Nice way to get a job! But it’s going to be a hard one for this poor guy. Shinichi’s in charge of a cultural exchange with another world, which is pretty exciting, but it’s a bit much for one kid. Plus, he’s a virtual prisoner. But he does get a mansion and a maid. He loves his half elf maid, but I thought he was going to faint when he met his gardener! LOL

Shinichi’s welcome at the castle was incredible, and he was very impressed. He was also very nervous about meeting the Empress, but gets excited when he sees her, and ends up insulting her. Not a good way for an ambassador to behave! However, her punishment didn’t seem to bother him too much. But he may still have to worry about losing his life or at least his new job.

So when will this thread get moved over to the Sentai section of the forum?

Is it just me, or is this kinda like Welcome to the NHK, with aliens?

I’m hoping that Crunchy has finally made this able to be streamed on mobile; did you know that it takes them days after a show debuts on their site to get it ready for Android streaming? I did not.

If they announce all 3 TBS titles in a row, this should be next.

I’m at a loss as to why they’d want the most stereotypical otaku out there. This guy is sort of like a “poser” otaku, an “otaku hipster” who is only enthused with the ultra-popular-within-otaku-circles anime. Anyone from 2chan or 4chan would fit the bill, yet they claim they couldn’t find a perfect otaku candidate

Also disappointed that they didn’t show us all the questions on the quiz. I’m taking it as a good thing that I didn’t recognize most of his figure collection

Chris Patton for the dub? Shoot, Luci Christian might nail the role

EDIT: even adjusting to the wonky Japanese measurement system that ain’t no F. Maybe it’s the ultra-moe art but they’re trying to tell me that pebbles are boulders and I’m not buying it.

Episode 2 –

spoiler

Shinichi manages to jump out the frying pan and into the fire! After being barely saved from the wrath of the Empress, Shinichi then manages to insult her cousin, and is in trouble all over again. If not for the amusement of the Empress, Shinichi would have really lost his head this time. Petralka grants AmuTech permission to conduct business, but I think Shinichi has gained an enemy in Galius.

But now Shinichi has to figure out what exactly his job is, since his boss doesn’t even know. Of course the Japanese language and foreign concepts are going to be a big problem to overcome as well. He continues to teach his maid his language as he chooses materials that he thinks the people of this world will enjoy. I laughed when I saw that one of the mangas he picked was “Attacking Titans”! Shinichi hopes that the newly educated Myucel will help him in his research.

One day, Petralka shows up unexpectedly to view his progress. Unable to understand Japanese, she demands that Shinichi read a manga to her. But I think that Petralka is a little jealous of the relationship between Shinichi and Myucel, and the fact that Myucel can understand Shinichi’s language. Petralka even sits on Shinichi’s lap to get his attention, while she orders the maid off to get them tea!

Shinichi goes out to observe his future customers going about their daily lives. He suffers some culture shock as he learns that servants expect to be beaten, most of the population can’t read, and young children are trained to be soldiers, instead of attending school. He also discovers that the best way for non-human races to gain citizenship is to join the army. Shinichi is saddened by all this, but Minori warns him not to think of it too much, and reminds him that a class system of sorts still exists in their own world.

When he finds out the children have no time to play, and don’t even know how to read, Shinichi wonders how they will enjoy the things he wants to bring to this world. It gives him something to think about. Later, it’s another manga session with Petralka. This time Shinichi is reading “Attacking Titans” to her and I was amused by the scene he was reading where the children’s’ mother is eaten by the Titan, as they are saved by a soldier. Petralka is on his lap again and it’s getting to be uncomfortable.

Myucel bringing in tea is a welcome interruption for Shinichi, but Petralka begins to scold her for disturbing them. Hearing the insults that Petralka is hurling at Myucel, Shinichi is very offended, and when Petralka is about to throw a bun at Myucel, Shinichi grabs her wrist. Realizing that he dared to touch the Empress and that her behavior is normal in this country, he quickly loses his anger, and takes the bun from Petralka’s hand. Petralka then gets angry with Shinichi, but he tries to explain, and ends up trying to teach her about equality instead. She has no idea what Shinichi is talking about and thinks “Equality” is some kind of philosopher. But Petralka is gracious enough to forgive both Shinichi and his maid for “disrespecting the empire” – this time. However, her forgiveness comes with a price. Still jealous that a “lowly servant” understands Shinichi’s language and she doesn’t, Petralka demands to be taught Japanese as well.

It seems that someone is spying on these new people from another world. There is always someone that doesn’t want others interfering in the way of things. I have a feeling that it might be Galius. And there is a touching scene between Shinichi and Myucel when he finds her crying over a manga. It seems that Myucel may have understood when Shinichi was explaining equality to Petralka. Interesting.

