Jessica sat down trying to get the taste out of her mouth. “What the hell is wrong with these people? I just…killed another man! Damn it! But they don’t seem to care at all!” She looked over each person and they seemed to be going about their business.

Jack came in and said to stop killing the Redshirt. “They have been killing guys in red shirts? What the hell?” Then a young girl appeared in a very unusual costume.

Jessica listened in and watched the girl sit down next to Red’s dissolving body. Jessica slowly got up, “Okay, why is his body dissolving?”

Jack shrugged, “Unlike me, he gets a new one. Sometimes I think he is a lucky bastard for that, but he just keeps getting killed for the weirdest reasons.”

“What?” Jessica was not following. A woman with purple hair, an ornate helmet, and no scent popped up right next to her.

In a voice that seemed to sing, “Sorry for using you like that. I am glad that it seemed to get results.”

Jessica jumped to the ceiling and nearly stayed there, “*%)#”

Eric called out, “Watch your language, there are ladies present. Crescendo, don’t just pop up next to new people. Why did you do that to Red?”

Cres gave Eric a small smile which Jessica saw slightly gave him pause. Cres however did point at Fumika, who was glaring at her.

Jessica came back down and stared at the new woman with no scent. Somehow, she knew the woman couldn’t be touched. Something about her was very odd. Tyler came up to her and was about to say something when a strong scent got her attention.

A hand grab the base of her neck in an odd fashion. She didn’t jump this time, but simply said, “Okay, explain to me how you are grabbing my neck right now when you just dissolved five minutes ago.”

Redshirt1 simply said, “Damn, it doesn’t work on vampires.” He let go. Jessica turned to face him, but instantly got a bit dizzy. “Correction, it only somewhat works on vampires.”

Redshirt1 left the dizzy Jessica and walked to Crescendo. She knew he was not happy in the very least, but all she did was point to a girl in a uniform. One he knew. “Oh, hey Fumika.” If looks could kill, he might not have returned after that one.

She simply handed him the letter and vanished. Jack came up to Redshirt1 and said, “I have some questions to ask of you, but first what is in that letter.”

Redshirt1 couldn’t remember what occurred during his time away from life. However, it seemed what was approaching warranted a drastic response. He opened the letter and started to read. “Oh, this is not good…”

Cody wakes up as waves gently caress his hand. He can feel damp sand under his back and warm sunlight cascades down onto this face. He pulls himself up and rubs his eyes. Where is he? The last thing he can remember is falling asleep on a jet next to Tessa.

As his surroundings come into focus, he is greeted by a familiar dark sanded. “Oh great, this place,” he says to himself. “I must be dead.” He shakes his head. “I knew I shouldn’t have let Tessa pilot.”

A gentle and warm laugh comes from behind him. “Don’t worry, you’re not dead yet.”

Cody turns around and is greeted by the sight of his mother. He smiles at her as the sunlight glistens in her hair. “Well, I guess that’s good to know. But I probably shouldn’t stay here too long, just in case.”

His mother sits down next to him. He can see a hint of sadness hiding behind her kind smile. He remembers that expression; the one where she was trying to be strong. She needed to tell him something very important, something she knew would upset him.

“What’s wrong?” Cody asks as the smiles leaves his face.

She lifts a hand a strokes his hair gently. “I just don’t have much time and there is so much to tell you.”

“About what?” he asks. “You said before there were things you couldn’t tell me.”

“I know.” She sighs. “I’m not suppose to. But time is running so short, I don’t have any choice.” Her eyes begin to well up and she moves her hand to Cody’s cheek. “You have such a horrible price to pay for something our family did centuries ago.”

A confused looks comes over his face. “What are you talking about? What price?”

His mother’s smiles finally fails as tears roll freely down her face. “I’m so sorry. If I had known then, I would have killed your father myself.”

Cody’s expression grows cold. “You shouldn’t say that. You couldn’t have known what he was going to do.”

“I should have protected you. Then none of this would be happening now.” She pulls her hand back and begins crying uncontrollably into her hands.

Cody wraps an arm around her and hugs her. “It’s alright. It’s not your fault.”

