Second Age - Episode 10 –

Just before they reach the Capital, Rene tells the group the truth about Erbos. Throughout history, Erbos’s powers have come from Purifiers like Angelique and Erbos grew from their despair. Angelique can feel their pain. Erbos is drawn to her but is panicking at the same time because Angelique can destroy it.

Mathias is alone in his city now, except for the observing Roche, and feeling very lonely. He regrets what he did and it looks like he’s dying as well thanks to that chip. Now that Roche knows Mathias has regrets, he needs to tell Angelique, but Nyx stops him. Nyx wants Mathias and Angelique to kill each other.

The group enters the city and goes to the Silver Tree, where Mathias finds them. Roche is still fighting with Nyx, but at one point, the picture of Angelique falls out of his pocket and Nyx says he’ll take that instead of Roche’s life. Nyx tells Roche where Angelique is before he disappears.

Rene apologizes to Mathias, but the chip activates and Mathias attacks Rene and then Angelique. J.D. saves her, but Mathias attacks again and Bernard gets hurt protecting her. Mathias tries to attack Rene again, but Roche saves him this time. Rene then protects Mathias from the others and tells them that Mathias’s sins are his as well. Rene tells Mathias that he needs him, but Mathias says that it’s too late.

Angelique tells Mathias that he must stay by Rene’s side. Mathias promises Rene to devote what is left of his life to Arcadia and Rene pledges to support Angelique. Angelique is just happy that they are all together and safe. But Nyx appears and says that Mathias has betrayed him. He causes the Thanatos to appear and Nyx tells Angelique that it’s their last waltz.

Second Age - Episode 11 –

Erbos has completely taken over Nyx and he says that Mathias must pay for his betrayal. Erbos intends to destroy the city and the Thanatos appear and begin to do just that. Mathias tries to attack Erbos but the chip breaks and falls from his neck. The Orb Hunters attack Erbos, but if they kill him, Nyx will die as well. Erbos takes advantage of this and attacks Rene, but Mathias steps in front of him and gets hit instead.

Angelique becomes angry and her purifying light almost overcomes Erbos, but he disappears and only the Thanatos are purified. Just before Mathias dies, he returns the Silver Leaf to Rene and the Silver Tree revives. I’m glad Mathias didn’t stay evil and got to reconcile with Rene at the end. The Silver Leaf is really a key that must be taken to Pharian and the Stellar Vessel.

Rene will stay behind to protect Arcadia and the Silver Tree. He gives the leaf key to Angelique and she promises to defeat Erbos and become Queen. Rene knows that once she becomes Queen, she will have to leave and it pains him that he won’t be able to see her anymore because he has come to care for her so much. Rene hugs Angelique and encourages her to tell her companions what will happen to her. Rayne comes looking for her and is shocked to overhear what her future holds once she becomes Queen.

On the way to Pharian, the group stops at a ruined village for food and water. Angelique meets a surviving family that berates her for not saving their friends and family and for giving them “worthless hope”. They tell her to leave and walk away, but Angelique is only more determined to become Queen and save Arcadia.

They arrive at the Foundation in Pharian, but it appears abandoned. Then Erenfried shows up and says they had been waiting for their arrival. He takes them to an almost repaired Stellar Vessel that will soon be ready to launch. They give Erenfried the sad news about Mathias and he’s devastated to learn that he won’t be able to save him from the chip after all.

Yorgo takes responsibility, saying that he ordered Erenfried to concentrate on repairing the ship first and reminds them all of the importance of the Stellar Vessel. This ship will take them to Erbos for the final battle and Erenfried promises to have it ready quickly for Arcadia’s sake. Yorgo also asks Rayne for his help and J.D. and Hyuga offer their help as well. Repairs move along swiftly and Angelique realizes that she doesn’t have much time left. Roche decides to stay behind and I think Bernard does too.

Jet finally returns to Erenfried and tells him that he’s defective and asks to be dismantled. Erenfried refuses, telling Jet that he has gained a heart and is not defective. He tells Jet that he is his own master now and should act according to his own will. Erenfried also asks him to help with the repairs.

