After about a year and half of maintaining this blog, as well as 4 years of helping Anime Network in various capacities with services, viewer relations, consulting and general assistance as a fan - in addition to the the last few weeks of not having the time that I would like to dedicate to this blog, which I once had - it is time for change. I’ve decided to retire my blog and coverage of Section23 Films, Sentai Filmworks, Anime Network and the various companies so that I can pursue new personal and professional opportunities.
When I first started this blog (previously ADV Nation), the various companies were in a certain phase of silence, and I thought that a lot of fans would like to know about developments and news that was taking place. There were some stories that I felt I could report on that would be of interest to the fans. Today, as the companies emerge and are now engaging the fans in various capacities, I feel more comfortable that this is the right time and place for me to change gears. In particular, Sentai Filmworks, Section23 Films are opening themselves up to the world of social networking and in the near future will have new methods of contact and engagement that should satisfy their fans. Stay tuned, 2010 will be a great year for Section23 Films, Sentai Filmworks, Anime Network and Seraphim Digital.
The chance to cover and exchange thoughts with many in the industry at various levels has been a fun and interesting experience. I never thought I would have had this opportunity as I still see myself intrinsically as just another anime fan. It’s been an experience I won’t forget.
Thanks to all the readers for reading, the words of encouragement, and your valuable communication here and on twitter since this blog’s inception.
He probably hasn’t had the chance to get online service yet. I’m sure he’ll pop in when he has the time. But he did warn us that it might take a couple of months.
When/If he comes back I am not sure he will be doing the blog anymore. Way it was sounding he may as slow said be a few months or more. I’m sure we all know what its like moving and throw in a new job it takes longer then we’d like since got to think of things like eating before getting Cable and Internet.
I’m hoping he comes back sooner then later as I’ve got no one to chat with about the things him and me did chat about. Slowhand tries ,but no offense to her she’s no Dragoon.
But yeah it’s very sad and boring without Dragoon. Anime just isn’t as fun or interesting without Dragoon around. I miss hearing what he has to say on news, neo-ADV, the industry, random things, and what he’s watching etc. It’s much quieter without him .
Yeah, it just isn’t the same around here or other sites without Dragoon. And like PP said, when he does come back, it’s likely he may not be doing the blog. He’s grown pretty tired of the overall negativity of a large part of the fan base, and the constant arguing, whining and complaining (and he’s not the only one.)
Dragoon had actually approached me about becoming an editor on his site while he was away, so I think he really wanted to keep it going. Unfortunately, I lack the necessary code knowledge to do so.
I will miss him as well. I hope he comes back soon!
I am going to miss him as well. It is rare to meet an intellectual, casual, fun, sharp, and an anime man like him on the webs. I hope he comes back soon.
Oh no!!! Work travel takes me of the site for a couple weeks, and now I missed my chance to say goodbye to Dragoon! Well, Dragoon will truly be missed. I always enjoyed his posts, his extensive anime knowledge, and his optimistic, yet realistic view of the anime industry. I also really enjoyed his blog.
Dragoon, I wish you success in whatever adventures you choose in life. Take care of yourself and come back soon!
Aww man … i never got a chance to say goodbye.
we had some good times during the Akimbo days. I hope all of what your after finds you well bud. Please drop by and say hi, even if it’s just as a fan.
College life takes you away from the things you enjoy and when you return, things aren’t always the same huh?
I can understand though sometimes people just need a break from things, hopefully Dragoon shows up again even if it’s just from a fan perspective as I always did enjoy his words of wisdom, in fact I can’t even think about these forums without his name popping up in my head, like the forums were built around him.
If only I had more time to visit the forums, maybe I will after I graduate in the spring, and maybe then Dragoon will be floating around again i’d certainly like to discuss some of the recent exciting developments going on around here!
Definitely have missed the forum and the anime discussions. I’ve missed so much though, it’s going to be a monster to catch up with all the anime on TV and Anime Network that I’ve missed in the past few weeks and the coming weeks.
