Q: Thanks for getting the rights to Girls und Panzer, I love it! But during the overseas stream, the licensor cut out an image song in episode 8. Will you be including that? I’m not sure I want the show if there are cuts…

A: That’s a good question, and right now, I don’t have an answer for it. That is a music rights/clearance issue, hopefully it will be cleared for our release.

And yet another indication GuP is probably getting a Dub+BD release.

It’s probably just a prop of some sort, but still…

THEY BROUGHT A TANK TO AX 2013!

The secret is out, and our ‎#girlsundpanzer TANK has arrived at ‎#animeexpo! PANZER VOR! [/quote]

The tank in Girls und Panzer is supposed to be a Panzer IV… but this tank looks more like a panzer II or a Panzer III ausf. A. Although, the Pz. III A only had 2 return rollers, and this has three, so it’s looking more like a Panzer II. But that drive sprocket looks a little different, like a panzer III A. And the turret and gun are more like the Panzer III turret and gun. The Panzer II and the Panzer III A had 5 road wheels. I don’t know if any later versions of the III A had 5, since most versions of the the Panzer III have 6 road wheels. The Panzer II has 3 return rollers, and the III A only has 2… and… you know what? I don’t care, it’s a tank and that’s pretty awesome either way.

Maybe it is a III A, maybe it’s a II, maybe it’s both. :stuck_out_tongue: WHO KNOWS!? TANK!

It’s not unheard of for tanks to be cosmetically modified to look like other tanks. Take for example the Tiger tanks in the Movies Saving Private Ryan, and Kelly’s Heroes. In both movies, the Tigers were built on the chassis of the Soviet T-34… so maybe it’s some sort of Panzer II/III/IV hybrid thing… I’m confusing myself, it’s time for bed.

Of course now all they need is a group of girls cosplaying as Team Anglerfish and it’d be Almost perfect.

At Otakon 2012 they had a poster. That was the only prop that they brought. Yay.

Something doesn’t seem right here:
Otakon 2011: Sentai has a tiny booth
Otakon 2012: Sentai has a 4x larger booth and a panel
Anime Expo 2013: Sentai has a tank carted in, provides booze at a panel and almost seems like ADV during the “glory years”.

I expect more from them at Otakon 2013 if they now have the $ to bring a tank to AX. If not, “imma be pissed”.

Looks like these are the guys that Sentai rented the tank from.

Girls und Panzer Official ENG Homepage

It looks like Sentai made an official ENG homepage for GuP.

Sentai seems to be going above and beyond for this title…for this title. I approve of the tank. Tanks are cool. This show, however, was akin to excrement so I have mixed feelings on this whole “initiative”.

After Sentai paid some group to have a tank carted to LA from Colorado (a transit project that the transporters quipped was over-budget lol), a group that brags about how it “is not cheap” on their web site, I can only hope that they can keep this up as now I expect this “A-level” performance from them.

On the plus side, perhaps for the first time in 6 years someone, Sentai, will be able to rival Funimation’s booth @ Otakon. They themselves have been slacking. Get some competition going here.

Im guessing this show must have pulled some pretty impressive streaming numbers. It’s been one of the most talked about series in recent memory, and it sold extraordinarily well in Japan. I’m pretty confident it will pay off for them.

It’s interesting to see them do an English trailer for the show, as well as launch an English website. That was commonplace for ADV, but Sentai has only done it for certain movies like Garden of Words, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and This Boy Can Fight Aliens.

Also, Sentai hasn’t been around for 6 years. Their 5th anniversary was this year. If you’re talking about ADV prior to that, well, we all know they weren’t in the best of shape in 2007-2008.
