The SpongeBob meal at Burger King!
Yami: “Okay. This meal ABSOLUTELY DESTROYS the Wendy’s SpongeBob meal from presentation alone! Look at just how adorable the packaging is!!!”
Nemesis: “Now on to the food itself!”
Mikan: “First off, the Whopper. While the burger itself is a normal Whopper, the bun is square and it’s so soft and pillowy! Next, the bacon cheese tots. And oh my God… Why didn’t they sell these sooner??? These are absolutely amazing!!! Savory bacon and cheddar stuffed tots!!! And the ranch dip only accents the flavor even more!!! The frozen pineapple float, is our primary disappointment, as it’s a Fanta pineapple slushie with cold foam on top of it, but our local store was out of the cold foam. However, the slushie itself is really good! In a way, reminiscent of Dole Whip at Disney! And finally, the Star-berry shortcake pie. It’s more of a strawberry mousse pie with a shortcake inspired crust. Honestly really good!”
Yami: “Not a single thing in this meal was a true disappointment, and even for the missing cold foam, it only was a minor irritation. Definitely worth trying at least once, even with the $16 price tag before tax!”
Nemesis: "Now if we could only go back in time and tell our former selves to not buy the travesty that was the Wendy’s Krabby Patty meal last October…"
We found the NKD chips!
Mikan: “The bags of Cheetos have a slightly cute and risque pic of Chester trying to cover himself up, despite being naked at all times aside from his glasses and shoes. Lol”
Nemesis: “As you can see, they’re all pretty much yellowish-white. Which I assume is exactly how they look without artificial food colouring added to them. I’m gonna let Yami go all out on them, since she’s the one who likes comparing stuff like this.”
Yami: “Thanks, Neme!” She looks deeply in thought. “Now a note. Two of these three flavors we usually don’t get that often, if at all, so I’m going by memory from the last time we had them. First up are the Flamin Hot Crunchy Cheetos. They’re definitely still very spicy with a hint of cheese, but the flavor profile is less pronounced, as if they only used about half the seasoning they would on the regular Flamin Hot Crunchy Cheetos. In addition, they’re much less oily than their normal variant. Secondly, the Cool Ranch Doritos. Again, very very good, but lighter levels of seasoning, with it being so light that the flavor doesn’t stay in your mouth throughout the time you’re eating the chip. And just like the FHCC, much less oilier than their normal variant. And finally, the Cheetos Puffs. Out of the three NKD flavors here, these are the only ones we commonly have, so will be much more discerning about them. Firstly, just like their NKD compadres, less oily and lighter levels of the seasoning on them. However, as we’re much more familiar with them, we can tell the flavor isn’t the normal Cheetos flavor. If you’ve had the Simply White Cheddar Cheetos Puffs before, the flavor profile is closer to those, as the cheese powder is closer to a white cheddar flavor than normal Cheetos cheddar flavor.” She sighs. “Overall, they are technically better for you, if only slightly, but truth be told, I’d rather get the regular variants of all three. Each one of the bags displayed in that picture costs $3.97 at the downtown Kissimmee Walmart, whereas a bag of the regular variants in equal sizes costs only $3. That’s pretty much $1 more per bag for an inferior version of something that’s bad for you anyways. Though, admittedly, would probably get the NKD Cheetos Puffs again if I was trying to cut out artificial food colouring completely out of my diet. They’re close enough to the regular ones to be an adequate replacement. The FHCC and CRD, don’t have them enough to want to buy more to begin with.”
Mikan: “Hey, Yami… There was another one, right?”
Yami gives a sly smirk. “Yes… But they’re gonna have to wait a bit for that one…”
Nemesis: “We did just open 3 bags of chips that we have to finish first after all!”
Nemesis: “We somehow missed this part of your post a while back.” She smiles evilly. “There’s something we should show you…”
So they took the older simply versions of these and fried instead of baked called them NKD?
Nemesis: “I guess? The Simply ones are $3.97 at Walmart, so there’s that too.”
Found these at the Walmart the other day!
Yami: “Okay. Flavorwise, they’re not bad at all. It’s literally a nacho cheddar stuffed chicken nugget. The problem is the texture. They aren’t crispy at all. However, the issue could be that we baked them. The instructions did primarily have air frying as the main way to cook them, but we don’t have an air fryer…”
These showed up at Wawa!
Yami: “The churro flavor is decent, but very underseasoned. Not bad, though do wish the flavor covered the entire taki.”
Yami: “They brought back Uncle Hershel’s Favorite!!!”
Mikan: “It’s biscuits and gravy with two eggs, grits, choice of meat, and choice of side! We got ours with their delicious baked blackened catfish, and the hashbrown casserole is mandatory! Lol.”
My friend was talking about these gums she used to enjoy when she was a child.
Low and behold, Cracker Barrel sells them, and there’s a location 2 miles from my Wawa!