I think anime has made me a cynic: I keep expecting Myucel to go go all Tsundere on Shinichi. It hasn’t happened yet, but after so many shows where the main female character is a tsundere I really do expect it, especially considering that the main character is a hard-core otaku (as are its audience).

These characters were able to learn enough Japanese to read manga in only a few hours. I’ve heard that Japanese is among the easiest of languages to learn but that seems a tad unbelievable (especially for someone who had never written or read a thing before in her life).

The lizazrdman is definitely the coolest character.

Episode 3 –

spoiler

A month after his arrival, Shinichi’s school is almost completed. It will be a place for the people here to learn about Japanese culture, regardless of their status, and I wonder how that is going to work in a world where class distinction is so important. Petralka is still trying to beat Myucel in learning Japanese, and trips her up with a tongue twister. LOL And Shinichi proves himself to be a pervert in Petralka’s eyes.

For now, Shinichi teaches his culture classes at his home, and children from noble families attend. But it’s funny to see Petralka still perched on his lap! She later admits to Shinichi that she’s actually having fun for the first time in her life. Shinichi says that he is having fun as well and that somehow offends Petralka and she leaves. Was it because he mentioned his maid in the same sentence?

That evening, Myucel surprises Shinichi with her command of the Japanese language. It’s still a little awkward, but she seems to be doing better than Petralka. Let’s just hope Petralka doesn’t find out that a lowly maid is learning faster than the Empress! Myucel further surprises Shinichi by requesting that when the time comes for him to return to his own world, he takes her with him. Shinichi doesn’t know what to think and feels that it might be a trap, because his world would treat her differently.

In any case, the school opens and there are plenty of students – all noble. Petralka arrives and it seems that she is extremely jealous of Myucel by now. She feels that Shinichi focuses too much attention on her and Petralka is not pleased. She orders Myucel to move out of Shinichi’s mansion. But her tirade is interrupted by hooded figures. Petralka’s bodyguards are killed and the Empress is held with a bloodied sword to her throat. The other children run away, and Minori pulls out her gun.

The men call themselves “Bayduna”, a patriotic organization. Shinichi and the girls are taken hostage and their rings are removed. Thankfully, Myucel can quietly translate what the men are saying. The men have a magical weapon with them, called the Exterminating Flame. I get the feeling they intend to destroy the school with it. Can’t have these alien ideas of equality taking hold with the lower races! It seems that is exactly correct too. How sad. The leader thinks that “forcing humans and non-humans to learn in the same room is intolerable!” He thinks that humans have the God-given right to dominate and rule over the lower races.

Shinichi is harsh in his assessment of what the leader has said and the man can only agree with him. But this is the way of life in this world and Shinichi is a danger to it. His “culture” could destroy their world and this man will protect his country and his way of life from the would-be invaders. Shinichi is about to be killed when the Empress intervenes. Petralka tells them that Shinichi is only a figurehead and killing him would be worthless.

Unfortunately, that turns their attention to Petralka. Perhaps if the country had a different ruler, these silly ideas would end. By now, it’s known that the Empress was taken hostage and Galius and the army are outside the school, waiting for a chance to save her. Shinichi is trying to keep everyone distracted for five more minutes. I wonder what will happen when the clock strikes the hour. With the pretense of having to go to the bathroom, Shinichi gets one of the guards out of the room. Suddenly his phone goes off with the theme to one of his favorite anime shows. It’s the character’s birthday and Shinichi had set his phone’s alarm to celebrate! LOL

But now he tells the men surrounding him that the “incantation” is complete. The leader joins them and doesn’t believe Shinichi’s claim to using magic. Instead he orders him to be killed, but Minori is now free and goes into action. What a great bodyguard! She is ordered to be killed as well, and while the men hesitate, Myucel uses her magic to attack the leader and his men. This causes enough of a commotion for Galius and his men to charge in.

However, the leader still has the magical weapon and activates it. It flares up and there will be no way to escape it or stop it. The quick thinking Shinichi uses a fire extinguisher and it works! The flare is put out and the weapon is useless. The leader fears the fire extinguisher as a powerful weapon and backs away from it. Minori takes her chance to deal the leader a good punch to the face that sends him flying.

As the man falls, he makes a last attempt to preserve his ideals and throws a knife at the Empress. Galius and his men enter to find that the situation is well in hand. The enemy is subdued and the Empress is safe. Myucel jumped in front of Petralka and took the knife meant for her. As she falls to the floor, Shinichi runs to her side. Petralka can’t understand why Myucel protected her, especially after the way she treated the maid.

