Yes I am. Actually believe it or not I understand on a level ,but making it sound like you’ve been kicked in the balls or your dog was shot is a little much. Maybe idiot was a little strong ,but sounding uneducated and clueless as to why in my mind is kind of idiotic. Sorry if I offended ,but it’s getting harder and harder to keep a cool head with the current fan’s mentality. If it helps I call the sub elitist idiots when that BS happens to. B)

Anime fans think what they see on the forums = most requested. Which is kind of true ,but that doesn’t = sales though or in this case profit enough to support the cost of a dub. Funimation is kind of proving this with cutting back on license and talking about doing sub only in the recent ANNcast. People breezed over the sub only thing I think out of hope it was not true if they did not act like they heard it. I said it before it seemed like Funimation was using profit from the more popular to pay for these fan favorite titles to be dubbed. Hoping that in the end it would translate into a major profit from all these people asking. It sounds and looks like it did not happen. Course the one thing that could say if I am right is Funimation and they won’t talk as it would make them look weak in the eyes of these people.

F.A.N.S.
Freakin A…holes N Sh.theads

That’s what we shall name them from now on.

LOL. That is fab tonka, fab indeed.

I have to agree on everything with you there. This is basically the model of how most entertainment companies you work. You need to have lower quality but high profit titles like DBZ or Transformers, to pay for quality titles like Spice and Wolf or Benjamin Button, which may do well but never have the same profit level.

The problem with anime market is that even the big titles now are having difficulty moving units. Even the Dragon Box sets are pretty much sitting at B&M stores and collecting dust.

The fact that NIS is focusing exclusively on online sales and plans on doing limited runs makes it seem to me that these titles are much more likely to be sub-only. Skipping over, or failing to work their way into Best Buy and FYE ultimately strips them of nearly 2000 outlets to sell their wares. You’re talking about loosing a lot of potential sales, and that’s going to make it much harder to market and produce a dub.

I think the falling off of anime sales at Best Buy, and the massive returns in recent years have had a LOT to do with so many series going sub-only. I’m also willing to bet it’s part of the reason why even Funimation is discussing doing some sub-only releases after years of saying “NEVAR!”

So, is anybody else secretly hoping this is sub-only just so we can read some of the whining by certain posters on ANN? :stuck_out_tongue:

At this point I don’t care anymore, just means I get to save more money.

Well, that’s another positive to it. But you can’t forget the entertainment prospect! LOL

Why would you wish for it to get sub-only? That pissed me off more then if they did say it was sub-only. Do you even buy animes? what do you like better about reading at the bottom of the screen other then being able to hear what they are saying?

  1. So we can get it quicker, say in 2-3 month, than having to wait 9-18 months for a dub, assuming the just got the license.
  2. Yes
  3. In sub only releases, we do hear what they’re saying. It’s just in japanese.

You do understand that hoping this is sub-only would be like me hoping the video quality was like a bootleg. Just so I could read the crazy posts of people being anoying and whining about it. It wouldn’t matter to me because I don’t see the difference, but you seem to care. It’s kind of what’s bugging chrisc I think. Try and be a little senstive. I know your joking around, but he doesn’t think so. And personally I am fed up with reading that kind of stuff, I really don’t get why you want to read any more of it. It’s anoying. It kind of bothers me to read “well I illegally downloaded it, but I aint buying a DVD without a dub”. That attitude is anoying. I understand wanting dubs, and if you don’t watch anime illegally you have every right to be a little ticked off (but not complain like you got kicked in the nuts like PP says). But if you watched it illegally and don’t buy the DVD, you are not much better then the leaches who don’t buy anything. And these people bother me like nothing else.

chrisc: Cody used to be really big on dubs. I think he gets where yah coming from. He’s just anoyed at fandumb atm  . I don’t think he really wants this to be sub-only. But he is anoyed at that group of people. And I totally get where he’s coming from.

I’ve been waiting months for them to go public on this.[/quote]

So who knows how long NIS had the license to the animes.
Sure you can hear what they are saying but can you understand it? if yes, understand in North America most people can’t.

Why is Toradora still on YouTube? YouTube makes it so easy for Copyright holders to remove there content. I only checked it out becouse so many people was saying how good it was. Yeah I really liked it not enough to want to see it again with subs but if I didn’t check it out before, for some reason “Dora the explorer” was in my head everytime I heard Toradora.

Why is some thing still on Youtube? It may be easy to have something removed ,but it does not stop anyone from re-uploading it. I remember ADV and Funimation having over a 100 videos removed and in a days time they were right back up.

I mainly understand what they are saying because I can read it at the bottom with the provided English subtitles. Only people that have a right to bitch is the Voice Actors and ADR people that have less work.

Maybe we should all just blame the school system for not making it mandatory we learn other languages. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though almost all people have a vocal tone that expresses emotion its not that hard to figure out. Like everything in life its not a matter of anything ,but learning how to do something. I could not hear the emotion in Japanese vocal tones at first ,but after a while I could hear it.

Though my reasoning and thought processes are a bit faster then the average Homo-sapien. So maybe its just me that is able to enjoy the these vocal tones and emotions that I hear out of every person I have heard the voice of.

Maybe I am just being a jackass. Who really can say?

Cody is joking, since a lot of us who follow the industry and the industry sites are tired of the spoiled brats complaining. It’s one thing to say you want dubs, that’s fine, but the statements that come out of a large percentage of these people demanding dubs are just from piraters who don’t support the industry anyway - then also their demands hoping for companies to go under. Without diversity, no one will pick up these titles. I don’t see Funimation licensing everything, or the sequels to a lot of their series - do you?

We’re sick of hearing it over and over for a year now. It’s kind of like going to a McDonalds and getting pissed they are not serving a $100 steak for $4. It’s absurd and laughable - but to see that kind of thing for a year nonstop, we’re all over it.

Yes the situation sucks, but that’s what happens with niche when for years a lot of people didn’t buy and a lot of people still find it acceptable for people to pirate/fansub. See PP’s comments prior about funimation blog. Tons of the dub-complaining people there continue to whine and complain and show their support for illegal activity. That is hurting the industry. So yes, we’re tired of a lot of these people who are not becoming part of the solution to help the industry get healthy again. Again, otherwise, these niche titles will continue to go sub-only and not be licensed and even not made.

Anyway, someone at the ANN forums emailed NIS and these titles supposedly will be sub-only. We’ll have to wait and see this confirmed with a press outlet or official announcement to see if it’s true or not.

Its like I said on other forums, I don’t know what the animes Pandora Hearts, Persona -trinity soul-, and Our Home’s Fox Deity is about I am not going to even look if they go Sub-only.
Same goes for Gintama, Hidamari Sketch x 365, Living for the Day After Tomorrow, The Skull Man, Maria Holic, Yozakura Quartet, Tayutama: Kiss On My Deity, Hidamari Sketch, Glass Mask, Neo Angelique Abyss, Blue Drop, Polyphonica, Special A, Tears to Tiara. I really never even looked them up yet.

Your loss.
