I know you guys/girl aren’t night people like I am, but is there any other way (besides the report button and sending an inbox to Rai) to report spam groups and such that gets them taken care of quicker?

The runnings in the community is more of Rai’s area of dominion, so I’ll let him answer this question.

As of right now, the best thing to do is what you’ve been doing. I got your earlier report, but I was not near a computer at the time so I couldn’t handle it right away. Thanks for you vigilance by the way, it really helps out getting those reports!

Reported spam group in Community.

I was wondering if the three current simulcast groups are going to be added to the Featured Groups section?

http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,1003/task,viewgroup/view,groups/
http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,996/task,viewgroup/view,groups/
http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,1004/task,viewgroup/view,groups/

Save for two ( http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,819/task,viewgroup/view,groups/ & http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,932/task,viewgroup/view,groups/ ), all other simulcast groups have been added to the Featured Groups section, so I was curious.

Another thing that should be brought up about groups…
We really need a better way of presenting groups that already exist, so users stop making multitudes of the same groups.

Such as this newest Clannad group…

http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,1011/task,viewgroup/view,groups/

We already have 5 other Clannad groups that can be joined and discussed in.
We don’t need a 6th.

In most cases, it seems to be users are just too lazy to use the Group Search function, but in some cases (not this one of course) it’s been spelling differences leading up to multiple groups.

lol Yeah this one made me laugh. Of all places to advertise something like that… It appears to be from China aswell…

I already reported it, but this goes along with what I was saying about a better way of presenting groups.

This is a new Kobato. group…

http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,1054/task,viewgroup/view,groups/

However, we already have one though…

http://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_community/Itemid,79/groupid,955/task,viewgroup/view,groups/

But it’s been buried by 70+ groups on the View All group page (a lot of which, are rather useless)

Image uploads are not working currently.

To be honest never got the point of groups. It just seems to split some of the discussion away from the boards and less convenient.

Funny you should bring that up, that was my initial concern when they started up the seperate Jomsocial community.

I still feel that way too.
However, watching both over the past couple years as I have, I can kind of see the use of Jomsocial now.

Certian people types don’t actually like posting on forums in general.
Just take a look at all the comments on the TAN videos from people who have never once posted on the forum what they thought.
And from what I’ve seen, Community commentary seems to be more limited to basic socializing than actual anime releated discussions.

Sure, we might actually get a huge influx of forum posting if we funneled everyone to the forum, but I really think the quality of the forum would suffer if we did that.

I mean, as it is now, we already have a lot of people here on the forum that just use it in a more social fashion.
If we focused everyone to the forums, of the community users that stick around and just don’t outright stop posting, we’d probably only gain more socializing.

I’d be ripping hair out if some of those people of that type actually came on the forum. Ones that do I wish at times I could just throw a barrel at the heathen monkeys! I still do not care for the community section. My opinion still stands at if ya want social idiocy go to Facebook or tweet .

Uploads are up and running again.

I actually enjoy the social section. First of all, the groups dedicated to shows have little discussion going on most of the time. So they seem to detract from the forums very little. Actually the most active groups seem to be the ones that are not directly associated to one particular show.

The social section allows people to interact in a more private way than the forums do. Groups can be set to private so only certain members can join, which I happen to like. It allows people to keep spammers and whiners out, something you can’t readily do in the forums as easily.

The only big problem I see with the social section is that most people fail to use the search function before starting a new group, or when they do, they don’t do it properly.

It appears that photo upload in the Community Groups is not working. I’ve attempted to upload two photos and I keep getting the error message that the “file format is not supported”. They are just normal jpg files that I’ve had no issues uploading before.
