We finally get to see a very brief glimpse of the Discovery in action. The design changes they’ve made are definitely for the best, though I was never as critical of the design as others.
The trailers so far have looked good and the show has a very good cast lined up. It will also be nice to see a little real drama injected into a Trek TV show. The fact that main characters were almost never really at risk could often ruin any sense of peril that might occur. You always knew that the heroes would come out alive at the end of the day.
Hopefully, any deaths will be handled better than in the past and will actually play an important part in the plot. Previous character deaths were usually the result of actors wanting to pursue other projects, and were hastily inserted and poorly written.
Train Wreck avoided … for now.

Perhaps CBS could get Scott Bakula to take a brief time-out from filming their NCIS: New Orleans to make a cameo in Discovery?
That way, if the disaster does happen, we can recycle all of the Enterprise memes to cover it?
