Anime Network Website Suggestions (pre-2015)

It’s currently restricted to registered members. New Topic was just another way of saying New Thread.

I noticed from the iOS support topic that the website is setup to allow iOS users to watch shows from the web site. I recently got a Nexus 7, and as it doesn’t have Flash, it can’t view content here. Maybe see about extending support for the streaming that iOS users get to Android users who have devices without Flash like the Nexus 7?

I have a few suggestion

  1. During forums can we have a preview mode or something that allows us to preview what we may post before doing so?

That would help a lot for those who may have to big of a Signatures or Video and maybe even a last spell check.

  1. Also another suggestion can we add more stuff to our profiles such as maybe a background image?
so when some one views our profile they may see a nice background.

  2. If not the background image can we at least view a person’s signature on there profile? like maybe in a corner or something it’s small and nice and we can like a person’s sig and get update’s on our friends like “BlackRock has just uploaded a new sig!”

Also I am liking the karma system.

That’s about all I have for this suggestion box if you find anything wrong with my suggestion’s or there is no possible to do any of my suggestions please reply to this post or just P.M me.

One of the buttons on the toolbar is in fact a preview. Actually, there’s two, one to display the preview below the box you’re entering text in, and one to display it on the right.

I prefer a preview next to the submit button though.

Here are a few suggestions that could be added to the online player that I feel would make things easier and more user friendly…

1.) Is it possible to add a ‘continuous play’ feature to the player? This would allow someone to continue to watch episodes from a particular series without having to input any commands in. This would especially be helpful to those that use their TVs as a viewing platform, considering that depending on one’s setup, you wouldn’t need to get up to select the next episode.

2A.) Could a queue system be added to our profiles? This would allow us to queue up various series to watch for later.

2B.) Also, we could add them to a favorites list so that when future episodes are added to Anime Network they can be directly added to our queues.

2C.) This could also allow for a better sharing experience between fellow Anime Network members of what they are watching as per their privacy settings.

3.) Lastly, is there some way that a series expiration date could be added somewhere on the series’ info page? This would allow for users to not have to worry that a series may be removed from the online player while they are currently in the middle of watching the series. No one hates it more than anime fans to not be able to finish a series the next day they go to resume watching it.

Thank you for reading my suggestions, and let me know if there are any questions. If I come up with anything else, I will be sure to write in… Thanx again.

i hope i’ve done this crrectly. i f not please forgive me i’m new. anyway…

it would be nice if there was a permanate section on the sites main page explaning how things work. mainly the difference between guest, registerd, and premium usres. it would make things a little less confuseing to newbs like me.

when i first got here i thought cool and watched a few different animes with no problem. then i couldn’t. well i GUEESED i needed to sign up. i clicked the link and the first thing i saw was that it said i was registerd. don’t know how that happend but that’s when the confusment started.

anyway something like a welcome to the anime network on the main page that explained how thing work would be a friendly touch.

When someone reports to your customer service that the login system is broken. Please do not reset their password to their first name. That is one of the absolute worst passwords you can use.

Additionally, please actually verify their email. If they’re communicating with a different address please send a separate email to their officially registered address to verify their identity.

My registered address is currently set to "theanimenetwork@danielfriesen.name". The login system was broken on the 17th and I reported it saying I couldn’t login with my password. However I sent it from my primary email "daniel@nadir-seen-fire.com".

So I wonder how trivial it would have been to make your customer service give me control of another user’s account.

I had a small ‘tweak’ suggestion for when adding a hyperlink to a post. I find it strange that when a hyperlink is added using the button above that when inserted, the link information line is placed at the top of the post. Of course, just selecting and dragging the newly named link to the appropriate spot corrects this… it just seems like something that is very unnecessary.

This can be frustrating while you are in the middle of composing a long post and then decide to add a link at the end of what you were writing. This also can become cumbersome if there is a lot of boardcode editing present in the post. It would be much appreciated if when this option is used that the inserted link would go at the bottom rather than the top if possible.

Thank you.

I had posted this in another thread within the Suggestion Box prior to this post. Just to make sure that wasn’t a dead thread, I have reposted this in what seems to be the best place… Thank you. Blog / Important Notice for Anime Network Online Users - Anime Network

I meant to answer this the last time I came across it. I, too, found that to be frustrating, so I don’t use it anymore. I find it much easier to just put the link in myself. In that one instance, I find it much easier to just type the boardcode in myself.

