Episodes 11 and 12 will be returning to Crunchyroll on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 6:00pm PDT!
Free users will be able to catch Episode 12 one week later, at the same time slot.
Who will win the National Championships? Will our favorite girls be able to pull off a victory? Don’t miss the finale that we’ve waited a whole season for!
Anyone remember how long AN’s delay was on this show?
It’s generally 30+ days.
These might be a special case, but we’ll have to wait and see what AN says.

My prediction is that Miho will be confronted with the same choice she had to make in the previous tournament, on whether to rescue her friends (or maybe even her sister) and it will cause them to lose the tournament, but win the war for the school.
The whole theme of the series has never been about winning, but being with your friends and having fun with what you do and what’s really important. So that’s why I think it’ll go down like this.
So in a little more than a week, the final two episodes of Girls und Panzer will be released on Crunchyroll, and it will finally be done. Which got me thinking a lot about the eventual DVD release of this show. There’s a few issues I have with the way the show is now…
First: And to me, the most important thing of all, is whether or not Episode 8 will feature the song “Katyusha”. It was removed from the simulcast version of the episode for both Crunchyroll, and The Anime Network. From what I’ve read, it has something to do with copyrights for the song, but I’m not actually 100% on the reasoning. So I’m hoping that whatever the issue is, it’s resolved.
Second: The subs. I’ve only watched in two places; Crunchyroll, and The Anime Network. Neither site actually holds up to my admittedly absurdly high standards for the show. Here’s a couple gripes I have…
-The term used for what they’re doing, Senshado. Crunchyroll translates that to “Tankery” and The Anime Network translates it to “Sensha-do”. In this case, Tankery is stupid. Who thought that was a good idea? Sensha-do is close enough, but still I personally think it should just be “Senshado” trying to translate it to English is kind of dumb. Think about this: It’s pretty obvious, the way Senshado is treated, and given the name they’ve chosen for it, it’s supposed to be taken as a form of modern martial arts. Judo, Kendo, Akido, etc. So if you were even going to try to translate Senshado into english, it would have to be “Way of the Tank” to be even remotely accurate. So seriously, just leave it as Senshado.
-The StuG III. I’ve made mention of this in the past, and I think it’s really important. I don’t speak Japanese so I have no idea what they’re saying, The first time the StuG III is mentioned, I know the number three is mentioned, and the word Assault is there, and I’m pretty sure I heard what sounded like the letter F. Oh wait, I’m sorry, you may not know what the StuG III is because whenever they mention it they call it the III Assault. which is dumb. When it’s introduced, it’s called "a Panzer III Ausf. F with an assault gun. which is also bogus, but merits some accuracy. The StuG III is called such because it’s built on the Panzer III chasis. StuG is short for Sturmgeschütz, which means Assault Gun. The StuG III doesn’t have an assault gun, it IS an assault gun. Now, this is an Ausf. F, but it’s not a Panzer III Ausf. F, it’s a StuG III Ausf. F. So instead of “Panzer III with an Assault Gun”, use “Sturmgeschütz III”. Instead of using “III Assault” just say use “StuG” or “StuG III” It may not be exactly what they’re saying, but it’s what they mean.
By the way… While I’m here, StuG is a contraction of the word Sturmgeschütz, and is pronounced “Stoog”, or “stewg” (with a hard G). Or more precisely “shtoog/shtewg” only because for the most part, for German words that start with an S followed by a consonent, the S is pronounced with an “sh” sound.
If these two issues are taken care of, I would definitely buy the DVD when it comes out… you know what? I’ll buy two.
Finally:
Third: Usually I’m pretty good at predicting whether a show will get a dub or not, but I have no idea about this one. It seems really popular, but it may only seem like that because of the people that I talk to about it. They’re all also huge tank fanatics. So I can’t really say for sure what kind of interest this show has and if it’s popular enough to get a dub… If it does get a dub, they’ll have to make sure they get every little fact right, or Hornet will be disappointed.
Maybe they can hire you as a technical adviser.

