Anime Network Website Suggestions (pre-2015)
I would like to be able to “follow” a particular thread without having to post in it. I’ve found some that are interesting even though i don’t have a comment to make. It’s easier to find threads in “my discussions” than to have to do a forum search. There is a Q&A site i go to that lets you follow a question without posting.

A mod can PM me if this doesn’t make sense. Thanx! :)
You can always subscribe to a thread… that will get you an email.

You can make it a favorite… that will put it in “My Discussions”

AH-HA!!! I see it, Slowhand. Thanx!!! Yet again, you rock!

Come back, I had it backward…

I believe threads you subscribe to also send emails to you regarding new posts, if I’m not mistaken.

Also, if you click ‘Favorite’ it puts the thread at the top of the ‘my discussions’ list.

You can Subscribe to a thread without having to post in it. You will receive an email notification when there are new posts in your subscribed threads. We’re looking into overhauling how users can manage their account, profile and forum settings, within the confines of how customized we can get things with Kunena & JomSocial.

I got a PM from Slowhand. Subscribe will send an email alert, choosing “Favorite” will add it to “My Discussions.” Jess is a happy Tannette!!!

Would it be possible to get an RSS or Atom feed of released episodes? Or at least some kind of HTML “here are the last 10 episodes we’ve put up for subscribers.” As a series gets pushed farther down the new releases page, I tend to forget to check for new eps (hello, Neo Angelique Abyss - Second Age). Thanks!

A few items that might improve the site: (forgive me if these have been suggested, I merely skimmed through the suggestions)

 1. During the subscribing process (paying for premium service) the state changes back to default (“Alabama” I believe) each time you continue to the next step. It obviously kept my information from the first step but it might be confusing to others if they notice.

 2. Default video preferences - since I am subscribing I like to watch the videos in HD format when they are available. Is there a way to set my default preferences for viewing videos to HD? If there is please let me know where to find this. If not I think it would be a convenient option to have.

 3. Date and Time for currently airing shows - I would be interested in knowing when currently airing shows are released. Infinite Stratos is the show that made me decide to subscribe, I searched the information page of the show but I did not see a reference to the day or time that new episodes are aired. Could this perhaps be included on the info pages of currently airing shows? Is a new episode released every Wednesday? If there is a place on TAN that shows such information please let me know so I can bookmark it.

 4. Regarding item 3, is there a subscribe option that I have overlooked for currently airing shows? I would like to get an e-mail reminder that a new episode is available on the shows I like.

 5. Make the character spotlights link to the shows info page.

Thank you for the opportunity to suggest ideas.

The information for Infinite Stratos is currently the second item on the home page.
Blog / Important Notice for Anime Network Online Users - Anime Network - this Sunday at 8:30 PM CST

See also the category of Blog / Important Notice for Anime Network Online Users - Anime Network. It has a thread titled “Infinite Stratos (Coming to The Anime Network Online Player Sun, Jan 23, at 8:30 PM (CST))”.

Currently airing shows: Click on THE SHOWS, then Streaming (the ones with yellow or purple dots are active).
For what’s new, click on WHAT’S ON, then Anime Network Online to see the schedule.

Note to admin:
THE SHOWS → New Releases is busted; it should go to Blog / Important Notice for Anime Network Online Users - Anime Network.
THE SHOWS → Popular is also non-functional.

Just a quick note regarding the issue with upcoming episode dates/times:

Over the weekend, we developed a bug that has caused the “Coming Soon” icons & dates to not work, but rather to display the “Premium” icon instead. Our techs are working on a fix for this glitch. When the “Coming Soon” status is working correctly, the icons will reflect the status and hovering over the episode’s thumbnail will display it’s start date/time.

In the meanwhile, check the Blog / Important Notice for Anime Network Online Users - Anime Network. It can be reached from the What’s On button, then select the Anime Network Online tab. (or click the link above) There you will be able to see the date and access level for upcoming episodes in a sortable/filterable list.

We have a lot of new projects and features in the works for the site this year which encompass many of your other suggestions and quite a bit more.

Thanks for taking the time to drop us some input!

Thanks for pointing out the schedule. Sorting works great but the filter by show appears to be bugged, any time I try to type in a show it shows a blank list. Filter by Subscription level and Start Date appear to work fine but the filter by episode just rearranges the list, not sure what it sorts by.

That part has never worked.

That bugs me too. As it stands now, records with the same primary key are displayed in a non-deterministic order.

When SHOW is selected (to sort by series name as the primary key), it should automatically include the START DATE field as the secondary key, so that the results are presented in the proper order. (It’s a lot easier to sort alphabetically by date than it is to sort numerically by episode description.)

This bug was fixed last night- Coming Soon status is now indicated. On the Watch tab for a show, if you hover over the episode thumbnail, the start date/time will be displayed.

Awesome, thank you!

Now that Opera has updated, it looks like I’m going to the American Red Cross website on speed Dial. It just looks odd.

For your website, the user should delete their own account.

Your request has been noted, and it will be taken care of.

You need to sign out of it first.

Could we have the ridiculous restriction that passwords can only contain letters and numbers removed.

nose bleed icons and skimpy cloths icons not bieing in the right place thats whay you are complaining about seariously what are you some perve just trying to get off to anime then realizeing its not skimpy you dicust me.

 1. Please get all the Sentai/ADV extras on here. I’ve managed to track down the old releases of things like Milk-chan, Crisis 2040, and Gilgamesh to get those extras but despite my efforts I haven’t managed to track down some classics like the Madlax sock puppet theater. Buying old dvds doesn’t support Sentai :frowning: (BTW, why aren’t Gilgamesh and Madlax streamed here?)

 2. I’d appreciate an Android app akin to the iOS app. Running the streaming site on my phone through a browser might work, but I’d rather cut out the “middleman”.

While I’m here, I’m seeing this autographed poster contest for Broken Blade. Tragically the site tells me that I can’t enter the contest. However I have seen and enjoyed Broken Blade on blu-ray and have gotten it signed by both Chris and Greg Ayres. I would still be interested in buying an autographed poster though, both for Broken Blade and other series. If only that could happen.
