Tried a recipe a friend gave me last night!

Came into a box of apples the other day, so…

Wish we had some vanilla ice cream, but the stores closed before I left work today…

Got home early, and had a couple things that’s been sitting in the fridge for a bit, so random dinner! BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with chicken penne Alfredo and baked sliced potatoes!

Yami: “It doesn’t matter that it’s a bit mismatched! Still delicious!!! :yellow_heart::black_heart:

Came into A LOT of green peppers today.

The family doesn’t eat them, so I tried doing a one pan omelette, grilling the green peppers first… It didn’t turn out well…

I don’t use green bell peppers when I cook so I’m not sure what you could do with them :thinking:

Pasta dishes. Beef and bell peppers. Omelettes. Pizza topping. Cheese steak topping. Stuff them with a meatloaf and bake them. Put in a salad. There’s a lot more too!

Yami: “The problem is that Maou’s folks won’t eat anything made with them in it… So… We’re gonna have to try to eat as much as we can before they go bad… And there’s like 30 of them… If not more…”

Going back to the bell peppers, do the different colors each have a different taste for you?

Yes.

The red bell peppers are slightly sweeter than green ones, as the red ones are ripened on the vine, while the green peppers are harvested before fully ripened, which causes a much more bitter taste.

The difference in taste isn’t the most noticable thing in the world, but it is noticable enough for my folks to not eat green peppers (unless they’re hidden in the cooking process… Heh heh heh…), but eat both red and yellow ones.

That’s interesting. I’ve heard some say there isn’t a difference but I guess it just depends on the person.

Though I find the red ones to have a very strong “bell pepper” smell. While the yellow and orange ones have a milder scent. But in taste they do vary slightly for me. We don’t eat the green ones. I feel that’s mostly because the red, orange, and yellow ones look so pretty in a stir fry :laughing:

Bourbon chicken with green peppers, collard greens, and baby broccoli!

Yami: “Absolutely incredible!!! The baby broccoli is like a cross between asparagus and broccoli and is so buttery!!! And the bourbon chicken has green peppers? They’re not noticable at all!”

That’s right! There’s two whole green peppers in the overall dish, minus the seed pouch and the core! Heh heh heh…

Didn’t know that Yellow or Red peppers existed until I was about 10 or 11 years old. We only every bought Green and only every used them to make stuffed baked peppers for the occasional Sunday dinner. There was no such thing as Stir Fry in my home town. Not until after 1975 when several hundred Vietnamese refugees settled there.

Eating was not an adventure in my early days, more of a chore.

The Sadao family thanksgiving dinner!!!

Yami: “He’s kidding guys. At work today he was on the pizza board from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and apparently it did not stop! This pizza was never picked up, so he just took it home with him. LOL. The real Thanksgiving dinner will be posted in a little bit.”
