To Love Ru

S1/Ep 2

Rito wakes up next to his naked “fiancée” and falls out of the bed in shock! Worse, his sister walks into the room. She takes one good look, apologizes, and leaves, slamming the door. Rito is sure he’ll never be able to explain. Too late, Peke dresses Lala.

Lala explains she’s there because they’re engaged and it is an Earth custom after all. Peke agrees with Lala’s assessment, but Rito tries to explain that isn’t the situation. However, one look at Lala’s tear-filled eyes and he backs off, leaving Lala to declare that the wedding is still on!

Rito tries to explain again, saying that he doesn’t remember proposing to her, but Zastin comes through the window to explain things to Rito. I love this alien! Standing on Rito’s bed in full armor, he proceeds to apologize to Rito for their previous meeting, not realizing he was Lala’s betrothed. Rito is sure he isn’t really sorry and the guy won’t even take his boots off! He says that Rito’s proposal was “traditionally Deviluke”.

Apparently, Rito’s confession to Haruna was not a proposal of marriage to Lala. Nope, his proposal happened before that. Back when Lala first appeared in Rito’s tub and he found himself with his hands on her breasts, and looking into her eyes – that was the proposal! But did Rito really say he loved her? Rito is just more confused, as Zastin tells him that it was a perfectly proper engagement ceremony. Rito just looks like a deer caught in the headlights! LOL

Once again, Rito tries to explain, but Zastin tells him that if it was a misunderstanding and he fondled Lala’s chest without being in love with her, well in that case, he just declared war on Planet Deviluke! He draws his sword and points it at Rito. As Zastin tells Rito about his king, Rito whimpers that it was an accident. Zastin is not pleased and tells Rito that his king would destroy Earth. What can Rito do to get out of this situation? Either choice is awful to him.

Lala steps in and grabs Rito, saying that he isn’t that irresponsible. Rito looks ready to pull out his hair as Lala tells Zastin not to worry as Rito truly loves her. More good news. Zastin tells Rito that by marrying Lala, he will become the heir to the throne and will one day rule over a multitude of planets. He tells Rito that a mere weakling won’t be able to handle it. Will Rito’s nightmare ever end?

Lala tells him that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Rito wants to explain again, but his sister calls out that he is going to be late for school. Lala seems puzzled by this word. Rito is later seen walking through the school’s hallway and his friend mentions how miserable he looks. Well, sure – the fate of the Earth is in his hands!

He wants to say something, but Haruna is walking towards him. She averts her eyes and walks right past him. This only depresses Rito more. While he’s in class he thinks about his situation and refers to Lala as “the pain from outer space”. Good one Rito! But his thoughts turn to Haruna and why she seems to be mad at him. He really wants to clear things up with her, but how?

He follows her after class, all the way to the locker room. Knowing he can’t go in, he waits in the hallway for her to come out. However, a commotion catches his attention. Just great, Lala is there looking for him and making a spectacle of herself as all the boys wonder who the cute girl is. And that outfit!! Is it a costume? The boys watch her with hearts in their eyes. Love at first sight!

Rito grabs her and demands to know why she’s there. She was just curious about the “whole school thing”. The surrounding boys want to know who she is and as Rito thinks of something to say, Lala tells everyone that she is his “bride to be”. Great reaction from one and all, including Rito!

Now all the boys are mad at him as Rito sputters to explain. Not happening, as Lala just makes things worse. LOL So much for Haruna. Poor Rito. All he can do is grab Lala and run as the angry mob chases him. He still wants to just talk to Haruna, but it looks like this won’t be a good time.

Meanwhile, Haruna seems very down. She wonders if Rito’s confession might have been meant for her. And who was that “strange girl”? At the moment, Rito and the “strange girl” have hit a dead end. As the mob closes in, Rito tells Lala to warp them! As they disappear, they leave behind the group of stunned boys – and Rito’s clothes. Rito’s friend wondered what happened to them.

Rito and Lala end up naked and falling out of a locker. And – dare I say it? – of course they fall right in front of Haruna! Haruna is shocked, but Rito must have forgotten that he’s naked because he gets up and approaches Haruna to explain. Haruna’s reaction? Why, when approached by a naked boy, you slap him of course! LOL

Rito is home, dressed and depressed, with a slap mark on his face, and Lala clinging to his arm. He finds his sister calmly having tea with none other than Zastin! Can this awful day get any worse? Worse yet, his sister is totally cool with her brother marrying an alien princess. Once again, Rito tries to explain (just give up already!), but his sister and Lala are too busy bonding. Zastin smiles as he sips his tea and Rito just wonders how he lost control of the entire situation. But I wonder if he ever had control. LOL

Rito wonders how he can stop this and how will he ever be able to face Haruna again? And if he doesn’t do something soon, he may have to end up getting married. As Zastin interrupts his thoughts to talk about the future, Rito grabs him and takes him out of the room. Next thing you know, Zastin is pointing his sword at Rito again and is threatening him over a broken engagement. Rito said it was just hypothetical and is relieved that Zastin seems to be an idiot.