The others are happy to see Jet and Bernard gives Angelique the news that he and Roche won’t be going with her, but will await her return. An upset Angelique runs from him. She thinks of all the times her companions said that they’d always be together and a great sadness overwhelms her. At dinner that night, she finally breaks down and tells them what her future will hold when she becomes Queen.
Second Age - Episode 12 –

Angelique begins saying her goodbyes and asks Bernard to take care of Erwin. Bernard sees how troubled she is and tries to talk her out of going to the Holy Grounds, but Angelique insists that she doesn’t have a choice if Arcadia is to be saved.

Roche doesn’t want her to go either and tells her that she has changed him for the better. He’d like to protect her now and begs her not to go. Rene can feel her heart wavering and doesn’t know how to help her. Rayne, J.D. and Hyuga are all very sad. They don’t want her to go either and want to stay by her side.
*
Jet finds her crying and questions her tears. She tells him and he tells her the same thing that Erenfried told him – that she’s her own master. Jet tells Angelique to follow a path of her own choosing and says that he doesn’t want to see her cry. He even cooks breakfast the next morning. He’s very much like J.D. now.
*
It looks like Angelique has finally come to terms with her decision and the others see it as well and will support her. As Angelique resolves to save Arcadia and make people happy, Erbos visits the Stellar Vessel with a black case and it obvious that it’s a bomb. It was sweet of Roche to think of kidnapping Angelique too, but I’m glad he thought better of it. Erwin goes missing, but I have a feeling that he’ll turn up on the ship after they take off. I still think he’s some kind of guardian to Angelique.

The ship is ready, the controls are on automatic and they won’t be able to change course. It looks like Erenfried may have some feelings for Angelique as well. Jet will be staying behind too and says goodbye to J.D. This pleases J.D. immensely because up until now, Jet has always called him “the original” and this is the first time he actually uses his name. J.D. now looks forward to returning and speaking with him. Angelique thanks Jet for helping her find the answer and I think he’d really like to go with them.

Many people have come to see them off and even Dion is there to let Hyuga know that Rene is well. He tells Hyuga that people are beginning to return to the Capital and that it’s slowly being rebuilt. The ship accepts the Silver Leaf key and activates, preparing to launch.
*
The Orb Hunters settle on the bridge and the countdown begins, but Erenfried sees a problem. An object has been detected on the ship that is probably a bomb! But the ship is launching and nothing can be done. Jet jumps into action and manages to get aboard the ship. He locates and removes the device, but is unable to diffuse it. He tries to throw it over the side, but stops when he sees all the well wishers below. He really does have a heat now and values human life.

Jet hugs the bomb to his chest and jumps off the other side of the ship, hoping to minimize the explosion with his body. He’s content because he finally found his purpose – to protect Angelique. The bomb explodes, taking jet with it, just as the ship launches. It was so sad to see this. Just when Jet finds his heart, he loses his life. Erenfried spots him at the last minute and cries for his loss.

The spectators cheer at the successful launch, while Bernard and Roche watch from afar and wish Angelique well. Rene prays for her. The ship will take them directly to Erbos and the final fight. J.D. says Jet’s name. In his own heart, he must have felt that something happened to Jet. Angelique still hopes to destroy Erbos but save Nyx. I hope she can!
Second Age - Episode 13 –

The Stellar Vessel has taken the Orb Hunters to a devastated Arcadia, but the Sunlit Mansion is in perfect condition. The group enters the mansion to find everything as it was. A chandelier falls and almost hits Angelique, but J.D. saves her. However, it also causes a strange fire to start and Angelique is cut off from the guys. The fire seems to chase her as she runs upstairs. She enters a room to find Nyx and he welcomes her to the Sunlit Mansion.

