So what’s the deal with the “director’s cut” of the final episode that we won’t be getting?

The director’s cut actually is the superior version of Ep. 12, it’s available to view if you look for it.
It actually shows the fight between Hajime and Katse and how she traps him inside of her. It shows that all the alien Gatchaman are still on Earth and alive.
With the episode being so game changing I’m surprised that fans didn’t press Sentai harder for an explanation as to why this happened. I got the impression that the backlash over the songs in Girls und Panzer was massive and I don’t want to see another such backlash against Sentai.
Guess I’m one of the few that didn’t have a prob with ep. 12. That epilogue helped to reinforce that the battle wasn’t over, after the main storyline finished, and more happened afterward.
Some people want everything spelled out… :S
That’s what season 2 is for.
Well, the dub has some names that haven’t come up all that often playing the main roles as well as Sentai’s “Secret Weapon”-Jessica Calvello-so I’ll have to check it out.
Finished this up over the past week.
I waited and watched the dub of this.
The dub in itself was actually pretty good, though Hajime being Hajime, was just annoying as hell.
That last episode was just “ehh”, kinda makes me want to see the DC, just so I can have some semblance of what went on.
I’ll probably just wait until the dub comes out for S2 rather than simulcast it when it comes out, much like I did with S1, just to keep VA continuity in my head.

- For those who haven’t seen both, Maya Uchida plays both Hajime in Gatchaman Crowds, and Minori in Outbreak Company and scene in Ep. 10 has her saying “Gatcha, Gatcha Gatcha” as an inside joke to her role as Hajime *
As long as she isn’t as annoying as her Hajime role, I’d be ok with that.

This sucks, but it’s not surprising. More than likely the Japanese home video distributor has exclusive rights to the episode for now. Hopefully they can get it in the future.
At least they didn’t “accidentally” list it as part of the sets, release them without it, and then attempt to ignore the issue until people started complaining publicly. Ahem…
So I saw Episode One and I’m not sure how to take this.
Hajime is the poster child for “This is Your Brain On Drugs”, which is impressive as everything in this episode was the product of a pipe dream 
Madoka + Men in Black with a dash of Tiger 'n Bunny CG powersuits?
And here I thought that it was already out…