Rito asks – hypothetically – if there is a way to break the engagement without causing a war and Zastin has to think a moment. Well, yes, - hypothetically – there is a way. Zastin explains that there is a cooling off period, much like a return policy on Earth. However, there is only a three-day period to do this. And there’s a catch. Rito has to reenact the same event that got him into the mess to begin with. Rito only has until tomorrow night to grab Lala’s breasts again and declare that the engagement is off.

But can he do such a thing? He thinks of Haruna and resolves to do it, so he and Haruna can have a “happy future”. I know this is going to backfire! Rito sets his alarm clock to tomorrow night. He tries to sneak up on Lala. She’s playing a video game and it’s funny that the fighting character she’s controlling resembles Zastin. Rito gets in the perfect position and just as he’s about to do the deed, Zastin is suddenly there in the flesh. Rito just falls to the floor. Rito’s sister is there too, and looks thoughtful. Maybe she realizes what is going on. Her bother is a pervert, after all.

Later, Lala is in the shower and Rito sees another chance. He opens the bathroom door and comes face to face with Peke. Peke accuses Rito of trying to peek at Lala. Lala comes out of the shower and seeing Lala naked again, Rito flees. Rito later joins his sister and Lala and announces that he’s going to bed. Lala says she will join him, but his sister calls him a creep. Questioning his motives, his sister reprimands him. She then tells Lala to come sleep in her room. Another missed chance for Rito!

Once again, Rito wakes up to a naked Lala. A perfect opportunity? He reaches out and success! Much relieved, he comments on the softness I his hand, only to realize he’s holding Peke. He throws Peke from the bed, and Lala wakes up. Rito gives up, telling Lala to just go back to sleep. All during the day, Rito thinks of Lala’s breasts. He keeps trying to touch, but a series of strange accidents occur, preventing him. It gets to a point where there is only one hour left to break his engagement.

Rito takes Lala out for a walk so he can talk to her. He decides to be honest and invites Lala to sit next to him. The setting is romantic. Sitting on the riverbank, staring out at the moonlit water, Rito says he wants to discuss the engagement. But Lala tells him how happy she is and how he saved her. She tells him how hard it is to be royalty and how she is expected to just accept things without any regard for her feelings. She goes over how Rito treated her as a person when they first met and how he helped her without even knowing who she was. She tells him how grateful she is.

Then she asks what he wanted to talk about. Feeling awful now, Rito tires to get up his courage to tell her the truth. He thinks of Haruna and is about to blurt out the truth, when the alarm clock goes off. Realizing his failure, he faints.

The next day, as Rito leaves the house for school, Zastin and the men in black offer him congratulations. Rito tells them to just shut up. During class, he again thinks of his situation and says that school is the only place he can relax. Maybe things will just work out on their own. Then again, he still needs to talk to Haruna. Happy that school is the one place where he won’t have to deal with Lala, maybe he can patch things up with Haruna.

Not so! There’s a new student transferring in, and it’s none other than Lala! Poor Rito!!!

S1/Ep 3

Rito is really mad that Lala is now a student at his school. He doesn’t even know how she was able to “transfer” in. She told him how easy it was to enroll after she talked to the principal. Rito warns her not to cause any trouble. Did he just waste his breath? And he really doesn’t want anyone to find out she’s an alien! Lala doesn’t understand what the big deal is until Peke explains it to her. She reluctantly consents to keeping her identity a secret. And, with a smile, promises Rito that she won’t cause any trouble.

So, in art class, she draws an alien. During a ballgame, she pitches the ball so hard that everyone has to duck. It’s smoking as it hits the fence. Yeah, that could have killed someone. In the locker room, the girls talk about how well-developed Lala is. Why did Rito have to walk in on that? The girls chase him out.

In the classroom, Rito has to endure the other boy’s angry looks as Lala fawns over him. He again reprimands Lala for attracting too much attention. Lala really doesn’t understand what she did wrong, and promises to be more careful. But why does she have an armful of her inventions???

A despondent Haruna is walking in the hallway going over the times she saw Rito and Lala together. And here is the object of her affection, walking towards her, and fuming over Lala. He walks past Haruna as she tries to get his attention. He snaps at her and then realizes who she is. Oops! She is about to walk away with an apology, but Rito stops her.

