Perhaps this is what the Japanese think Americans look like lol? Whatever they got wrong in the character desgins, they got right in the setting. I must say they got a lot right about New York City. It feels very much like they are in New York City, the animators did their homework. One complaint tho. Too clearn . Manhattan is a dirty, dirty place.

Also Roosevelt Island has no school on it. It doesn’t look all pretty either . No grass there. I think there’s only like apartment buildings and crap there. But I assume this wasn’t meant to be realistic, it’s an anime-only school . Not based on anything in real life.

It’s not really a musical lol. The girls randomly sing for some reason, and I don’t understand why, but this only happens a handful of times. And the dub singing is supposed to be sub-par, so says the word of God and ADV’s ADR director. The Japanese singing was kinda crappy too.

I’ve watched the “singing” in both the Japanese and English versions, and they were both quite bad. But that did give a bit of realism to it. How often are a group of 16 year old girls going to randomly break out in song and all be good at singing?

Also, very nice visual. It makes you wonder if that’s what Gonzo really thinks we Americans look like…lol

The style now that you brought that in to my head is very similar to some of the 80’s cartoons that were animated overseas.

Anyway I started re-watching this series this mourning. It’s just as good as I remember it. Also I’m picking up on some of the more important things I missed on my first watch. Sadly it’s not as thrilling as it was the first time, since I know what happens.
