Ya, sadly. If I can’t give my opinion, I won’t do it again.
Slick
I know you’re letting the discussion die down, but I don’t hit forums much these days so I didn’t get a chance to quickly say my two cents. I have personally known a few people who were so sex crazed that they could be compared to Lum’s Darling (Sorry, can’t remember his name right now) from Urusei Yatsura for chasing after people, and not all of them were teens. Also note, in Urusei Yatsura they do have a few ‘average’ girls that he doesn’t go after, but a private academy might not let them attend to maintain some sort of image.
That’s all I have to say about that.
I would like it if TAN would eventually add it to the On Demand listings as my computers just don’t like anything subbed on the site. The one doesn’t even seem willing to run videos on the site anyhow, and the other always seems to eventually start skipping around on the video while trying to watch anything subbed (and frequently the dubbed ones as well, but I listen to a show more than I watch it so they rarely bother me with video skipping). It’s probably because my vid-card is just a GeForce 8200M, and they don’t have a GPU designed to handle the massive amount of graphics that comes with HD grade images, and even many newer non-HD grade images.
Maria Holic is coming to VOD in the near future. It’s just premiering on the Online Player first.
I can’t wait, because my laptop just can’t handle it. An NVidia GeForce 8200M vid card with 1407 MB of vid RAM, 3 GB of core RAM, an AMD Turion X2 processor at 2.00 GHz, and I can barely scroll the page up or down after about 2 minutes of trying to watch much of anything that is subbed on the site. Really annoying with a series like Maria-Holic that sounds like it’s my type of comedy. Oh, well, maybe I’ll get lucky and get enough of a return on my taxes to buy a PS3 and then I can null the problem.
Episode 2
Just finished this week’s episode 2 and continue to adore it. I can’t remember the last time I watched something this clever - the contrast between the fast paced comedy and the darker stuff continues to hit all the right notes. I haven’t smiled all the way through a series as I am in this case in quite a while.
The trio’s interaction continue to be at the core of the dramedy. Also I love how Maria is so easily manipulating everyone to get his way. As I said on episode 1, truly shades of Les Liaisons dangereuses and Cruel Intentions.
Can’t wait for more!
I watched episode 1 and 2 tonight. I must agree with Dragoon this is a unique kind of show, and I love the way it handles the darker aspects and the funnier scenes. This is quite the series. It’s a surprise gem, a must buy for me. It won me over faily quickly, even though there’s no dub. Which is quite a feet . It’s actually laugh out loud funny, which is always good in a comedy lol! And the story and characters are still going strong!
Episode 1 and 2 spoilers
Again I must parret Dragoon, the highlight of the series is the interaction between the three leads. I like how dark this series can get, and yet still be funny and not feel unnatural. And Maria is such a sadistic cruel human being, but yaha gata like the guy. He’s charismatic I guess? lol! I too enjoyed how even though both Kanako and Maria have dirt on each other, only Maria manages to have the upper hand. Quite interesting to watch as he manipulates everyone else around him.

Oh and the Dorm Leader with the cat ears (completely random)…too cute!
This will be in my collection as soon as I get money!
Those that missed the sale are in luck.
In the weekly’s.

Finished the set, and all I have to say is: Gold, pure anime gold. The last 2 episodes alone makes this show shelf worthy and the last scene, and I mean the very last scene after the ending credits of the last episode, only seals the deal. It left me with a WTF smile on my face that makes me laugh now even as I type this.
Gold…pure gold.
P.S. If Sentai does go back to dub some of these early releases, ala ADV did with Devil Hunter Yohko, then this definately is one of my personal guilty pleasure top choices. Yes, even beating out Clannad.
Oh no, I better hide. Please don’t beat me.
My laptop has finally decided to stop being a pain about watching subbed shows today (I have no clue what the problem was, but when you run a Windows OS you always have a problem, you might not know what it is but it’s there). I’ve seen the first 4 eps, and so far I like the opening and closing animations more than the show itself, but that’s because of how well they mesh with the series, lyrics included. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the series, but I don’t have the money to go worry about buying any at present as I just don’t have the income and there are a lot of other series I’m interested in (The Slayers for instance is a major must by, along with Those who Hunt Elves and Wild Arms Twilight Venom). But I could easily go through several thousand dollars getting animes, mangas, and games I’d like to own.
Chris Beveridge over Mania.com recently reviewed this title. He actually gave it some good marks.

In Summary:
Mariaholic is a series that could have gone down very familiar paths but because of how Kanako is portrayed it becomes something more. It’s a fun show where she’s both trying to restrain her nosebleeds as she drools with desire over various girls as well as enjoying the fact that she has such strong reactions to them. She’s lustful with many of them and trying to figure out who would be her perfect match so she can have something of what her parents had. Though she doesn’t want to come out of the closet, there’s no real shame here or an attempt at portraying it as wrong or finding ways to change. Add this in to the really detailed and extravagant looking designs we get from SHAFT and numerous little quirks and nods in the animation and this was far more fun than I expected it to be. It ends at a good spot, gives you plenty to laugh at and lots of fanservice of different kinds for the viewer. It’s not a great title but it’s not a bad title. Mariaholic is a show that I’m feeling will be a real guilty pleasure of an almost trashy show.

This started on free VOD this week. Very funny episode 1, interesting, I think it will stay one of the first shows I watch each week if I don’t just buy it outright before it’s done running.
Did I say this reminds me some of … jeeze what a time to blank on a name. goes out to look at the DVD on the shelf … Pani Poni Dash, wow I have a mind like a steel screen door.
Anyways, episode 2 again funny. Theme is pretty good, too. Kind of funny too how the girl who doesn’t like boys acts more like a boy drooling over all these girls, while the actual boy has become oblivious to all the girls around him… although I suppose he kind of has to if he wants to keep his cover. I wonder when we get to phys ed what happens…
Yeah, same animation studio and director, Shinbo… brilliant dude.
Okay I watched the first episode. I really didn’t find it funny. It was just…weird. I smell SHAFT.
haha it is SHAFT. I could tell
This one is definitely going to be too much for me to enjoy comfortably subbed.
There’s just way too much going on at once for me to truely follow properly, with all the rapid muli-layered subs along with sign subs, plus the fast paced visuals, I may be able to get the gist of it, but there’s no way I’ll actually be able to follow this on any proper level.
Seems humorous though.
this is interesting but i am confused on somethings  but other then that thos is a very good anime
I’m having the same problem with the multi-layering and I also find that they sometimes speak way too quickly for me to keep up. I end up rewinding and pausing a lot just to get what’s going on. Still it’s a funny show, so I don’t mind watching it this way too much, but it does takes an awfully long time to watch one episode!
thank goodness I’m a fast reader, I guess -
Yeah, same here. I don’t have any problems with Maria, but I do occasionally have problems with some scenes in Aria. Some of the very vocal next episode previews, or scenes when the music is also be subbed can be hard for me to keep up. It’s not as bad on DVDs though, as the subtitles are usually two different colors for different speakers or music (with the exception of Funi’s all-white, all-the-time subs).
Since I have the DVDs for this, I will probably just switch over to watching it there. However, that does start to leave me low on TAN series to download each week…

Where have I heard that seiyuu?
