Thing a lot of people don’t seem to get is it’s not about sub or dub fans anymore its about staying in business and Anime. The way it should have been all along. People have preferences ,but I shall take a old saying and alter it. In order to stay in business they can not please all the people all the time. Sentai is also filling the void of niche titles. Titles that would not sell well enough to make money back if they were to dub them so other companies leave them unlicensed. He is My Master and the Second season of You’re Under Arrest Season 2 are prime examples of this. Both good shows ,but they more then likely would not have shown a profit or even break even if they had been dubbed.
When it was all ADV and Geneon/Pioneer they made the mistake of trying to please everyone and in the end look what happened. The problem I see happening for certain companies are a lot of the current buyers are what could be called fad fans. They are in it for the fad ,but once they grow tired of it or of paying they will leave/go back to just fansubs and then all certain companies are left with is older fans they jaded by focusing on the fad fans.
In the end it can no longer be about dub and sub fans its got to be about staying in business and Anime.