Yami “Teaberry tastes kinda like winter mint, while Beemans is similar to cool mint. Black Jack is mild black licorice flavored, and Clove is the most interesting of all! It’s tastes just like a clove you would stick in a ham! I’m not sure if they’re the same flavor as they used to be, but definitely taking a pack of each to our NY friend the next time we visit her!”
Nemesis: “We’re finally trying the Baja Blast pie we got last month!”
Yami: “And something very very important. None of the food reviewers online reviewed this pie correctly. The instructions clearly state it is to be kept frozen and cut frozen, then thawed for a half hour in the fridge. Every video we’ve seen has them trying it fully thawed before cutting it… Trust me. It’s a world of difference, especially with how fragile the crust is…”
Mikan: “And I have to say it’s a really good pie! Basically, it’s a key lime pie with notes of Baja Blast added to it. I’m nearly 100% certain that if you mix in a bit of Baja Blast to a key lime pie recipe, it would come out nearly the same as this, perhaps not as neon teal though.”
Yami: “We’re finally trying it today! But, unlike the other 3, this one is much more a trial by fire!”
Nemesis: “That’s right! Not only are we comparing it to OG Nacho Cheddar, we’re also comparing it to the other “healthy variant” Nacho White Cheddar Simply Doritos!!!”
Mikan: “This is gonna be a bloodbath for those poor “healthier version” chips…”
Yami: “Starting off with the NKD. Just like their NKD compadres, much less oily and lighter seasoned than OG. However, unlike the other NKD chips, the flavor profile is close to a NC Dorito! The only thing really missing is that bit of after zest that lingers on your tongue after you eat it. The chip texture is a bit dryer, and as they supposedly have less seasoning on them, you get more of the tortilla taste than the OG ones. Now, for the Simply Doritos… Of course, the elephant in the room is they’re white cheddar, so get that out of the way first. The impressive part is aside from the subtle difference between cheddar and white cheddar flavor, these seem to not only taste similar to NC Doritos, but have more seasoning and better chip texture than the NKD ones!” She grins slyly. “We did more checks too…” She pulls out a notepad. "Doritos NKD removes monosodium glutamate, corn flour, all artificial flavors, dextrose, lactose, yellow 6, yellow 5, red 40, skim milk, disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate, while adding yeast extract. Simply goes even further with using whole corn (which I’m assuming means it’s processed at their factory), only containing sunflower oil instead of a vegetable oil blend, and peculiarly only using dried red pepper when both OG and NKD use both red and green pepper. The tally is as follows: OG contains 39 ingredients, NDK contains 30, and Simply only contains 22! And for nutritional facts, I’m gonna make a list…
| Column 1 | Column 2 | Column 3 | Column 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip | Doritos | NKD | Simply |
| Calories | 150 | 150 | 150 |
| Total fat | 8g | 7g 10% DV | 7g 9% DV |
| Sat fat | 1g 6% DV | 1g 5% DV | 1g 4%DV |

Yami: “So as proven here, the best overall of the 3 is the Simply Doritos. A close enough flavor to the OG while having significantly less bad for you things in its construction! The biggest catcher is cost. Both NKD and Simply are $4 per bag at the Walmart at 4444 W Vine Street, while OG Doritos are only $3 at the same store. It’s a moral versus cost choice at this point. Do you spend $1 more for chips that are slightly healthier for you, or do you save that $1 and put it towards a bag of frozen vegetables, which are significantly healthier to begin with? And to anyone who is trying to remove artificial flavors and dyes from their diet, don’t get the NKD ones, get the Simply ones instead.”
This is what you get for being old. I remember when Doritos were Corn Flavored ( Plain ) and Taco Flavored. I remember when Nacho Cheese was introduced as a flavor. And I remember when the chips had points, not rounded like now. They all tasted better than the current stuff.
I still like to dip Nacho Cheese Doritos in Pimento Cheese spread. ![]()

Mikan: “The taco flavor is still around at Dollar General stores, but haven’t seen unseasoned Doritos in years now.”
Can confirm the flavor has changed since the 90’s. The cheese used to be much more potent than it is these days, though the new versions still aren’t as weakly seasoned as the NKD chips are. A bit of an interesting note, the shell of a Doritos Locos taco is reminiscent of a 90’s Dorito.
Yami: “Assuming they made the seasoning more potent so it’s noticable over the super greasy beef from taco bell.”
Nemesis: “Don’t you mean horse? Or dog food?”
Yami: “Ha ha Neme…”
I usually dip them in Bean dip
Just put the display for them up yesterday, and was genuinely curious how they tasted…
Yami: “These are the single worst thing we’ve gotten from Wawa… Yes… Worse than the Zombie Skittles from a few years ago…”
Nemesis: “Could probably use them as a very good prank on someone…”