Myucel doesn’t know herself, but she believes in her master’s dream and in his manga. She would like to see all of people of her world come together and understand one another. Myucel closes her tear filled eyes and the crying Petralka refuses to let her die. She sends for a doctor, but it might be too late. Petralka screams at Myucel, forbidding her to die. I too hope Myucel can be saved. I like the character and would hate to see her die. She is more noble than the nobility she lives under and I would hate for the story to lose her!

Myucel dies. Nothing could be done to save her. But then Myucel wakes up. It was the fish, Elizabeth, that died, not Myucel! What a relief! And she is doing so well in her recovery that Shinichi thought they skipped an episode! LOL And he’s still having issues with being called an “invader”. So much so, that he can’t sleep.

But Shinichi has other problems right now. It’s the first day of school and there is already trouble between the races. Things seem to settle down though. And a month later, Myucel comes home! To a completely messy house! Nice welcome for her. With her usual flair, the house is soon sparkling and things are back to normal.

The class soon gets its first otaku lesson and suffers a bit of a culture shock. Minori is also a bit shocked that Shinichi jumped in with both feet. In fact, she thinks it’s too intense and takes over for a while. But she takes things to the opposite extreme. Shinichi has to step in and remind her that the students are underage. LOL I think the class may need another teacher!

On the way home, Minori is alerted to an intruder. Shinichi finds the “furry” and she’s supposedly just a wandering artist. But she might also be a spy and the soldiers take her away. It bothers Shinichi that the girl will most likely be tortured and killed without even realizing herself that she was a spy. A visit to Petralka confirms this. Galius basically tells Shinichi to stay out of the kingdom’s private affairs, but you know Shinichi isn’t going to do that. Minori already looks like she’s getting a headache. LOL

Shinichi makes his case for having a personal artist on hand. But Petralka sees right through that excuse and questions Shinichi about the “werewolf” girl. Trying to save her because of large breasts? Of course not! Petralka has the girl brought before her to see for herself. Of course Shinichi lied about her breasts. LOL

Shinichi just wants custody of the girl and Galius is against it. They must adhere to the law and execute her after they question her. It falls to Shinichi to prove that the girl is not a spy. He questions Elbia himself, but she just ends up digging her own grave. So, Shinichi takes a different stance. He gets excited over the fluffy furry so who cares if she’s a spy? LOL And Petralka sees right through his farce! She knows that Shinichi wants Elbia as a mistress! LOL Minori tries to save the situation by saying that Shinichi is in love with Galius! LOL I can’t take this anymore! LOL

Shinichi appeals to Galius, but he just blushes and looks away. Shinichi says he gets the feeling that “a weird flag just got set”. Worse yet is when Minori has to explain it to Myucel with Shinichi protesting all the while. Shinichi comes up with another plan. Let him keep the girl and allow Elbia to send her reports back to Bahailam – but only with the false information they give her. Brilliant!

Petralka is just annoyed that Shinichi has nothing but women around him. However, she does end up granting Shinichi custody of Elbia. Elbia is so thrilled to have her life spared that she attacks Shinichi with a fierce hug. Shinichi doesn’t mind a bit, but you know how Petralka feels about it! She even thinks about having Shinichi castrated! LOL

Episode 5 –

spoiler

Elbia is an amazing artist and Shinichi is very pleased with her work. She lives at his house now, so I guess that will make it easier for her to spy as well. At school, it’s time for the students to learn the history of bishojo games. Shinichi plays the beginning of his favorite game for the class, but I don’t think they got it. LOL Meanwhile, Minori keeps asking Shinichi when he’s going to teach a BL lesson! Nag! Nag! Nag! LOL

Something is going on with Elbia. I think her werewolf instincts are coming out and she’s eyeing Shinichi like prey. Interesting. And so much for channeling her urges into other outlets. Her art is getting a little graphic and it disturbs Shinichi. At school, Shinichi hears a fight going on in the classroom but ends up smiling when he enters. His students are arguing about games! Just when Shinichi thinks things are calming down, they escalate. Society for the Protection of Loli Dwarves? Really? LOL Too cute when I remember these guys are about ten years old.

More arguing and Minori shoots off her gun. That calmed everyone down right away! LOL Shinichi is just surprised at how quickly his students are absorbing Japanese culture. Back home, Shinichi is told by Myucel that he’s been summoned to the castle. As he leaves, he sees Elbia watching him from her window. He’s beginning to have some very strange thoughts about her.

