I didn’t receive any updates this week.

TWC San Antonio, TX 78251

Nothing received for the January 19, 2012 update as of yet.

Currently Missing for the week of 1/19/12

 • TWC - Kenosha, WI 53143 *

I just checked and there are no updates for anything as of yet.

Yes, but it’s extremely unlikely that one city has more than one TWC hub serving it, so it’s more or less a matter of finding them and picking one. I mean I don’t use my current one, I use my old one, it’s the same thing.

I’m not implying you’re an idiot or anything, I just get tired of the whole TWC blames TAN and TAN blames TWC thing. If one city has an issue, then it’s that hub. If they all have an issue, then it’s TAN and they probably should do something about it.

I did check a couple more times but still nothing and given how many folks are missing I don’t expect it to turn up, although for the benefit of everyone else posting there have been instances where an update for one week turned up the next week because of issues on the TWC end (unfortunately that messed up the next week’s update as well).

When I said call in to TWC, and since it’s not posted in this 2012 thread, I believe one has to call the number to report a problem, then ask the person who answers to go up to the next level over their head - the person who answers normally can’t help, they’ll tell you to reboot the box and all these things that do nothing because they don’t know not to blame you or TAN. You may even have to argue some with the next level of support that an update was sent out and is missing, it’s like they’re trained to try not to have to do anything; other times they look and agree there’s a problem, but whether or not it’s fixed is another story. Of course, you can’t directly talk to the person responsbile for the VOD updates, at least not here, I was told they don’t take customer calls. Like I said, if anyone wants to try and post their results it might be good to have the info for the report that gets turned in Monday.

It’s not just a matter of TAN and TWC, there is a third-party. TAN sends the content to the third-party, who then sends it on to all the providers, so it’s not as cut and dry as that. If TAN sent it out correctly and all the other providers got it, then something went wrong with the third-party provider. (Or with TWC themselves, that’s why calling them is so important, but I agree that since it’s such a wide-spread problem, that’s not the case this time.)

I will be reporting this early to Admin to see if we can get them to send a re-pitch for TWC.

And, as far as calling in to TWC, in the first post in this thread, there is a link called “Anime Network VOD Providers” which takes you to helpful hints about what to say and do when you call your providers.

Hi Slowhand,

Does the missing first episode of The World God Only Knows on DirecTV fall through the cracks somewhere in that process? Should we be jumping on DirecTV to see what’s going on there?

Thanks for your time and work on all this,

No, it doesn’t fall through the cracks, although it is a lower priority because it is available on the Online Player for free.

I do understand that there are some of you with dial-up modems that cannot watch it on the player and I’ve mentioned that to Administration.

That report did go to Admin last Monday, and I have not heard back yet on what was done. So as soon as I hear something, I’ll let you know.

Although, after a week, it doesn’t hurt to call DirecTV and see what they say. B)

Cool, thanks for that info.

If I had to go back to a dial-up modem now, the only thing you’d ever hear from me again would be a news story about an old guy who jumped off a bridge:

“Witnesses reported that he mysteriously fell in slow motion, as though his terminal velocity had somehow been reduced to 1200 baud.”

52.0 kbps is fine for most online stuff, and I can use it as a phone line too.

I checked again about a quarter after 8 EST and the full update was available, one new show and Ro-Byu-Ku moved from Girl Power to Super Happy Funtime. (I probably need to check the spelling on that).

Nice job on the cross-court service return!

Unfortunately, I doubt that any of the professional escalators at DirecTV are going to understand the message. They’re still working on “pathos”, and have a long, long ways to go.

Time Warner Cable, 93035, still no episodes updated since last week…killing my saturday morning ritual!!!

TWC San Antonio, TX 78251

Checked again this morning, still nothing received for the January 19, 2012 update.

received all the missing episodes, thank you

Their original response to my complaint was “thank for your suggestion”.

I understand your concern regarding the VOD ‘TheWorld God Only Knows’. Allow me to assist you.

As you know, we’re not ‘TheWorld God Only Knows’ episode 1 right now, however, thanks for your suggestion. I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV management for review. While DIRECTV Management can not follow up individually with every customer, rest assured every suggestion and comment is reviewed. We often make changes based on customer feedback like yours.

My response:

01/19/2012 11:11 AM

As you know, we’re not ‘TheWorld God Only Knows’ episode 1 right now, however, thanks for your suggestion.

Sorry, but I am unable to parse that sentence.

 1. This is NOT a suggestion; it is a complaint about a defect in the VOD lineup.
 2. DirecTV definitely IS supposed to have ‘The World God Only Knows’ right now.

Episode 1 was supposed to show up on Channel 1889 at 12:01am on 01/12,
with an expiration date of 02/08. The episode was pitched by the
Anime Network for the content aggregators to pick up to be made
available to the viewers.

Last week, DirecTV’s contracted VOD service provider failed to pick up
all the available episodes. See

Please open a trouble ticket regarding this defect.
To repeat: this is not a suggestion.

You patience exceeds mine by exactly one (1) Neutron Bomb.

I’ve submitted a complaint too, via their Customer Service email. Let’s see what happens next.
