Every time we think we have Higurashi: When They Cry figured out, the series throws us the sudden, yet inevitable, curveball we never saw coming. And so, the series blindsided everyone again when the “remake” showed its true colors as Higurashi: When They Cry - Gou, a sequel. Maybe. The jury’s still out on that.
Regardless, two things are clear at this point: 1) This isn’t just a remake anymore, and 2) This twist is actually a very Higurashi thing to do.
Which brings us to a third point: If When They Cry Gou is a potential sequel, that must mean there’s a prequel series you should probably catch up on, right?
Right. There’s an original series that has three seasons.