At the castle, Petralka is acting weird as well. She tells Shinichi that she hates him, but it looks like she’s expecting something. I laughed when she called Shinichi the “evangelist of otaku culture”. She was trying to be tsundere, but got it mixed up. LOL And Galius is just as bad. He borrowed a book from Minori and you know what kind of book it was too. LOL But now he admits that he has to rethink his original stance on Japanese culture. Oh my! My! My! And as a result, Shinichi gets permission to teach BL at school. LOL

Shinichi has a lot on his mind with Elbia, but during his nightly lesson with Myucel, he asks her if she still wants to go home with him even if it means that she can never return to her own world. Of course she says yes. He has an interesting dream, but when he wakes up, Elbia is on top of him. And just like in the dream, she attacks him, but not to kill him. The reality is a little more “friendly”. LOL His scream brings Minori and Myucel running to his aid, but when they burst into his room, they find Shinichi in the throes of passion with Elbia licking him. LOL

Of course it isn’t what they think – or so he says. Myucel just walks away. Elbia later apologizes. She goes into heat during the full moon and her animal instincts come out. Everything is explained and Elbia jumps on Shinichi again, in gratitude this time. Minori says that the conditions for his harem have been met. LOL At school, Shinichi’s students are still arguing. Yup, it’s just another perfectly normal day for Shinichi! LOL

Episode 6 –

spoiler

The dwarves and the elves are still having disagreements in class and Shinichi turns to Petralka for help. There are more applications for the school, but he can’t accept more students if all they are going to do is fight. He’s also thinking of having Myucel help out with the lectures, but Petralka doesn’t like the idea of Myucel being with Shinichi all day. In that case, Shinichi is going to need another maid at home. He agrees, but then she gets mad at him for wanting “another big-breasted maid”. LOL He never said that!

Shinichi gets a large delivery from Japan and Elbia helps to unpack all of the boxes. Minori’s collectable soccer ball from an anime is included and Elbia likes it a little too much. She is such a puppy! LOL However, losing her precious ball drives Minori insane and she’s all ready to shoot Elbia. Elbia runs off with the ball and Shinichi has Myucel use her magic to stop her.

Minori finally gets her treasure back, but it’s ruined. Elbia formally apologizes and blames her werewolf instincts once again. Minori gives her the ball. And watching Elbia play with it gives Shinichi an idea. He decides to have a soccer match between the dwarves and the elves. Petralka is intrigued and Galius thinks it will be a mock battle. Petralka grants permission for the “friendly competition” and declares that she will be a spectator.

Minori doesn’t see how this will bring the races closer together though and figures Shinichi didn’t play any sports. Matoba doesn’t see how it will help either, but is all for it. Shinichi announces the match to his students and Minori tells them that everyone on the winning team will get a game console and the game of their choice. That certainly sweetens the pot! But do any of these kids even know how to play soccer? LOL They learn by reading manga and watching anime of course!

The day of the match arrives and Petralka is excited. I guess Minori had more than that limited edition collectable ball. The elf team is wearing uniforms from that same anime! LOL And Minori is going nuts taking pictures of them. The match begins and the dwarves score first. The dwarves are very strong and the match isn’t quite going as planned. Romilda literally tears up the field as she scores again for her team.

The field is repaired and the match continues with the dwarves still dominating. I wonder if the elves will even survive this game. LOL The first half ends with a score of fifty to zero. At everyone’s insistence, magic will be allowed in the second half. During lunch, it was funny when Petralka got rice stuck to her cheek and Shinichi wouldn’t let Myucel remove it. He tells them that a fundamental rule is to take it off and eat it. LOL Since, he called her “beautiful”, Petralka allows Shinichi to remove the grain of rice from her cheek. He does and after putting it in his mouth, he shoots straight to heaven!

Of course, Petralka returns the favor and that excites Shinichi even more. But there is still a grain of rice on Shinichi’s other cheek and Galius takes care of that one. Shinichi just deflates. LOL Well, it’s time for the second half anyway. With the inclusion of magic now, the elves seem to be holding their own against the stronger dwarves. But they are doing just as much damage to the field. Shinichi sees that the entire purpose of the match is being lost as this turns into a very real war.

Matoba knew it would turn out this way, but Shinichi refuses to give up. He’s about to call an end to the game when Petralka substitutes herself in. And with Myucel’s help, she scores a goal. Of course there wasn’t anyone left to really stop her. LOL But the onlookers are shocked to see their Empress with a half-elf. Matoba thinks this will cause problems, but Shinichi doesn’t see why it should. He thinks seeing Petralka and Myucel together like that is a beautiful sight.