Alone for the moment, Rito wants to explain about Lala, but when he speaks, Haruna speaks at the same time. So, nothing gets said by either one of them and Rito berates himself. They start talking about Lala and Haruna tells him that she can understand why he likes her. She also says that they make a “good pair”. What? How does he now get out of this one? Before he can do anything, Lala shows up to walk home with Rito. She asks if she has interrupted a conversation, but Haruna says she didn’t, so Lala drags Rito away.

Once home, a depressed Rito thinks he will never be able to fix things with Haruna now. His sister and Lala wonder what might be wrong with him. Peke just doesn’t understand Earthlings. Rito’s sister makes plans with Lala to show her around the following day. Of course, Rito has to go along, and of course, Lala draws too much attention to herself. Rito insists that Lala has to change that “spacey” outfit. His sister agrees. Lala goes through several costume changes before picking a more normal one that will blend in with everyone else. Rito blushes as he approves.

Lala drags Rito off, and his sister senses a first date and thinks perhaps they should go off without her. Rito insists she come along. They have a nice day exploring the city, and Rito shows off his prize machine skills by getting Lala the stuffed animal she wants. His sister isn’t impressed with his useless skill. Rito is a little surprised that the stuffed animal made Lala so happy.

As they think of what to do next, Lala’s clothes begin to dissolve. She used too much of Peke’s energy to change through all those costumes before! Peke says in a few minutes, Lala will be completely naked! As the surrounding crowd ogles the girl with the dissolving clothes, Rito grabs her hand and runs, trying to think of a place to hide her. Thankfully, Mikan is the sensible one here, and runs them into a clothing store.

They put Lala in the dressing room and Mikan goes to look for an outfit for her. Rito waits by the dressing room, thankful for his little sister. But as he turns around, he comes face to face with Haruna! Just as he hopes that she didn’t see anything, Lala pops out of the dressing room, declaring that she isn’t “butt naked” anymore. Rito just deflates. LOL

As they later sit at a café, Mikan takes control of the situation again and explains to Haruna that Lala just returned from abroad, so they are showing her around. Haruna looks over at Rito, but he’s too depressed to notice. Once again, he’s thankful for his little sister. But he’s still miserable about Haruna thinking that he and Lala make a good couple.

Lala wants to know what something is and Mikan explains that it’s an aquarium. Lala wants to go! They invite Haruna to go with them as well. Lala is really excited by all the exhibits and runs all over. Mikan cautions her not to get lost. Rito and Haruna get to talk a bit, and Mikan now sees exactly what is going on. Her brother has a real mess on his hands! Mikan says she will look for Lala and runs off. So, now Haruna and Rito are all alone. Will something good happen? It’s an awkward situation and Rito has no idea what to do. He makes a suggestion and starts to walk away, but Haruna grabs his sleeve.

Meanwhile, Lala has somehow gotten herself behind the scenes and is wandering around. She sees a tank of listless fish and brings out something called “Berserker DX”, a Deviluke secret. She tosses some in the tank and the fist go nuts! They begin to jump out of the tank. But back to Rito and Haruna. She says that she has been wanting to tell him something for a while now, and has tried to tell him before. Rito wonders if it’s a confession. Haruna continues. She tells Rito that he’s kind and talks about him taking care of the flowers in middle school. She says that she still thinks that he and Lala make a good couple, however, she thinks……. Rito wonders if this can really be happening.

Back behind the scenes, a caretaker comes across all the fish that jumped out of the tank and can’t breathe. Lala doesn’t understand why the caretaker is so upset until he tells her that the fish are going to die. Lala questions that and finds out that fish need water to survive. Here it comes. She pulls out one of her inventions and turns it on, flooding the room with water. Lala is just about to go for a swim, when the caretaker jumps onto the platform and tells her that she can’t – at least not clothed. So, Lala pulls off her clothes! LOL The caretaker seemed to enjoy that!

A naked Lala dives into the water and goes swimming with the fish. Looks like a shark may be happy about that too. Back by the display, it seems that Rito and Haruna are really confessing to each other. However, a flood is headed their way! Rito is just about to tell Haruna that he loves her, when a fish hits the back of his head. A fish? What’s a fish doing there? He turns around and sees the flood. And of course, there is Lala, naked and laughing, riding the wave on a dolphin!

Haruna wonders why Lala is naked, but Rito grabs her hand and they try to outrun the flood. Not happening. It quickly catches them. Lala is having fun! Rito knows this is all Lala’s fault somehow, and Lala laughs as the water gushes out of the upper floors of the building they’re in. Then the entire building is leaking water and fish!

