade and two huge windows smack dab in the middle of the wall.
It gets the entire brunt of the sun from about 1PM to about 7:30PM during the summer.
The windows are covered by cheap venetian blinds and I have thick black curtains covering those (I know it’s bad, but I love black).

Several years ago, I had reflective styrofoam poster board covering the windows, which worked better than nothing, but the owner made me take them down so the blinds can be seen from the road.

The humidity is partially left over from nighttime, when I open up the apartment once it drops below 80 °F outside. I run an outtake fan in the kitchen window with an intake fan in another window. Then I close up the apartment when I get up in the morning, which traps all the humidity in the apartment. The other part of the humidity is me. I sweat… A LOT.
