By the way folks, what is this Karma? What is it used for? Just so people know how much of a good person you are?

I just gave you you first thumbs up. Basically, anyone can give you a thumbs up or down. It doesn’t mean much, but some of us tend to ignore people (or try to) once their karma gets too low.
As for the community section, it seems to be based on activity. Joining and starting groups, making friends, posting on walls and joining discussions seem to help build it up.

If a particular post greatly impresses you (or greatly ticks you off), you can give that user a thumbs up or down. This increases/decreases his/her karma by one point. You can only give one point every 6 hours (I think).
It’s possible that the correct answer is in the Rules in the grey tab at the top, I think Hentai may be the all-knowing one here.
But, that’s all it is, your peers tell in you (anonymously) what they think of your posts.

Okay, I get it. So there’s no real purpose other than to let people know that you have a worthwhile personality to chat with.