Later, as they walk home, Rito thought he was going to die. Lala says that aquariums are fun. Mikan found a place to hide during the disaster. She asks if Haruna had fun. She looks at Rito and nods. One the way to school the next day, Lala remarks how happy Rito seems to be. And he is. Although he didn’t get to explain things to Haruna, he’s relieved that Haruna wasn’t mad at him after all. As he wonders how to get closer to her, Haruna joins them on their way to school. Rito is happy to see her and goes running to her, only to trip and fall on her. And you already know the position they end up in!! LOL Haruna screams as Rito tries to apologize and slaps him so hard, he flies into a wall. Haruna runs away and it seems that Rito is right back to square one!

Since I recently picked up the 3rd omnibus of TLR the other day, I figured I’d do a manga to anime comparison of the introduction of best girl Yami.

In a drop-down of course

Her introduction story lasts a total of 4 chapters, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how much of that made it to the anime! (Since so many people say S1 has a lot of filler material)

  • Change #1

The whole De-Vi-Luke scene with Lala, Zastin, and Mikan and Rito shopping with Haruna is completely anime original. In the manga, only the part where Zastin gives Lala her allowance and Rito leaving a store are shown.

  • Change #2

The reason why Lala and Zastin are out has been changed. In the manga, Lacospo sends a transmission to Lala, informing her that he sent Yami to kill Rito. The anime has Mikan send them to get something that she forgot to put on the shopping list.

  • Change #3

Manga Zastin gets hit by a TRAIN during his battle with Yami.

Yeah.

That changed.

He falls into a sewer in the anime. (The dub exclusive joke is just beautiful too :joy:)

  • Change #4

Haruna shopping with Rito was somewhat reworked from an earlier chapter. She gets a Round-robin Christmas gift from Rito, which turns out to be the mug which she is shown looking at during the anime shopping trip :thinking::thinking:

  • Change #5

Yami actually doesn’t have any panty shots during her introduction chapter in the manga!

Kentaro Yabuki mentioned (in the after chapter character description) that he felt panty shots during a fight wasn’t sexy, so she got a little special treatment during her introduction.

  • Change #6

Motemesu Sempai hits on Yami, which she thoroughly declines.

  • Change # 7

During the fight with Lacospo, in the anime, Rito blocks a second shot of Gamaton’s mucous from hitting Lala, and then lands a punch on his face. In the manga, Peke restored Lala’s outfit immediately, and she proceeds to clobber Lacospo into the next millennium! :joy:

And aside from a bit of changed dialogue, that’s it!

I just finished reading the 3rd omnibus, and a couple more thoughts

They weren’t lying when they said the series had a cut and paste job for the anime!

  1. Celine actually appears in the first page of the first Yami chapter, in her plant form, which means she appeared before volume 5! (She didn’t appear until the S1 OVA’S in the anime)

  2. Yui makes her first appearance in voulme 6 chapters 50 and 51, after Yami. Her introduction is at the start of the second school year, and while it isn’t exactly the same, many of the events displayed in the anime did happen in her introduction chapters!

  3. Once Again, From Here (Motto EP 1A) where Lala and Rito are walking to the school and Lala reafirms her love is chapter 49.

  4. Yami’s Clinic (Motto EP 7A) is chapter 45. It also shows a very good reason why Yami is trying to lead a tranquil life on Earth. Everytime she uses her Trans ability excessively, it could make her that much closer to death! :sob::sob::sob:

  5. The episode where Rito gets mind swapped with a dog (Motto 8B) is actually 2 full chapters: 43 and 44

  6. Run is also introduced after Yami and way after Ren. (Chapter 42. Ren was at the least introduced in chapter 23. It has a flashback that says chapter 23…)

  7. King Deviluke is way more lecherous than his anime counterpart.

  8. Scenes from BOTH TLR ep 13 and 26 are in the same chapter, #48! Where Rito meets Gid on the school rooftop and Lala uses the memory erasing device (Which actually does work on Devilukians!)

  9. A few more scenes from ep 13, where all the girls are enamored with Rito appear as well in chapter 52.

  10. Lala gets the beans spilled that she is an alien while playing twister with Rito and Haruna. Just like episode 15 of the anime, everyone is perfectly fine with it.

BTW, would y’all like me to continue this?

And if you do, should I start with Omnibus 1 or continue with 4 and leave 1 and 2 for last?

Okay. I’m gonna change it up a little bit. Gonna make one post for each manga volume, and modify it as I read. Meaning that there will be 2 posts for each omnibus volume.