She looks up at him. As she speaks through tears, his face grows pale and his arm falls to the ground. “Yes, yes it. Because of my mistakes, because of my family, you’re going to kill them. You’ll kill them all.”

Jack’s eyes grow wide as he looks down at the read out on the small tablet computer in his hand. The read out indicates less than sixty seconds until the projectiles hit. “Everyone get down NOW!” he screams.

Looking around panicked, everyone quickly follows his advice. Eric throws Himeno to the ground and quickly covers her with his body. Despite the slight pain and danger, she doesn’t find the experience entirely unpleasant and can’t help but blush a bit.

Wicca kneels on the ground taking cover near a wall, instructing Lucy to do the same. It’s take a few seconds and a tug on the arm, by the young girl finally gets the idea. With a “Nyu” she ducks next to Wicca and covers her head.

Confused by the situation, Jessica shakes her head. “What the hell is going on?”

Jack glares at her. “I said GET DOWN! NOW DO IT!”

Jessica bares her fangs, but as she looks at the coldness in Jack’ eyes, she acquiesces and takes cover with the rest.

Huddled next to Roy, Slowhand looks over to the Captain, who is still standing near a window. “Jack, what are you doing?”

“Don’t worry,” he assures her. “I"ll be fine.”

Knowing that he is probably correct, Slow covers her head once ans Roy pulls her close to his body. Even in the musty air of the basement, he still smells good. Damn good.

Jack looks again at the computer. “Thirty seconds,” he says, almost whispering. He didn’t know what was coming, but he knew it was dangerous. He looked back at those huddled on the floor. As old and strong as this building was, he didn’t know if it would be enough to protect them. He just prayed it would be enough.

“Fifteen seconds,” he said even softer. He hoped wherever Cody was that he was clear of the danger. He should be in the air by now and heading far away. Jack desperately hoped that would be enough to save him.

Jack looked down at the phone sticking out of his pocket. He should have remembered that earlier. He could have called Cody, if nothing else than to make sure he was okay. He can’t help but laugh to himself. If he had done that, that jet would have been turned around immediately, regardless of the danger. Perhaps it was best he didn’t call. He just hoped there was time for phone calls and conversations later. “Ten.”

Jack swallows nervously. “9…8…7…6…” The ground begins to shake gently at first, then more violently. “5…4…3…” The lights begin to flicker on and off, before failig altogether. “2…1…” A loud crash is heard outside and a cloud of dust blows out from the impact site. The windows to the basement explode inward, throwing Jack to the floor and blasting shards off glass and dust everywhere.

The ground shakes once more very violently. As it stops, everyone begins to stand up and look around. Through the cloudy, partially dust concealed sunlight, they can see Jack’s lifeless body on the ground. Two shards of glass are in his throat, with one his face. A large pool of blood surrounds him on the floor.

Slowhand cries out and runs over to his body. She checks for his pulse as she looks into his glossy, dead eyes. “He’s gone,” she says. She looks around at the rest of the room, visibly skaken.

As Lucy attempts to rise up, Wicca quickly covers her eyes, so she doesn’t see the sight of the dead Captain. “No honey,” she says. “You can’t look. Not yet.” She hopes that Jack comes around soon.

“So, is that it?” Eric says as he stands up and helps Himeno to her feet.

Pretear looks around and coughs in the dusty air. “God, I hope so, but it never works out that way.”

“No it doesn’t,” says Tyler as he pulls a large blade of glass from his arm. He groans loudly as it tears his flesh.

“So what now?” asks Hawkeye, brushing a dirty strand of her golden hair out of her face.

Mireille and Kirika walk through the airport. Stretching their legs feels good after the long flight across the Atlantic. After the strange events of the past few weeks, they are both quite glad to be home in Pariz, though the younger of the duo would never admit it.

“So, what do you want to do first? Want to grab some food? I’m starved.” Mireille suggests.

Kirika nods in agreement. “It was a long flight.”

“Yes, yes it was,” the blond agrees. “Some nice wine and a warm meal would be perfect right now. So what are you in the mood for? French, Italian, American?”

Kirika thinks for a moment. “Pizza. Pizza and ice cream.”

“Pizza… ice cream?” Mireille repeats. “And wine?” She pauses for a moment. “Yeah, I think I can work with that. I think my stomach will pay for it in the morning, but it doesn’t sound half bad.”

