Naruto / Naruto Shippūden / Boruto

Yesterday’s episode was one of the weaker ones in a while. Still far superior to the filler-fest of the first season so I’m sure all of us will take what we can get.

However, to me the episode can be summed up in one word: Tease! :P[/quote]

There is a lot of that in Shippuden.[/quote]

It wouldn’t be so aggravating (in a good way) if the series wasn’t interesting. If it was a boring or bad show, I’d have dropped it - but in this case I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Just a warning there are filler arcs in Shippuden but they didn’t bug me. The die hards foamed at the mouth every time though.

I didn’t foam, I just skipped them.

You know, as much as I’m enjoying Shippuden and the music at first was breathtaking in the first episodes given the jump in quality and sounding real. Over these last few episodes it feels like the soundtrack doesn’t have much diversity or tracks, they keep using the same background tracks over and over, and they are nowhere as memorable as the themes in the original series. It feels a lot more filmic and background music now.

Last week and this week’s episode really feel like they are stretching 2-4 episodes from 1… talk about getting nowhere. Also last night’s episode might be one of the episodes with the most staring at each other and not doing anything I can remember in an anime in a while.

I agree, and remember last week I told you (Dragoon) that what happened could easily have fit into three minutes?

[details=spoiler]I’m sure that Guy’s team are s-l-o-w-l-y working toward victory; Lee mentioned it was like fighting himself with in a mirror, so I’m sure that’s a clue. Maybe they should try getting closer to each other. Obviously they can’t try to surprise their mirror-images. But perhaps other teammates can.

How long will Naruto & Kakashi stare at Deidara flying around? I mean, how productive is that anyway? It just pisses Naruto off. I know at the end that Kakashi was going to uncover his eye…

And then there’s Sakura and Chiyo inside with Sasori, at least there’s some action in there. But, holy cow, did you see Sasori’s body? All of Chiyo’s thingy-bobs bounced right off. Could maybe Sakura’s punch blow him apart? She’s have to get close to him first…[/details]

Just musing to myself.

As much as I love some of the elements of Shippuden, and the awesome characters … wow these last string of episodes is getting really slooooooow. It just feels like the last 4-5 episodes now really should be 1. Lots of more of the same and nothing happening. Naruto hasn’t even really done any cool new moves, yet… this many episodes in.

On the plus side, as disappointing as the pace and movement is, the show always ends well before I want it to and I continue wanting more. Really wish they’d offer 2 eps a week. I’m almost tempted to contact someone at Disney or Viz about it.

I think you will enjoy the Sasori vs. Chiyo & Sakura fight as it heats up. Its one of the best fights in the series.

The fight so far is pretty cool. The rest of the stuff and the fight itself feels like it has gone on for ages though. Like Naruto and Kakashi keep chasing and chasing and chasing for what 20 episodes now? (I know it’s not that long, but it’s close :P)

As much as I enjoy the series, so far the climactic moments haven’t approached anywhere the heights of the original Naruto - just thinking about all those moments like when Orochimaru appeared, the climactic Leaf Village tournaments and the battle between Orochimaru and the Hokage, the lead up and including the Naruto and Sasuke fights… nothing in Shippuden or post Naruto/Sasuke has come close so far. I keep hoping.

Still, it’s certainly been a fun show to tune into every week. I just hope things move along some more soon.

Disappointed that Disney showed the ED1 song early on but has since switched to edited/super short version. Credits keep getting the shaft on TV everywhere. :stuck_out_tongue: Ah well, at least the OP remains (which continues to still be a favorite of mine).

I almost forgot about this…

[details=spoiler]So Naruto and Kakashi keep chasing Deidara as he leads them further and further away from the cave where the others are. Deidara keeps mentioning how low he is on clay, even though he keeps scooping it out and using it, trying to separate Naruto & Kakashi. Kakashi mentioned that soon they’ll be out of range of the radio transmitters for Team Guy. Like Dragoon, I wonder how many episodes this will go on for, I suppose until the women finish their fight.

Team Guy are still fighting with their clones and getting nowhere fast. I still think they should work their way towards each other. I think there would be strength in numbers.

Meanwhile, back in the cave, Chiyo & Sakura fight Sasori (in his cute little boy form). Sasori uses his puppet of the Third Kazekage, and Chiyo uses the puppets of Sasori’s parents, Mother & Father. After Sakura saves herself from the poison gas with an explosion scroll, the three puppets battle it out and all take damage.

Then, Sasori makes an unexpected move and has the Third release “Iron Sand” at Chiyo and Sakura. I can only assume that this is bad.[/details]

I really wish that there was only one commercial break because I really, REALLY hate the ads they have. Also, it’s like they can’t figure out the demographics for their audience, or maybe it’s just my area. Toy commercial, toy commercial, fast food, toy commerical, AARP <WHAT?>…

Looks like next week we get two episodes.

