verb \Ëkach, Ëkech\
8: to make contact with : strike
Letâs play silly buggers and semantics huh?
Official Indoor Rules
USA Volleyball Domestic Competition Rules
9.3 FAULTS IN PLAYING THE BALL
9.3.1 FOUR HITS: a team hits the ball four times before returning it.
9.3.2 ASSISTED HIT: a player takes support from a team-mate or any structure/object in order to hit
the ball within the playing area.
9.3.3 CATCH: the ball is caught and/or thrown; it does not rebound from the hit.
9.3.4 DOUBLE CONTACT: a player hits the ball twice in succession or the ball contacts various parts of his/her body in succession.
when making a subtitle you MUST observe proper nomenclature for the activity and not general language terms. Considering this sub/dub will be in the USA, then those speaking English AND knowing anything about volleyball, will laugh at the screw-up for for incompetence of the writer of the sub/dub when they propose one of the players purposefully does something ILLEGAL within the game that is being presented.
Look it isnât that hard, and you can argue all you want, you are NOT allowed to catch the ball in volleyball, and the words need to be changed. simple as that.
So Sentai will look the fool risking not getting any more sports related shows and be left with only its softcore porn if that is what it wants, or it can buck up and change the word to something correct.
Rather than trying to play a semantics game, you should say thanks to the FREE editors and QA people you have that is offering a correction where the PAID editor and WRITER of the sub failed, rather than bandi around nonsense, and jsut make the simple change.
Again this is why I say the VOD is a terrific vessel for finding these mistakes LONG before anything goes to dub or to âprintâ but you have to be willing to use it and not feign ignorance or omniscience when a correction that needs to be made is noted but one of those people that catches these constant subtitle errors be they grammatical, timing, or general typos.
Like I said I donât know many sports, except for general about them, in the case something seems off with the Ace of Diamond sub and wordings, but I canât pinpoint it as I can with the fact you are NOT allowed to catch the ball in volleyball. simple as that. Just rewrite the word or phrase, re-dub it (if need be) and be done accepting the fault of whoever wrote it. Then jsut pay more attentnion in the future so these kinds of mistakes do not happen with proper editing meaning someone NOT involved in the writing, translating or timing needs to watch EVERY episode to catch things like this and the other errors like timing, typos, etc mentioned previously. that is what is called a new/clean set of eyes to see what the initial people may have taken for granted.
Edit: I wasnât âplaying semantics.â I was informing you of the way in which the word was being used.
You are the rudest person Iâve ever had the pleasure of talking to on this forum.
Everything that you type drips with sarcasm, hate, and a superiority complex. Next time you want to bring something to the attention of someone, try being a little more personable. Iâm serious. There is absolutely no reason for you to address me in this way.
Also, this made me laugh a little.