Okay. Here we go!

To Love Ru Manga Volume 1

Ch 1

This is pretty much a shorter version of episode 1. The space battle at the start of the episode is anime material. Rito “stalking” Haruna was only shown as one page at the start, and the backstory of Rito with the school flowers is absent. In addition, Rito doesn’t accidentally grab Lala’s mammaries in the manga. One final note is Zastin is not in this chapter! Buartz and Muar are the ones who get sucked up by Suck-suck Vacuum-kun!

Ch 2

This chapter was used towards the first half of episode 2. Zastin makes his first appearance, and it also explains that the reason Lala was at school is because Rito left his lunch at home.

Ch 3

The beginning where Rito is talking to Lala on the riverbank is used in episode 2, but with different dialogue. The rest of the chapter is manga exclusive. Also, the mammary squeeze = Devilukian marriage proposal is an anime plot point. Here, it’s Lala who tells Zastin that she wants to marry Rito so she can escape her suitors.

Also Zastin getting hit by a train appears to be a reoccurring joke. It happens in this chapter.

Ch 4

Three scenes from episode 2 appear in this chapter. The scene where Rito grabs Peke thinking it’s Lala, the scene with Mikan catching Lala and Rito sleeping together, and the scene where Lala appears at school and says she joined. Also, some of the dialogue between Haruna and Rito ends up in episode 3.

Ch 5

This chapter was used as the basis of the first part of episode 3. Lala makes a big ruckus at school, while being shown around the campus. A joke where Motemisu hits on Lala is used in episode 12.

Rito using Buzz buzz bat-kun (and him cracking Zastins skull with it!) is only in the manga.

Ch 6

The opening pages are used in episode 13, but slightly rewritten. The rest of this is rewritten as part of episode 6. However, Giblee doesn’t copy the principal, he copies the teacher of the tennis club: Sasuga-sensei.

The dissection class scenes are anime original content. (Cause Giblee is reptilian, get it?)

Ch7

A continuation of episode 6. Almost nothing has changed between manga and anime except Haruna is in gym clothes and a bit of dialogue between Peke and Lala.

Oh yeah. No principal in this chapter either.

Total number of manga exclusive chapters so far: 1

To Love Ru Manga Volume 2

Ch 8

The conclusion of episode 6, however Giblee’s wives and children are anime original content.

Ch 9

Word for word, this is the shopping trip from episode 3.

Ch 10

Episode 3’s aquarium trip. It was extended though, as Lala only uses Berserker DX on the penguins, and doesn’t end up flooding and destroying the entire aquarium.

At the end, it appears that a manga exclusive character appears.

Ch 11

This chapter is completely removed from the anime, and it showcases Saibai’s (Rito’s dad) work as a mangaka. The character introduced last chapter is a one-shot character named Pluma who gets crushed by Saibai unknowingly slamming a door.

Something I’m almost certain I didn’t see in anime is Zastin and crew are roped into being Saibai’s manga assiants.:thinking::thinking:

Ch 12

This is another chapter exclusive to the manga. There’s a suspicious person following Lala.

Risa being a perv towards Lala was used in episode 3.

Ch 13

The continuation of chapter 12. Turns out Motemitsu-sempai was sneaking lewd pictures of the girls.

Splishy Splash Wave-kun, which appears in episode 16, is used in this chapter.

Ch 14

Another manga exclusive chapter. A typhoon threatens the class trip. Lala literally diverts it’s path by yelling at it!

Ch 15

The start of the class trip mentioned in the previous chapter. Pretty much involves the boys of the class trying to peep on the girls in the bath. This chapter mentions Haruna’s fear of ghosts as well.

Ch 16

Continuing the class trip, this chapter involves the famous “Test of Courage”! The joke about Haruna using Rito as a clobbering tool is used in episode 16.

The final page shows the first glimmer of Rito’s harem :joy:

To Love Ru Manga Volume 3

Ch 17

Continuing the Summer school camp arc from volume 2, we start with a chapter that may have been used towards a specific part of episode 16. I’m not 100% certain, but both involve girls getting their swimsuits removed by an aquatic animal while playing in the water.

The manga has a dolphin stealing swimsuits to try to get people’s attention to help it’s beached mother, while ep 16 has Run send fabric eating piranhas in the water to get the other girls away from Rito.

:thinking::thinking::thinking:

Ch 18

More manga exclusiveness!
The final night of the class trip. The boys try to hang out with the girls, but due to circumstances, it ends up being Haruna and Rito alone.