The match officially ends in a draw. But the teams end up sharing the prize and at school, Shinichi walks in to another argument between the dwarves and the elves. However, Shinichi thinks it was still worthwhile and that it was still a step forward, if only a very tiny one. But I still enjoyed Elbia playing with the ball the most. LOL

spoiler

Shinichi has been getting the incorrect items from his orders and complains to Matoba. He sympathizes but doesn’t seem too concerned. So, Shinichi demands to return to Japan and do the shopping himself. But Matoba says that this will cause complications. The angry Shinichi makes his case and finally wins approval.

That night, Shinichi tells Myucel his plans and she asks him if he will return. He assures the worried Myucel that he will come back. He had actually asked Matoba to allow Myucel to go with him, but that request was refused. Matoba told him that residents of this world will die in their world, but somehow, I don’t believe that at all.

The SDF arrives in the morning with the drug to put Shinichi to sleep. Myucel mentions her duties and excuses herself. Shinichi has a wonderful dream and wants to enjoy it thoroughly, but when he see Galius is nothing but an apron, he knows it’s time to wake up. LOL When he does, he sees that he’s back in his very own bedroom that he’s missed so much. But he also sees his luggage and wonders why there are two bags. He opens one to reveal Myucel! The rings don’t work in this world so Myucel gets to use her Japanese.

Myucel apologizes, saying that she wasn’t sure that Shinichi would return to her world. So she came with him. But Shinichi is more concerned for her health and soon realizes what Matoba had told him was a lie, for Myucel is perfectly fine. Meanwhile, Minori reports to Matoba that Myucel went with Shinichi after all. Myucel apologizes again and wants to clean Shinichi’s room, but he won’t let her.

Matoba lets Zaharl and Galius know that Shinichi took a quick trip home and will be back the following day. I hope Galius knows that he’s going to be in big trouble with Petralka. In order to get her to do her paperwork, he promised to have Shinichi summoned to the palace. Oops! LOL He can only hope that there is enough paperwork to keep Petralka busy, so she doesn’t find out.

I enjoyed Myucel’s fascination with the way things works in this world. Watching her with the water faucet, Shinichi decides to take Myucel to Akiba. Wearing a hat to cover her ears, Myucel gets excited at every little thing, just while walking down the street. She was even more captivated by the train ride to Akiba. Once there, Myucel sees a lot of maids and Shinichi has to explain about maid cafĂ©s and cosplay. Shinichi sees an event with a voice actress at a store and gets a little jealous. But Myucel makes him an enticing offer instead. LOL

Then Shinichi takes Myucel to a soba restaurant, and shows her how to eat it. But she goes for the “food of a demon” instead which was funny. Shinichi should have thought to warn her about wasabi. LOL All in all the two of them have a nice day out. I think Shinichi enjoyed seeing the city through Myucel’s eyes. Her one request of the day is to visit a maid cafĂ©. She has Shinichi’s face drawn on her omelet and then can’t eat it because it’s him. It took her a half hour just to try. That whole cafĂ© experience was hysterical.

Back in his room, it finally hits him that he will be spending the night, all alone, with a girl. Myucel sees Shinichi sweating and offers to prepare a bath for him. That just gets Shinichi more excited and he tells her that it’s a bad idea. Then she offers to make the bed and that gives Shinichi more ideas. To make matters worse, Myucel didn’t bring any clothes with her. Shinichi goes to the store to buy Myucel underwear, while she enjoys a bath. I think buying female underwear was the hardest thing Shinichi ever had to do, even with all his perverted thoughts. LOL On the way home, there are signs that he should have a fun night and has trouble calming down. Too funny!

Shinichi goes back to his apartment like he’s storming a castle! But he finds Myucel fast asleep and puts her in his bed. However, there are more signs that he should be taking advantage of her, such as the “Be Led by Your Desires!” tee shirt that Myucel has on. He decides to go for it, but Myucel says something in her sleep that stops him. Shinichi ends up covering her with a blanket and calmly goes to take his bath, or perhaps it should be a cold shower. LOL

Petralka has finished all of her paperwork and is demanding to see Shinichi. I couldn’t stop laughing when Zaharl showed up dressed like Shinichi. Seeing right through the obvious sham, Petralka takes both Zaharl and Galius to task for not telling her that Shinichi returned to Japan. And that he returned “alone”. LOL Wait till she finds out that Myucel went with him! Anyway, without Shinichi around, Petralka seems to lose interest and walks out of the room without punishing her advisors.

Shinichi wakes up the following morning to find himself back in the other world. But he never did what he went back to Japan for in the first place! LOL Matoba berates him for spending all that money with nothing to show for it. But there was one thing. Myucel can now make omelets and draw pictures on them with ketchup! LOL This was a really fun episode!