Kirika stops for a moment. She turns her head slightly, then continues walking. “We’re being followed,” she whispers.

“I know,” her partner replies. “Three of them, maybe a fourth. Two directly behind us and there is one at four o’clock.”

Kirika nods. “How do you want to handle them?”

“We need to get out of the airport first. I don’t think they will risk opening fire in this crowd. There is too much security and too many cameras.”

The younger girl nods again. “Alright. I’ll see if I can lead those two off and draw some of their fire once we get outside.”

Mireille nods. “Alright, then that leaves me with creepster over there. There will probably be more waiting outside or on their way in. Once these guys are taken down, we need to get in a car quickly and get moving.”

“Agreed.”

As the two approach the entrance, they speed up their gait, almost running. The men following them quickly match their speed and begin pursuing their targets more openly. The two women jump over luggage and nearly knock people over as they bolt towards the entrance.

“Once we’re through the door,” Mireille orders. “You go right! Got it?” Her companion simply nods as they run through the automatic doors as they slide open. Two gun shots sound out as bullets fly past them, striking and breaking the glass.

Kirika quickly breaks off to the right, with the two men hot on her trail. As they clear the door, they begin firing more openly. Men and women in the crowd scream out in terror and take cover, dodging the hot slugs.

Kirika runs down the sidewalk and does a back-flip over the hood of a parked mini-van. Using it as cover, she pulls a small plastic pistol out of her pocket and begins firing at her assailants. Almost immediately she takes down the closet man. His partner continues running towards her as the other assailant lays on the ground groping at his wounds. The other man continues firing off rounds as Kirika takes cover behind the vehicle again. She hears a lout pop as a bullet strikes one of the tires, flattening it.

Running the opposite direction, Mireille zig-zags attemtping to avoid the fire. She glances at the terrified faces surrounding her and can’t help but feel a little guilty. She can’t believe anyone would be brazen enough to come after her and Kirika in public. She would have never intentionally endangered this many innocent people. “Unless they were Tea Baggers of course,” she thought to herself.

Mireille’s left ear stings and her hair tussles as a bullet zips inches past her face. Taking advantage of her surroundings, she quickly jumps behind a full luggage cart. Using it as cover, she begins firing back at the man chasing her. “There is only one,” she thinks to herself. “There have to be more on the way. I have to get this jack ass taken care of quick.”

As bullets hit the luggage embedding themselves in stuffing, lining and clothes, Mireille ducks behind them and takes a deep breath. The guy is getting close and she can’t afford to miss. She checks her gun. Ready to go. “I can do this.”

Turning back around Mireille fires off one bullet, nailing the man directly in the chest. A hole burns throug his dark suit as the slug enters his body and blasts a large hole through his back. He falls to the ground, gasping for air. After a few seconds, his body stops moving.

Turning her attention to a mode of transportation, Mireille spots an open cab. The family that was about to enter it was to busy ducking for cover, so she takes advantage of the situation. She quickly jumps in the cab and slams the door shut.

As the door closes loudly, the cab driver sits upright in her seat. She looks in the mirror and quickly spots Mireille’s gun. “Okay, just let me get out and you can have the car and the money,” she says frightened.

“I don’t need the money,” Mireille barks. “I just need you to drive. Turn the car around now!”

The woman hesitates for moment. The assassin notices her name on the card on the dash. “Froggy!” she yells. “I said turn the car around now!”

“Okay,” she says as a tear begins to run down her face. Froggy quickly drops the car into reverse and does a quick u-turn in the small Opel. She then pops it into drive and begins flying down the street towards Mireille’s partner.

The French woman looks out the back of the car. She sees two black Range Rovers speeding towards them. They won’t have much time.

Moments before impact…

Jack looks at his screen and says, “Red, what the hell does it say?”

Red looks at Jack and his face makes feel almost sorry for him. “Sorry Captain, I don’t know, I forgot what language I wrote it in. It might be Romulan or Vulcan?”

Jack slightly cursed to himself. He doesn’t know either of the languages. He takes another glance, “That’s Diclonian.” He didn’t know that one either, but he also made a note he really needed to talk to Red.

The counter was getting closer.