What’s that? Inphy confirms Girls und Panzer for an English dub? You heard it here first! 
The only reason I can see for it not getting a dub, is that it’s pretty much a huge almost all-girl cast, which I think would be fairly difficult for Seraphim to cover with their usual casting.
Other than that, I see no reason why we won’t see a dub for this.
JP sales are on par with P4 (25k-30k per vol.) and they’re even considering reissuing the JP LE BDs.
It’s a huge hit in JP, as well as being well liked over here.
That doesn’t always translate into US sales numbers, but it is a good indication.
Yeah the show has like 40+ female characters with speaking roles…
Oarai alone probably accounts for over 3/4 of them. Of course, all three members of the Mallard team are the same voice… so 3 of your 1,700 voices are the same.
EDIT: Something I was just thinking about… If this show gets a dub, I hope whoever is doing it realized that ALL of the characters are Japanese. St. Gloriana, Saunders, Pravda, [size=1]Anzio[/size], Kuromorimine. They’re all Japanese schools emulating the countries they represent. Therefore… No fake accents please.
But they have to allow Blizzard Nonna to give the proper pronunciation to the Russian words.
Not to mention the song that was left out of the simulcast versions.

Both Nonna and Katyusha say Russian words randomly, but they’re not really words that are difficult to pronounce. Sumire Uesaka (Nonna) is a Russian Studies major, so that helped her. Of course, she probably got the part because of that 
The song Katyusha was removed from the simulcast of the show for some reason, so hopefully it will make its return in the physical release. I think it’s a copyright thing though. I read somewhere that the Japanese copyright is different than the US one. But since I read it on the internet, that could be completely wrong.
Any songs in the show should probably stay as they are. There aren’t many instances where the characters are singing, and by not many, I mean three come to mind:
Nonna and Katyusha sing Katyusha (Russian)
Miho, and then The entire Oarai team sings the Anglerfish March (Japanese)
Nonna sings to Katyusha (Russian)
There could be more, but I’m drawing a blank right now. I also haven’t seen the last 2 episodes.
While I’m here… I’ve seen a couple of the team names translated differently:
Ankō Team:
I’ve seen Ankō translated as Goosefish, Monkfish, and Anglerfish. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/アンコウ Consensus of fans, and most sites seem to say Anglerfish, so for a dub, I would say go with Anglerfish.
Leopon Team:
This isn’t as much of a big deal anymore, for a while people said this team was the Lion team, but the team name is Leopon. The issue is the pronunciation.
The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopon is a hybrid offspring of a male leopard and a female lion.
Originally, everyone though it was Lion Team, but for one thing, lions don’t have spots so the animal on the tank isn’t a lion. Next is the Japanese spelling: レ - re オ - o ポ - po ン - n, reopon. (also, if you google レオポン, you get Leopon :P) So if you assumed that the “re” would be “le”, then you get Leopon.
The problem is, how the heck do you pronounce that? The word Leopon is a portmanteau of Leopard and Lion. Which means the resulting word would be pronounced with a silent “o” so something like: “le-pon”. But in Japanese, it would likely be pronounced exactly as it’s spelled, and you would pronounce the “O”, which would make it le-o-pon. :blink: Whatever, it’s not THAT important

I’d say in my completely unbiased opinion*, that the last two episodes were most definitely worth the wait.
*- I totally love this show, so don’t take my opinions seriously if you’re one of those lame boring critical types who hates the world and constantly puts everyone and everything down because you have to find something wrong with everything. Quit being such a downer.
Don’t suppose anyone from TAN, Sentai, or Section23 can comment as to why the song, Katyusha, was cut from episode 8 (or 9 on TAN). It was a pretty entertaining scene. Licensing issues outside Japan?
FUNimation apparently couldn’t get Lili Marleen for episode 8 (hm…) of Strike Witches and had it replaced. Disappointing, but at least it wasn’t cut. And the initial stream for the episode actually had it included (it’s not there anymore I believe).
Episodes 11 & 12 are coming to TAN starting later this month.