Ch 19

The final chapter of the summer camp arc, and Rito spends the entire chapter hiding under Haruna’s blanket. :joy:

To be fair, she’s the one who hid him there so the other girls wouldn’t find him.

Ch 20

This is the first part of episode 7. Give or take, it’s about the first 7 minutes of the episode. (With slight modifications of course).

Ch 21

This chapter didn’t make it to the anime. Ren tells Rito to give up on Lala, so he starts to think about her. He ends up at Luv Luv park, where he sees Ren holding Haruna, who, unbeknownst to him, had almost fallen because of Marron.

The scene with Lala and Mikan bathing together in episode 7 appears in this chapter.

Ch 22

Once again, another full chapter excluded from the anime. Rito argues with Ren over the events of the previous chapter, and Risa and Mio make a challenge of whichever boy kisses Lala first will be the one to claim her heart.

Ch 23

Continuing the challenge from last chapter, the group goes to a karaoke bar. Both Ren and Rito fail to kiss Lala, but end up kissing each other.

So the kiss from episode 7 was rewritten from this chapter, but everything else is manga exclusive. Another note is Run (who makes 2 cameos in episode 7) will not appear until volume 6, so there’s that too…

Ch 24

Hmm. Very interesting :thinking::thinking::thinking:

This is the introduction chapter for Saki, and the opening page mirrors her entrance from episode 5. HOWEVER, the rest of the chapter is Rito’s class setting up the animal cafe from episode 22. One change is Saruyama had previously acquired the animal costumes, instead of the class making them together.

Ch 25

Another chapter that didn’t make it to the anime…

Saki tries using her sex appeal to steal Rito from Lala. She is WAY more promiscuous in the manga! O_o

One scene where Saki tries to kiss Rito does make a modified appearance in episode 5.

Number of manga exclusive chapters this volume: 7

Total number of manga exclusive chapters so far: 14

To Love Ru Manga Volume 4

Ch 26

The opening pages are more of the animal cafe from episode 22 (no bunny Yami though ). Saki appears in the BDSM outfit shown in episode 8. The rest of the chapter is a fairly risque waitress competition between Lala and Saki.

downloadfile-2

The principal chasing down Saki is shown in episode 5 as well, in a different scenario.

Meaning about half of this chapter is manga exclusive.

Ch 27

Another manga exclusive chapter! Lala leaves on an errand, so Rito goes to school by himself. He accidentally falls and grabs Haruna’s posterior and most of the chapter is him trying to apologize to her. Turns out it’s Rito’s birthday, and Lala went to get a rare flower for him! (This is Celine in her plant form BTW)

Ch 28

And another manga exclusive chapter! Lala finishes her lab and invites Rito and Mikan in. Rito touches a machine which shrinks him later in the day.

This is the manga introduction of Mikado-sensei as well.

Ch 29

Once again, manga exclusive…

The continuation of chapter 28. Rito’s tiny adventure (with a LOT of panty shots :joy:)

The effect of the invention wears off btw.

Ch 30

This chapter is the first five minutes of episode 24. Difference is that Mikado actually had a cure for the reversal flu right then and there. (Xebec might have gotten 20 minutes more of material just from Lala catching the flu…)

Ch 31

This one is a manga exclusive chapter as well.

Lala is trying to “help” Rito by using her inventions which makes him tell at her which, in turn causes her to run away from home.

This chapter may have been reworked into a scene from episode 4

Ch 32

Calling this one another half manga content exclusive chapter.

Lala crashes at Haruna’s place after running away from home. They talk about Rito.

This chapter was reworked into part of episode 14, but replace a run-away Lala with a Rito who had just saved Maron from drowning.

Ch 33

Manga exclusive once again. Saki invites all of her schoolmates to a Christmas party. She sets up a game to pass out the presents, disaster begins to ensue.

The outfit Lala wears in this chapter appears towards the end of episode 17

Ch 34

The continuation of the last chapter. Once again, manga exclusive content.

A note. Haruna ends up with a present from Rito containing the mug I mentioned in the original Omnibus 3 post.

Number of manga exclusive chapters this volume: 7 (cause of two “half exclusive chapters”)

Total number of manga exclusive chapters so far: 21

Next post will be a revamp of my earlier post.

Hope that’s ok.

“Arrival of the Golden Haired Goddess

Ch 35, 36, 37, and 38

These 4 chapters made it all into the anime, with minimal edits. For comparison of these chapters, please see this post. Here I did a more thorough comparison of the introduction of Best Waifu than most other chapters. Hope y’all enjoy!

Ch 39

After 4 whole chapters that made it to the anime almost unaltered, we go straight back to more “Manga Exclusive Chapters!”