Meanwhile, the guys are faced with distorted illusions of the first time they each met Angelique and she tells them that she doesn’t want to be Queen. But they know this isn’t really Angelique; she would never say these things. The illusions change and they are confronted with more Angelique images. Nyx tells Angelique to stay with him and things could be as they were.
*
For a minute they all remember how happy they were together at the mansion and Angelique really would like to go back, but she also remembers Nyx telling her that she has an obligation to use her power. Angelique tells Nyx that they don’t need a fake Sunlit Mansion because the real one is in their hearts. This was an illusion too and the scene now changes.

Nyx becomes Erbos and tells Angelique that she will die. He attacks her with his whip and tells her to dance. She resists and tells Nyx that he’s one of their companions as well; the others arrive and confirm this. Nyx says that she still cares deeply for him and will take his sadness and the sins of Erbos upon herself. She still has his hair ribbon and he seems to soften towards her.

But when Angelique says that she’ll protect Arcadia, Erbos returns and says Arcadia should burn. He attacks and the guys stand in front of Angelique to protect her. However, he only changes more and tells them that Arcadia abandoned him, hurt him, and turned him into what he is, but it’s all of Angelique’s predecessors that had become part of him saying this.

Angelique says that she will purify Erbos and tells Nyx not to give up. They all fight Erbos and the manifestations of Angelique’s predecessors. When Erbos goes to attack Angelique, Nyx’s spirit appears and stops him, telling Erbos that he won’t allow him to have control anymore. He holds Erbos as Angelique runs her sword through him. She sends out her Light of Purification and the spirits of her predecessors and Erbos are purified and disappear.

Nyx tells Angelique that he’s been waiting for this moment and thanks Angelique, telling her goodbye. She begs Nyx to live, but he says he’s already lived for 200 years and doesn’t want to suffer anymore. Angelique says that she wants him to be happy and her sword evaporates into particles of light. She tells him that she’d like to meet him again someday and he disappears as well.

The sky turns blue as she turns to face her companions. Erwin appears and becomes a ball of light, telling Angelique that he is “the collective consciousness of all things that exist in the universe”. He says that it’s time for her to go with him to the Holy Grounds and become Queen. She accepts and vows to protect Arcadia. Angelique appears to her companions one last time. She has the wings of an angel and looks very serene. She smiles at her friends and produces an aurora. Realizing what this means, Rayne runs to her, telling her to wait and not to go. She says something inaudible and flies away, leaving Rayne crying and screaming her name. As Angelique disappears, her light brings life back to this devastated world and the people in the real Arcadia are bathed in her light as well.

In the aftermath, the Stellar Vessel has returned to Arcadia. Rayne has returned to the Foundation and works with Erenfried. Roche is still selling his photos to Bernard, but his time Bernard offers him a job in the office. The Holy Capital has been rebuilt and the spirit of Mathias watches over it and Rene. J.D. goes back on the road to continue his travels, bidding Sally and Hannah farewell. Hyuga visits Rene and Dion and is asked to return to the Knights, but he refuses deciding instead to do a little traveling of his own “to see the Arcadia that she protected”.

Bernard sits in his office and vows to find Angelique again. Roche is determined to find a way to get to Angelique. Erenfried is too and it was great to see that Jet is alive. I’m glad he wasn’t destroyed. He’s also thinking of Angelique. Rayne wants to find to her as well. Rene would like Angelique to visit him. J.D. will continue his journey until he can see her again. Hyuga is on Captain Cedna’s ship with her crew and hopes to follow a path to Angelique. Roche also wants to find a way to get to her. Nyx is sitting in the garden of another mansion, holding a very affectionate Erwin. Mary and her mother visit the Holy Capital to pray for the Queen and Angelique’s picture hangs in the church.

This was a really great show with a great ending. I like that all the characters want to find a way to see Angelique again, but are also going on with their lives. I like also that they brought back a couple of the older characters such as Cedna and Mary. I really loved the story of this one and the conclusion was extremely satisfying. It’s always sad to see a good show end, but there are defiantly no loose ends or unanswered questions for me in this one!
…So, any luck with this show getting dubbed?
Just sort of asking. I kind of want an anime filled with mostly guys and this seems to fit that pretty well.