“Oh, RIGHT! Uh, something about Fallen Angles, not sure, not sure, OH! .6 kilometer dead zone on impact, 5 kilometer high damage radius. How close is the one going to near us?”

Jack jumps up, knocking Red down. “Everyone DUCK!”…

Elsewhere…

“Get the trucks ready now. We have little time.” Nina felt the pressure as if it were water slowing trying to suffocate her. She was ordered to bring the Whispered and Redshirt1 to the director. Now, the fallen angels under the control of an outside force of Section 23 threatened to stop her mission. “It Must Not Be Allowed.” She thought to herself.

She looked as the two Chinese twins boarded a special truck that would carry the elite Venom Arm Slave to the target area. They would capture the whispered known as Wicca. Supporting them would be two full squads of foot soldiers. The assassins know how to fight a wide variety of foes, including vampires. Mani, with her two auto arm slaves, and a full squad of foot soldiers will go for Redshirt1. He should be far easier to catch, yet it still disturbed Nina slightly why the director wanted him.

Still, before the troops should have been more than enough to deal with the situation. Now, the fallen angels could cause serious damage to their numbers. The foot soldiers would not be a match against them. The twins and Mani should fair well, but any delay could mean the objectives would slip away again.

“Wait, Mani is just needed to pinpoint their location. She is not needed to obtain them.” Slowly an idea crossed her mind. She walked over to the young woman, who was older than she looked.

“Mani, once you find Red and his friends, I got a reward for you. How would you like to finish plucking some angel wings?”

If Nina hadn’t braced herself, Mani’s smile would have frozen her soul. The other truck’s engines roared to life…

“Pucchan here, go ahead.” Rino looked at Pucchan with a bit of fear. He did not like getting disrupted during his ‘play’ time. He always tended to get a bit rougher after being so. Yet, Pucchan didn’t seemed annoyed this time. He just looked at the screen even as she slightly struggled against the chains.

Only a voice responded, “Sir, Tessa has been reported heading to Texas. We will have the exact location soon. Also, the prophets report there is one with her. Something about a darkness soon is causing them to be uneasy. They recommend he dies.”

“Fine, Fine, send Shadycat. The Devil Hunter can easily handle Tessa, and she will have a few moves for anything that has darkness in it.”

Rino spoke, “Shadycat? The one whose friend you are holding…OWW!”

Pucchan had her yank on one certain chain, “Rino, keep that dumb flap of yours closed unless you have something worth saying.” He faced the screen again. “Though do remind Shadycat the results of failure.”

“Understood.” The screen went black.

“Now, where were we?” Pucchan asked with smirking smile crossing his face. Rino squirmed as much as she could as she moved him closer to her…

“It is in your blood, Shadycat. Generations of Devil Hunters before have passed their powers to you. You will be able to face the darkness the day it rises.”

Shadycat looked at her grandmother and smiled. Training had been very hard that day, sweat glistened all over her body that was slightly sagging holding the various weapons up. However, all the targets were destroyed, and her skill had only become more obvious. “Let’s just hope that day is far away, shall we Grandma?”

She heard the phone ring. It was not her personal phone, nor her grandmother’s. It was that phone. She froze for a second, the feeling of pain so near her heart caused to freeze, but she reigned in her emotions and ran to the ringing sound. On the screen, a picture of Froggy smiling at her nearly brought her to tears. She picked it up, and pressed the accept button.

The instructions were very clear. “Damn those bastards, Damn them to Hell!” She thought. How they ever found out her connection to Froggy she will never know, but they have used that information well.

“Grandma, darkness may be rising sooner than we thought. Sadly, I think I am now part of it…”

YemeniLuigi watched as the two women jumped into Froggy’s cab. Bullets were flying everywhere. Not only could he sees this, but in a way taste and feel it. “Oh Shit! If she gets killed without his orders…”

Rino had passed out. Pucchan looked over her and said, “I so need to toughen you up more, kid.” He shook himself violently, “Damn, what I should do is dump you and find someone better.” The screen nearby lit up. “Whaaatt Now!” He activated the screen and saw the message. He simply typed back, “Froggy does not die unless I order it. Follow and protect her until I give the order that she dies. Do not fail me.”
