Shows Expiring Soon from the Online Player
I was wondering something about the series that are expiring (and those which are already gone) : I’m aware that the reason for retiring series is to “make place” for new shows, but are those series completely gone from the AN library?

For example: since the beginning of the year, there have been a few older series that were given another run on the VOD service. However, all of these reruns (and those announced for April) are still availlable on the online player. If a show is withdrawn from the online playlist, does the withdrawal also apply to VOD or it might still be availlable for a possible rerun?
As stated in the first post “*Some of these shows may be renewed or brought back at a later date.**”

I think it depends on whether the license truely expires or not.
Such as, those set to expire over the next month were all from a license deal with Enoki Films USA, so those are probably gone for good.

Then, there’s also the different licenses.
Digital and TV (or VOD in this case) are two different licenses, which would also determine whether we’d see them here on the site, on VOD, or both.

I took note to add some comments as to status.

If I were people I’d focus on Koi Koi Seven and Izumo. Since they have never had a home media release here.

I finished Koi Koi Seven this morning. Not bad ,but the ending was rather  .

Just watched Izumo last night. Glad I caught while I could, though I see what I hadn’t watched it before too.

The ending of Koi Koi Seven is the way it is because they ran out of episodes to cover the manga.

At what time of day do the episodes expire on April 15th?

A: 2011-04-15 00:00 GMT = Thursday, April 14, at 7:00pm CDT; 5:00pm PDT.
B: 2011-04-15 00:00 CDT = start of Friday in Texas; Thursday at 10:00pm in California.
C: 2011-04-15 23:59 CDT = end of Friday in Texas; Friday at 9:59pm in California.
D: Manual expiration - it will happen when it happens.

The answer is (always) B.

Unless otherwise noted, video releases and expirations are always at Midnight (Central Time).

I was making my way through more episodes of Super GALS! tonight, but when I hit episode 32, I noticed it was already MIA.

Unless there is a reason for episode 32 already being gone, it would be nice to have it restored before it goes away for good, especially as I have already viewed the other episodes that would be on that same DVD.

Babel II and Demon Lord Dante show on Hulu as not expiring until 11/30/2011. Is that an error, or is someone other than The Anime Network providing those to Hulu?

Reported to Admin.

I had assumed that when it was stated shows would expire on April 15, that we would actually be able to view them until on April 15. Instead, I went to the Super GALS! page to find only the first 26 episodes, and an untitled 27th episode that gives a region error when an attempt is made to play. Checking the other 3 titles that were set to expire today, I see those have a single untitled episode.

Should we also assume the titles listed as expiring on April 22 will also disappear before early morning that same day?

It appears they are expiring at 12:00am the early morning instead of 11:59pm the night of.

I noticed it with the stuff from the 13th I just did not think anything of it to now.

Not sure if this is a overzealous person taking them down early , a confusion , or they should be read as 11:59 the day before they actually are. Like today’s stuff should have read 11:59 pm CST the 14th.

I’m sure slowhand is getting to the bottom of this though.

Shows expire at Midnight CT start of Friday in Texas; Thursday at 10:00pm in California

So, if you’re on Eastern Time, that would be 11pm on Thursday.

Episode 32 was too corrupted to save.

Babel II and Demon Lord Dante on Hulu are from another provider.

Sorry that took so long to answer.

Shouldn’t the deadline date for these shows be moved up a day then?

After all, if you survey 10 people on what “Deadline: April 15, 2011” means, I would wager good money at least 9 would say it means that the last day to take action (watch an episode, pay a bill, enter a contest) is the deadline date, not the day before.

Changed “Expires on: Friday, April 22” to “Available through: Thursday, April 21”.
Shows are removed at the end of Thursday, at midnight Central time (10:00pm Pacific time).

Uh, no, Slowhand. Midnight CT is 1:00 AM ET, so in your example, Midnight CT Friday is 1:00 AM ET Friday.

Azumanga Daioh is in the process of being renewed. It has been temporarily removed from the online player.
Also Parasite Dolls.

I haven’t been paying too close attention to what’s on/not on the Online Player recently, so I didn’t notice this until tonight.
But did Clannad ~After Story~ expire from the Online Player recently?
Or is this just a bug.

Should be fixed now. Go on give it a go.

Ahh, so it was a bug after all.
I thought it might be since we hadn’t heard anything about it expiring, but I wasn’t sure.
I guess when I run across things like this in the future, I should probably post it in the Online Player thread, since 99% of the time, it’s just an odd bug.