Rito and crew go ice skating. Lala makes modifications to her skates, which spin Peke off of her and onto the other girls, transforming their outfits, eventually landing on Rito and placing him in the outfit Lala wore during her battle with Saki.

Ch 40

While being a manga exclusive chapter, part of the premise may have been used for Motto 5C.

In the manga Haruna is trying to give Rito chocolates, but in the anime it’s Yui.

The rest of the chapter is the ENTIRE school starting to lust after one another after eating Lala’s chocolates. (Also, she’s American! She gave chocolates to both boys and girls!)

Ch 41

Continuation of chapter 40, turns out Lala put an aphrodisiac (gotten from Mikado-sensei) in the chocolates she made.

Until further data is found, I count these last 2 chapters as half manga exclusive content.

There are later chapters worked into Motto 5C. Tally updated.

Ch 42

Run’s introduction in the manga. Parts of this chapter were used in episode 7 (explaining the gender swap), episode 8 (the opening scene where Run tries to kiss Rito) and episode 16 (the basis of Run stalking Rito).

Ch 44

Word for word, the second half of Motto 8B

Ch 45

This is Motto 7A, however, there is one major change. In the anime, Yami’s condition is due to her being on Earth, and not completely familiar to the atmosphere. In the manga, Yami’s condition is due to her overusing her Trans ability. The modified line from the manga is as follows:

Mikado: “You’ve been using you trans ability recklessly without sparing it any thought, haven’t you? Your bodily functions have deteriorated considerably.”

:sob::sob::sob:

Also, Oshizu is added to the episode in the anime. As of this volume, she hadn’t been introduced yet.

Ch 46

First manga exclusive chapter for the volume :joy:

It’s Haruna’s birthday, so the gang throw her a party at her place. Haruna, Lala, and Rito end up playing twister.

This chapter is where the “inner circle” find out Lala is an alien, which is reworked into the very start of episode 15. Also, her tail’s sensitivity, which is used in several episodes, is mentioned here, but not to the extent of draining all of her energy that the anime says it does

Ch 47

Another manga exclusive chapter! This is the introduction of Gid Luceon Deviluke. He’s way more of a perv than in the anime!

Ch 48

This chapter was used to inspire 2 entire separate episodes!

The scene where Gid unleases his power on the school rooftop is in episode 13, while the second half of the chapter, where Lala uses Memory erase-kun and reintroduces herself to Rito and Co (with everyone remembering her), is used as the ending of Season 1.

BTW, memory erase-kun works on Devilukians.

Ch 49

This chapter is the entirety of Motto 1A. The only changes are that Celine is still in her plant form (honestly don’t know which chapter she changes into the humanoid form from OVA 6 and onward), and Yui has some dialogue that was used in S1 episode 8.

Ch 50

This is the official Yui introduction chapter, as in the manga they started a new school year. (Class shuffle and all that.) A lot of this chapter is the first couple of minutes of episode 8.

The plot point of class rep selection is manga exclusive.

Ch 51

Once again, manga exclusive plot. Class 2-A holds the election for class rep. Haruna wins.

The Peke badge and subsequent Yui outfit transformation, alongside a reworked version of Yui having a speech about morals from episode 8 appear in this chapter. The boys magnetic patch was reworked into the little magnet robot in episode 8.

Ch 52

Another chapter exclusive to the manga.

Rito’s underclassman joins Sainan high, sees how many women fawn over Rito and asks him to help him ask out Haruna.

The scene with Run was directly used I’m episode 13, while the other girls fawning over him was modified a little bit.

Ch 53

Continuing the mini story from last chapter, Rito actually DOES ask Haruna if she likes someone, which she replies by running away. The next day, Rito’s underclassman says he likes the class prefect (Yui) and proceeds to push him into her. A beating ensues :joy:.

Ch 54

I have to mention this first:

Is Saki Hasemi a prophet! O_o :joy:

This chapter is Motto 2B word for word.

Ch 55

This is the first part of episode 17. There’s a scene with Saki, Aya, and Rin that is manga exclusive.

Ch 56

More of episode 17, however in the manga Yami, Risa, and Mio get separated from the group.

Oshizu makes a quick shadowy cameo too.

A note. The first TLR popularity poll is shown on the first page of chapter 57. Yami and Haruna tied for second place at 3076 votes each! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Ch 57

The 3rd chapter involving episode 17. Yami’s a little more badass in the manga

Oshizu makes another cameo, this time her face is visible.

Ch 58

The 4th chapter related to episode 17. The interesting part is it ends with Mikado taking the aliens to the theme park and the official reveal of Oshizu.