Good news! I’d kiss Viz and Disney if they made it permanent. (Well maybe not that far. :P)

ShawnMerrow is correct!

Bad news, DVR just shows one episode at the normal time for the next two Wednesdays.

Yeah, I just DVR scheduled it after the last pair of episodes. :frowning: Want more.

Such a cliffhanger this week too, and the fight is certainly having its moments… but still a bit slow I think. The fights don’t feel as epic as the big fights in the first half of Naruto. I keep waiting for that defining moment in Shippuden when Naruto starts to kick ass, so far, he seems like he hasn’t developed as much as the others (though I’m sure he has and we’re just being teased until some more climactic moment later on).

Eps 23 & 24

[details=spoiler]So, The Third Kazekage (who apparently has no other name), releases the Iron Sand, Sasori has made this puppet in a special way, so that it retains the chakra it’s body had when it was alive. What a neat trick. The sands speeds toward Chiyo and Sakura and Chiyo directs the ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ puppets to protect them. Sakura and the ‘Mother’ puppet leap away; but Chiyo is in direct line and the ‘Father’ puppet is rendered useless by the Iron Sand when it seeps into its mechanisms.

Sasori then renders the ‘Mother’ puppet useless. He then sends the Iron Sand at Chiyo again and we discover that her right hand is artificial and is now useless as the Iron Sand creeps into it. She discards this arm.

Chiyo has a flashback to when Sasori was born and how his parents loved him, but then they were killed. She then took care of him and taught him how to make and use puppets; he then made puppet-duplicates of his parents, to hold him and sleep with him, to “love” him.

Sakura then offers to be a ‘human puppet’ for Chiyo, saying that the Iron Sand won’t hurt her in the same way. So Sakura attempts to get close to Sasori.

Sasori then forms the Iron Sand into a solid pyramid and a long I-beam. He sends these at Sakura, who punches them right back at him. This irritates Sasori to no end. And he keeps sending the sand objects at her, she avoids them with Chiyo’s help and then sends them back at him. After several hits, the lair starts to cave in. Every time Sakura punches one of the sand object, a little more of the lair collapses around them.

Meanwhile, Naruto & Kakashi are STILL pursuing Deidara who is leading them away from the lair. Deidara is STILL mentioning how he is low on clay, but he is STILL making little clay beings and dropping them down, trying to split up Naruto and Kakashi and failing. Kakashi has come up with a plan, but he has to catch up with Naruto first. He hears the explosions coming from back at the lair, but he’s also out of communications range, so he has no way of finding out what’s happening. Just then, Deidara speeds up and so does Naruto… getting further away from Kakashi.

And then there’s Team Guy… STILL fighting with themselves. They, too, hear the explosions and Neji is able to ‘see’ that the lair is collapsing.

Back inside the lair, Sasori is really agitated that Sakura keeps returning fire. So he turns the Iron Sand into sharp spikes and sends them at Sakura. After the dust clears, Chiyo is partially trapped under some rubble and is shocked to see Sakura on her hands and knees surrounded by spikes of Iron Sand, holding her arm. Sasori laughs, knowing that his spikes were laced with his poison and that Sakura has been injected with it.

Sasori decides to stop playing with Sakura and end it. He could leave her and she would die in three days from the poison, but he’d rather just kill her and get it over with. He attacks her with the Third Kazekage puppet and is stunned to find that Sakura is apparently immune to the poison and was faking being poisoned. She stands and punches the Third Kazekage puppet, destroying it.

All in all, the Sakura/Chiyo/Sasori battle is ok. Nothing I want to write home about. Chiyo now only has one arm and they’ve only faced just the one enemy, who they haven’t even defeated yet. I have this feeling that she’s not going to be around much longer.

I also have the feeling that something stupid is going to happen with Team Guy that will help them defeat their clones, but I don’t know what it is.[/details]

So, even though we got TWO episodes, I was still disappointed at the fact that Team Guy made absolutely no forward motion in their battles. Naruto & Kakashi made no headway in their pursuit of Gaara’s body.

Obviously, we have to wait until the battle is over in the lair.

Spoiler on edit to ep. 24.

If I remember correctly they edited out a cut Sakura got. When she clutched her arm before pretending to collapse there should have been blood on her arm.

Huh? So the fight really begins now? Not a whole lot of time to spare either, heh.

I do like this battle quite a lot, but it still feels overly, overly stretched. Naruto, the main character, continues to be underdeveloped in storyline and capability so far… :frowning:

Don’t worry. You will get a Naruto overload in the coming episodes.

That’s good to hear. How far into Shippuden are you?