Sections of the provider’s WHAT’S ON pages (such as /Whats-On/Anime-Network-Video-on-Demand/ATT and /Whats-On/Anime-Network-Video-on-Demand/DirecTV) have not been updated in three years.

The out-of-date info for AT&T is subtle, but there; it mentions “the critically-acclaimed conclusion of Clannad”.

For my provider, signs of neglect are much more blatant.

I get the feeling that the FREE 30 providers are second-class citizens compared to the SVOD 45 providers.

I have a possible forum BBCode addition that could be added to the text alignment options. Is it possible that a ‘columns’ option could be added? This would help greatly with the creation of lists and the spacing of related topics…

[hr]
Red Text Example, Selected BBCode:

[column1]Angel Beats[/column1]
[column2]Ep. 06 - “Family Affair”[/column2]

Example VOD Report, Displayed Message:

Angel Beats** >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Column Space<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< **Ep. 06 - “Family Affair”

[hr]
Of course, the example provided is just one way that this possible idea could be used for. You could create a double list side by side or divide a long alphabetical list into two equal shorter columns. These are just a few ways that I would often use this option for and allows me to create some common posts, such as VOD reports, with much greater ease.

When used, the columns could be as long as the poster may want them to be depending on the text within the BBCode. This would help to shorten long posts that extend far down the page. Also, a thin border line of sorts could be displayed for visual assistance when using this alignment option. Please consider this idea… it would be much appreciated if it could be implemented.

Thank you.

AH! That nagging Lumis again… LOL! Here is a suggestion that I had forgotten to mention. Is it possible that a warning prompt could be added that would display if a user would try to navigate away while composing a post? An example of what I am proposing is… say you are composing a post and accidently click on the outer borders of the post message box. If you were to go to hit backspace on the keyboard to delete a word, you are flung back in your page history to the last page before hitting ‘reply’.

This has been a problem that, being the klutz I am, have encountered before several times and can get quite annoying after composing a long post. This also goes for hitting the enter key as well before you are finished. If a prompt could be added warning you that you are about to navigate away from your post before submitting it… are you sure(?), it would correct this bothersome occurrence. Maybe it’s just me or others have run into this as well, though it would be appreciated if this could be considered.

Example:

[quote]Warning: You are about to leave this page before submitting your message! Are you sure?
Yes/Cancel[/quote]

Thank you again.

you need one were one can choose by genre/sub-genres, say sci-fi, drama, echii, a combination of 3 or more genres, that way fans can watch their favorite or soon to- be fav anime shows.

How about an app for web TV enhanced devices without built in flash players, such as BD player’s, game consoles, web enabled TV’S, android phones. I ask this for myself and maybe a few others who have internet access but no PC’s, or ios or flash playing android devices. Hulu plus is nice but I want and am willing to pay for monthly premium subscriber if I had chance

An option to DELETE one’s account. I want to DELETE MY ACCOUNT…

Suggestion #1: Change the title of this thread to remove “(2010)”, since the pre-2010 stuff is no longer relevant.

Suggestion #2: Add another column of information to the “What’s On / https://www.theanimenetwork.com/Whats-On/Anime-Network-Online” page.
(Credit Razmoudah for https://www.theanimenetwork.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,183/catid,5/func,view/id,148249/#148335.)

The new column should indicate the language(s). It should have one of three values:
Subtitled, Dubbed, or +Dub. (Use the latter to mean that the whole series is available online subtitled but the new episodes are dubbed in English.)

I would like to suggest that you get The original fist of the north star dubbed. I know they have it because I watched the original dubbed version in the 80’s on HBO when I was younger. I’m sure that it’s very difficult to get. This is evident because of the fact that every site that I’m a member of that has it doesn’t have it in it’s dubbed form. Please check into it, Thanks, Queenisis1.

That show belongs to Funimation, so you’d have to talk to them about it.

Actually, you’re thinking of DiscoTek. Also, only about 36 episodes of the show were dubbed by Manga. That’s why most streaming sites only show the Japanese version. DiscoTek’s first box set does have all the dubbed episodes though. The rest of the episodes on DVD are Japanese language with English subs.

Ugh. That company. The “voldemort” of modern anime companies as it should not be named.

They’ve got a variation of the Midas Touch-every title that they get their hands on gets a low-quality release that is indistinguishable from a bootleg. Nothing that I have seen from them impresses me, whether it be their products, their PR or their personnel.