That means the entire 3rd part of the episode with the alien cabaret club is filler.:thinking::thinking:

Ch 59

Saki gets a crush. Turns out to be Zastin.

While this chapter appears to be manga exclusive, it marks Saki’s crush on Zastin. Therefore, this chapter has been worked around to be at least part of Motto 5A. The scene where Zastin picks up Saki’s limo with one hand is in this chapter.

Ch 60

Another manga exclusive chapter. Rito’s mom comes to Japan for work.

Ch 61

This one is word for word Motto 4A: Yami-Yami Fashion!

Ch 62

We start this volume with another manga exclusive chapter. Rito, Lala, and Mikan go to the summer festival. They get separated, and Rito finds Haruna (who lost Risa and Mio). Rito actually tried to tell Haruna that he loves her, but a firework explodes right as he says it. Right then, everybody finds them so Rito lost his chance.:joy:

Ch 63

Once again, another manga exclusive chapter. Run tries to get revenge on Lala for all the suffering she caused her during their childhood. Rito gets the blunt of the damage. :joy:

Ch 64

This is Motto 7C, but a few things were changed. They added the mention of Oshizu’s “body” as it hadn’t been introduced in the manga yet. The ending is different as well. Oshizu can’t unpossess Haruna’s body, which leads into another manga exclusive chapter…

Ch 65

This is Oshizu’s day as Haruna, however the last part is the ending of Motto 7C.

There’s about 1 chapter of manga exclusive content between the two chapters

Ch 66

Lala uses Warp-kun EX to warp the gang to a beach. Yui can’t swim, so Lala gives her a dolphin jet ski. Hilariousness ensues. Turns out the new warp device can’t warp itself, so everyone is stranded.

While this is a manga exclusive chapter, a few scenes feel like they were placed in different episodes. Rito and Saruyama staring at Lala and Haruna, plus the swimsuit Run wears appear in episode 16. The entire premise of using one of Lala’s inventions to have an entire group travel may have been used as a basis for episode 19

Just a note: in the post-chapter Character bio for Saruyama, Saki Hasemi mentions he would like to have a chapter where Saruyama falls in love. I guess that’s where Riko’s existence started, huh?

Ch 67

While this is a manga exclusive chapter, the plot was reworked into episode 15.

The group find their bags have been stolen, then get chased by a dinosaur until Lala returns, clobbers the dino, and tells everyone they are 200 million light years away from earth!

Ch 68

Manga exclusive chapter again, but it could have been reworked into part of episode 19.

The gang try to adjust to island life. Rito and Saruyama find a hot spring. Fanservice ensues :joy:

Ch 69

The last part of the stranded on an alien planet story. Manga exclusive, of course.

The gang split up to find more food. Rito and Haruna get attacked by a tree. Deus-ex Mikado saves the day. :joy:

Ch 71

We start with another manga exclusive chapter. Saki and Run team up to prank Lala. They fail HARD, so they decide to hire Yami to put her in her place.

Ch 72

Continuing the last chapter, Lala and Yami fight to a draw. The school gets destroyed in the process. Saki has to pay for it all. :joy:

Note #1: Lala can shoot energy beams from her tail. (I swear I don’t ever remember that in the anime.)

Note # 2: Yami takes the ultimate blade form Eve used in Black Cat.

hqdefault-1

(Yami is still 101 × cuter though)

Ch 73

This was slightly modified to become OVA 2.

Ch 74

It’s Motto 1C, but there is no rainy day sequence. The entire final part was rewritten.

Ch 75

This is another manga exclusive chapter.

Oshizu and Haruna are talking, and Rito comes up in the conversation. Oshizu then possesses Rito to take him to Haruna so she can tell him she loves him.

Some scenes were reworked into Motto 2C and a bit of dialogue was used in Motto 7C

Ch 76

Aside from the scenes that were added from chapter 75, this is the entirety of episode 2C.

Ch 77

A manga exclusive chapter, however it continues the overall story from Ch 75 and 76 / Motto 2C.

Yami and Haruna sleepover at the Yuki house. Rito hears a strange noise, and goes to check it out. He bumps into Haruna, and they hide from the burgler. Turns out to be Rito’s dad.

There’s a super cute pic of Yami standing up sleeping in this chapter

Ch 78

Manga exclusive chapter. Some of Mikado-sensei’s past comes back to haunt her. Haruna and Yui get kidnapped!

Ch 79

Continuing the story from the last chapter, the gang beats the dark organization and saves Haruna and Yui.

Every single character is badass in this chapter! Lala, Rito, Mikado, and of course Yami-chan!
