The Pokemon Company’s Japanese branch unveiled the full trailer for the upcoming Pokémon the Movie XY: Ring no Chōmajin Hoopa film on Saturday:

Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comic magazine had reported last year that the Pokémon franchise’s 2015 film would feature “Primal Reversion” forms of the legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre.

The 2014 Pokémon film, Pocket Monster XY: Hakai no Mayu to Diancie (Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction), premiered in Japan last July. Nintendo released Nintendo 3DS remakes of Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire titled Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire world-wide in November.

The Pokémon Company began streaming the latest promotional video for the Pocket Monsters XY Tokubetsu Hen: Saikyō Mega Shinka ~Act III~ (Pokémon XY Special: The Strongest Mega Evolution ~Act III~) special on Friday.

The third special is slated to air on March 19 at 7 p.m. JST on TV Tokyo and its affiliates.

The cast includes:

Model for “CanCam” magazine relates her life-long love of Pokemon

Mizuki Yamamoto, a model for the Japanese fashion magazine CanCam (short for “I Can Campus”) published by Shogakukan, will provide the narration for the upcoming Pokemon short animated film, Pikachu and the Pokemon Musicians.

Yamamoto describes herself as a “Pokejyo” (ポケ女), a dedicated lady fan of Pokemon. She describes her work as a voice actress as challenging. She also recalls that going to see the 17 previous Pokemon theatrical films with her family during the summertime was a formative experience for her as a child.

Pikachu and the Pokemon Musicians is a short film that will play alongside Pokemon the Movie XY: The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa. Both films hit Japanese theaters on July 18, 2015.

Alain’s objective on his journey is to “defeat all Mega Evolution Pokémon and stand at the top of the strongest summit.” Along their journey Alain and Charizard meet and battle with Mega Absol and Mega Gaburias (Mega Garchomp). The first special debuted in Japan in April 2014, and then Cartoon Network aired the special under the title Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special I in May 2014. The second special premiered in Japan in November, and Cartoon Network aired it in America in February. The third special aired in Japan on March 19.

The Pokemon Company has finally joined the era of social media with the debut of the official Japanese Pokemon Facebook page.

So far, only a handful of posts featuring original videos and artwork exist, but the new page has already accumulated thousands of ‘likes’, and its description promises to provide more news, information, and videos in the future.

We can only hope that Pikachu begins engaging in the most timeless of Facebook traditions: taking unflattering selfies and posting pictures of its breakfast to annoy its friends.

Genki Rockets vocalist to release debut solo album on October 11, 2015

Rei Yasuda, the vocalist for the band Genki Rockets, will be performing the theme song for the upcoming Pokemon the Movie XY: The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa film that is coming to Japanese theaters in the summer of 2015.

Yasuda, who was born in America but moved to Japan at age 3, has been a fan of Pokemon since she was a child. Her song for the new Pokemon film, “Tweedia”, is named after a flower. In the symbolic language of flowers, tweedia means “believing in love and happiness with all your heart”.

Yasuda will also be releasing her debut solo album on October 08, 2015. Pokemon the Movie XY: The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa arrives in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2015.

The Pokémon Company began streaming an English trailer for Pokémon the Movie XY: Ring no Chōmajin Hoopa on Monday. The trailer reveals that film’s English title will be Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. The video premiered in Cannes, France on Monday and previews the film’s English dub.

The Pokémon Company describes the film’s story:

The 70-minute animated movie takes Ash, Pikachu, and their friends to a desert city by the sea. Here they meet the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, which has the ability to summon things—including people and Pokémon—through its magic rings.

After a scary incident, they learn of a story about a brave hero who stopped the rampage of a terrifying Pokémon long ago. Now, the threat that has been bottled up for years is in danger of breaking loose again! Can Ash help his new friend overcome the darkness within…or will a dangerous secret erupt into a clash of legends?

The Japanese version of the trailer premiered in March.

Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages opens July 18 in Japan

The Pokémon Company International began streaming a video on Tuesday unveiling Hoopa Unbound, the “true form” of the legendary Pokémon Hoopa. The video features footage from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, though Hoopa will not be available through normal gameplay.

Hoopa is ordinarily a first psychic- and ghost-type Pokémon, but Hoopa Unbound is a psychic- and dark-type.

Hoopa will star in the upcoming film Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, which opens in Japan on July 18. The film will also feature “Primal Reversion” forms of the legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre.

A new science exhibit entitled “Pokémon Lab: You Do It! You Discover!” coming in July to Miraikan promises to make learning fun for the whole family.

The exhibit will teach visitors about the scientific method using various Pokémon-inspired games and activities. A history of the Pokémon franchise and an examination of the development of telecommunications technology in home video game consoles will also play a part in the exhibit.

The “Pokémon Lab: You Do It! You Discover!” exhibit runs from July 08 to October 12, 2015 at the Miraikan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan. Tickets range in price from 500 yen ($4.17 US) for small children to 1600 yen ($13.33 US) for adults.

5-act anime starring many Pikachu to debut on Thursday

TV Tokyo has confirmed that a new Pikachu one-hour television special will premiere on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Pocket Monster XY Pikachu the Movie 1 Jikan Special (Pokémon XY: Pikachu the Movie 1-Hour Special) anime will feature a “big outbreak” of Pikachu.

The special will feature five acts: “Pikachu wa Star!? Eiga Debut!!” (Pikachu’s a Star?! Movie Debut!), “How to Pikachu the Movie! Yo-i! Action!!” (How to Pikachu the Movie! Reeeady! Action!!), “Jinrai no Hero! Super Pikachu!!” (Thunderclap Hero! Super Pikachu!!), “Pikachu no Doki Doki NG Taishō” (Pikachu’s Heart-Pounding No Good Prize), and “Chōsen Pokémon Sky Relay! Tobe Onbat!!” (Challenge Pokémon Sky Relay! Fly, Noibat!!).

Those who have purchased or will purchase pre-order tickets for the film can now use the code they received with the tickets to download a level 100 Arceus as well as a choice of one of six Legendary Pokémon for their Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Nintendo 3DS games.
