Just the The short version this week:
Everything scheduled has arrived on both Cutting Edge and On Demand, and starts up fine. As for the lead-in anomalies, we took one more baby step towards complete resolution–last week there were two episodes missing their promos and Groaning-Mechas-in-the-Bay, and this week we’re down to one-and-a-half: Re:Stage #6 is missing its promo and Groaning-Mecha-in-the-Bay, while Tanaka-kun #6 has its Mecha, but is missing its promo.
(Irrelevant Sidebar of the Week: Speaking of Restage!! Dream Days, I took a run at it and bounced off hard. Maybe I was unconsciously expecting it to live up to Hanayamata, a show I didn’t think I would like going in, but which surprised me by being utterly charming and deeply satisfying and left me wanting more. Re:Stage is certainly no Hanayamata.
Or maybe I’ve just temporarily hit my current limit on shows like these–there certainly seems to have been a lot of AN girl band/girl school antics/schoolgirl romance shows these past few months.
But I don’t think it’s either of those two things–I think it may be the art, with its over-sized heads (or undersized torsos?) and too-similar faces, almost as if they started with Is the order a rabbit?'s characters and pushed them all the way over the edge into Too-Cute-Semi-Chiba Canyon.
But am I missing out on something?) (Uh, I’m certainly missing out on something. But is that something both (a) good and (b) Re:Stage?)

First, I’m kinda glad that people besides me are continuing to see these skips. I quit reporting them - not only since my viewing habits have changed to where I don’t download/watch in a timely manner for reporting purposes, and also since the only other regular DTV reporter (@pls2000) apparently doesn’t see them, leading me to believe that I was the only one experiencing them and that the issue was between me and DTV instead of something wider. That’s my fault for not asking them directly.
Thank you for investigating the matter further. Now to my answers to your questions…
Q: Are you seeing the glitches on the app or on a cable box? Or both?
A: I don’t use the app. The glitches appear on my cable box - model HR44-200.
Q: Do the glitches happen in the same place if you watch the episode again, or are they random?
A: I don’t attempt to watch the episode a second time. However, if I rewind and attempt to replay, the skips do occur at the same spot.

- It still seems to be a reliable indicator that the presence or absence of the usual TAN intro/outro in an episode will indicate the absence or presence of skips.
- I have not attempted to put a stopwatch on affected episodes to see if the skips occur at the same relative places. They do seem to begin about a third of the way in, however, and I don’t remember where there’s only been one skip, but I’ve not tried to track number of skips per episode.
- I can (sort of) watch the skipped sections by rewinding to just before the skip, then pause and then advance frame-by-frame past the skip point, then resume normal playback. Whenever I do this, I have always had at least one more skip later in the episode. I do not know if those skips were caused by my workaround or if they were already part of the episode.
- I have had at least two different DTV receivers since I started watching TAN on demand many long years ago - well before these skips began to occur. The remote included with each one had a “6-second rewind” button that, on every channel I’ve tried except for TAN, works exactly as advertised. However, since day one, while watching any TAN content, the button once causes a random one-or-more-second jump forward. Quick multiple-presses (usually more than 3) usually make the desired short rewind happen. It works the same way with the skipping episodes. I have recently learned that when playing TAN content, the normal rewind buttons seem to begin rewinding at points several seconds later than where I was when actually pressing the button. Eventually, it rewinds to the original point and then beyond without incident. I can then pause or play from the desired spot without further drama. I don’t do enough VOD from other DTV content providers to say that it only happens with TAN, but I have only seen it happen with TAN.

As of today, 3/24/21 @ 1:35 am, there was a change in some series SD or HD episodes, see below. Based on the post from @Slowhand, I have removed all SD entries under the “Problem” section. Although, Frontier is still loading SD versions that may affect episode counts. The episode count went from 1499 to 1475, a reduction of 24 episodes.
